General information on use

  • The coolbox is not suitable for continuous operation. Ice can form on the aluminium cooling plate. We recommend that the coolbox is switched off after it has been in operation for 6 days. The coolbox can be put back into operation after 2 hours.
  • Dry the surfaces of your cool box contents so that a build-up of condensation is avoided.
  • If the coolbox is not being used, keep the connection cables in the storage compartment provided in the lid of the coolbox.
  • When operating with a 12 V power source, be careful not to switch the car engine on and off frequently, so that the power supply to the coolbox is not interrupted constantly. Also be aware that the car battery can be run down too far, if the engine is switched off.
  • In order to prevent freezing of the cool box contents when operating with 12 V, the cool box should not be operated below 17 ° C outside temperature.

Operation

  • Before putting the coolbox into operation, we recommend for reasons of hygiene that it is washed inside and outside with a damp cloth (see also chapter on “Cleaning and Care”). Moreover don’t keep any unpackaged food in it.

  • Place the cool box on a firm and level surface. The connection cables ar permanently connected to the coolbox and can be found in the cable compartment in the rear of the lid. Depending on the choice of power source required, connect either the 12V or the 230 V connection cable to the socket of the power source selected. The coolbox starts to work immediately. Note: the lid can be locked in the opened position by the handle.

  • Function of the cool box in 230 volt operation:

  • When the cool box is operated with 230 volts, the cooling capacity can be influenced using the cooling capacity regulator (1) on the top of the lid of the cool box. Please note that this cooling capacity controller only regulates the cooling capacity in 230 volt operation. This regulator has no function when operated with 12 volts; With 12 volt operation, the cooling unit always works at maximum cooling capacity.
OFF / 230 volts: If you set the controller to this position, the power supply from the 12 volt fans in the cooling unit and the Peltier cooling element is interrupted. However, the power supply to the 230/12 converter located in the device is maintained with a low standby power consumption. If you do not want to provide cooling for a longer period of time with a 230 volt connection, we recommend completely disconnecting the 230 volt plug from the power supply; this will avoid unused stand-by power consumption!

  • Function of the cool box at 230 volts in “ECO mode”

  • The cool box works in normal operation (cooling capacity regulator in position “ECO”, small mark on the lid points in the direction of
“ECO”) with a maximum of energy savings and reaches an interior temperature of approx. 17 ° C at an outside temperature of 25 ° C; this corresponds to a Delta T of approx. 8 ° C

  • (Delta T = difference between the interior temperature of the box and the ambient temperature).

  • If you want to operate the cool box at a warmer outside temperature, in contrast to ECO operation, you can influence the inside temperature by turning the cooling output regulator.

  • Turn the cooling capacity regulator clockwise in the “Max” direction, you will get a lower (colder) interior temperature of up to 17/18 ° C below the outside temperature. Please note  that in this case you will use more energy than in normal operation.

  • Turn the cooling line regulator counter-clockwise in the “OFF” direction, you will get a higher (warmer) interior temperature.

  • If you turn the cooling capacity regulator to the “zzZ” position (sleep mode), the cool box cools almost silently with the lowest possible energy consumption. This regulation is  intended so that you can operate your cool box in the caravan, mobile home or hotel room undisturbed near your bed at night.Zorn-Z32-LNW-Electric-Cool-Box- \(3\)

  • Function with 12V operation

  • CAUTION! The temperature controller on the front of the lid is only suit- able for 230 V operation and it does not function in 12 V operation. In 12V operation the cooling unit always produces a temperature difference from the ambient temperature of up to 17 °C. The cooling output can not be controlled by means of the temperature controller on the front of the lid.

Tips for the best cooling output and energy saving

  • Select a location which is well ventilated and protected from sunshine.
  • Only place pre-cooled products into the coolbox. Do not open the coolbox longer than necessary.
  • Don’t leave the lid open longer than necessary.
  • Ensure that the coolbox is not packed too full and that the air can circulate adequately between the cool box contents.
  • In order that a maximum level of energy saving can be achieved, normal operation (cooling output switch [1] in the ‘eco’ position) is recommended for longer periods of use in 230 V operation.

Exchanging the 12V fuse

  • To exchange the fuse 7, first remove the red adapter sleeve from the plug.
  • Unscrew the screw 2 with a suitable Phillips cross-tip screwdriver from the top half of the housing
  • Lift the top half of the housing from the bottom half of the housing 6 Note: Hold the contact spring 5 tightly while you remove the fuse. Otherwise the contact spring can jump out.
  • Lift the contact pin carefully out of the housing section. The fuse can now be removed.
  • Note: if the thin metal connection in the middle between the two metal caps is broken, then the fuse is defective and must be replaced.
  • Press the contact spring backwards and insert the new fuse carefully into the groove provided for it. Now place the rear edge of the contact pin on the front metal cap of the fuse. By releasing the contact spring, the fuse and contact pin are located in the groove.
  • Screw the top and bottom halves of the housing together again, place the red adapter sleeve 4 back on and tighten this again. The plug is now ready for operation.Zorn-Z32-LNW-Electric-Cool-Box- \(3\)
