MASiMO Patient Monitoring Device
Specifications
- Patient Cable Connector: Allows connection to a patient cable or sensor.
- Display and Touchscreen: Provides a user interface to monitor measured values and viewed alarm settings.
- Backward Navigation: Provides the ability to navigate backward or exit a menu item.
- DC Input Connector: Provides a connection to an AC power supply for battery charging.
- Main Menu: Provides access to user settings.
- Home Button: Allows for navigation back to the home screen.
- Speaker: Provides audio instructions/alarms. Do not cover the speaker.
Product Usage Instructions
Device Setup
- Plug the AC power supply into an AC outlet.
- Press and hold the Power Button for more than two (2) seconds until one (1) audible tone sounds.
- Insert the patient cable and secure it in place with a latch.
Sensor Selection and Placement
- The most appropriate sensor will depend on the size of the user.
- See the sensor package for recommendations.
- Intuitive sensor-to-cable connection
- Tactile and audible feedback to ensure proper connection
- Connect the sensor to the patient cable.
For the Multisite Reusable Sensor:
- Wrap-around style sensor available in two sizes: Neonatal/Adult (40kg) and infant (3-20kg)
- The Emitter (red light) should be aligned directly across from the Detector.
- The emitter should be placed on the nail or top of the foot, and Detector on the fleshy pad of the finger or bottom of the foot.
Operation
- Alarm Acknowledgement: Displays active alarms and allows silencing of active alarms.
- Waveform: Displays continuous pleth waveform and signal confidence.
- Parameter Display: Displays the current measured value for Oxygen SpO % and Pulse Rate PR.
- Battery Indicator (24hrs of use): Shows battery charge level.
- Main Menu: Adjust alarm volume, and brightness, and set date, and time.
- Active Alarms: Indicates alarm priority levels.

Troubleshooting Guide
Message on Device: No Cable
Action:
- Attach cable
- Confirm cable fully inserted into the device
- Disconnect and reconnect cable
- Close cable latch
- Replace cable if not resolved
Message on Device: No Sensor
Action:
- Attach sensor
- Confirm sensor is fully inserted into the device
- Confirm the red light illuminated on a sensor
- Replace the sensor if not resolved
OVERVIEW
Device Setup
- This guide does not replace the Masimo® Rad-G® Pulse Oximeter Operators Manual.
- Review the Operator Manual before use.
- Plug the AC power supply into an AC power source. Plug the DC output connector to the bottom of the Rad-G®.
- Press and hold the Power Button for more than two (2) seconds until one (1) audible tone sounds.
- Insert the patient cable and secure it in place with a latch.
Sensor Selection and Placement
The most appropriate sensor will depend on the size of the user. See the sensor package for recommendations.
- Connect the sensor to the patient cable
- Multisite Reusable Sensor (>1kg)
- Wrap-around style sensor available in two sizes: > Neonatal/Adult (<3kg or >40kg) and infant (3-20kg)
- The weight range for sensor size is approximate. The most important part of sensor placement is that the Emitter (red light) is aligned directly across from the Detector.
- The Emitter should always be placed on the nail or top of the foot and the Detector on the fleshy pad of the finger or bottom of the foot.

- Sensor Lifespan – Two (2) weeks with continuous use
Cable Lifespan – Two (2) years with continuous use
Cleaning and Maintenance
- To clean the surface of the Rad-G® first disconnect from AC power and turn off the device.
- 70% Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA)
- Glutaraldehyde (Cidex® Plus)
- 0.5% sodium hypochlorite water solution (10% bleach/water solution)
- Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide® solutions (Oxivir® TB)
- Quaternary ammonium chloride solution (Up to 55% alcohol/0.5% quaternary ammonium chloride, such as Ecolab Asepti-Wipe® II Germicidal Wipes)
- Do not use undiluted bleach or any solution not listed to prevent damage to the device.
