Product Usage Instructions

Getting Started:

  1. Turn the blending jar upside down and place it flat on a countertop or work surface.
  2. Place the gasket against the glass jar. Make sure the gasket is between the jar and blade assembly.
  3. Insert the blade assembly into the jar with the gasket positioned correctly.
  4. Secure the jar base onto the jar by rotating it clockwise until tight.
  5. Turn the assembled jar right side up.
  6. Place the lid with the lid cap onto the blending jar.

FAQ:

  • Q: Can I use the blender for crushing ice?
    A: The Black & Decker BL2100S is suitable for crushing ice. However, it is recommended to add some liquid along with the ice to help with the blending process.

  • Q: Is the blender jar dishwasher safe?

  • To reduce the risk of injury, never place cutter-assembly blades on the base without the jar properly attached.
  • Always operate the blender with the cover in place.
  • When blending hot liquids, remove the center piece of the two-piece cover.

POLARIZED PLUG (120V Models Only)
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW

Warning:
This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel.

ELECTRICAL CORD

  • A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is to be provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
  • Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
  • If a long detachable power supply cord or extension cord is used,
    1. The marked electrical rating of the detachable power supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance,
    2. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord, and
    3. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

If the power supply cord is damaged, it should be replaced by qualified personnel; in Latin America, by an authorized service center.

HOW TO USE

This product is for household use only.

GETTING STARTED

  • Wash all removable parts as instructed in the CARE AND CLEANING section of this manual.
  • Wipe the outside of the appliance with a damp cloth; dry thoroughly.
BLENDER JAR ASSEMBLY
  1. Turn the blending jar upside down and place it flat on a countertop or work surface.

  2. Place the gasket against the glass jar.
    Important: The gasket MUST be between the jar and blade assembly or the blender will not function properly.

  3. Place the blade assembly, blade first, into the jar. The gasket should be between the blade assembly and the blending jar (A).

  4. Place jar base onto the jar and rotate clockwise until it is tight (B).

  5. Turn the assembled jar right side up.

  6. Place the lid with the lid cap onto the blending jar.

  7. Uncoil the power cord from the storage area under the base.
    Note: Do not plug in the cord.

  8. Place jar assembly on base, making sure it is pressed firmly into place. (Jar base should not extend more than ¹⁄8-inch above the rim at the top of the base.)

  9. The blender is now ready for use.

USING YOUR BLENDER
  1. Make sure the appliance is OFF.

  2. Place foods to be blended into the jar.

  3. Place lid on jar; make sure lid cap is in place.

  4. Plug the power cord into the outlet.
    Note: When in use, do not leave the blender unattended. When using hard foods, such as ice, cheese, nuts, and coffee beans, keep one hand on the lid to keep the blender in place.

  5. Press the High or Low button; then select the speed that best suits your desired task. To switch speeds, press the High or Low button and the new speed desired.

  6. When blending thick mixtures, such as smoothies, power drinks, and milkshakes press the Pulse button several times to begin the blending process. Press the Pulse button for no more than 5 seconds at a time. This helps break up the ice and distribute the ingredients.

  7. Open the lid cap to add ingredients while the blender is running and drop ingredients through the opening.
    Important:
    Do not remove the lid while the blender is running.

  8. When finished, press the Pulse/Off but completely stop before attempting t the base.

  9. To remove the jar, grasp the handle.

  10. Remove the lid to pour.

  11. Always unplug the appliance.

BLENDING TIPS AND TECHNIQUES

  • Cut food into pieces no larger than ¾.
  • When preparing foods that have se always add liquid ingredients first.
  • When ingredients splatter onto the s thick, press the OFF button to turn a rubber spatula to scrape down the food pushing food toward the b blending.

Important:

  • The lid cap holds up to 1 oz. liquid adding ingredients such as juices.
  • When making bread crumbs, make sure the blending jar is completely dry.
  • When using the PULSE function use short b rotating between pulses.
  • Use the PULSE button to begin the b beverages that include ice cubes;
  • The PULSE function is helpful when shor such as when preparing thick smoothies o grinding coffee beans.
  • It is helpful to begin the blending process o increase to a higher speed, if necessary.
  • To stop blending, press the OFF.
  • When blending hot liquids always let blend. Before beginning to blend, r with the opened side tilted away from your splattering and only use the lowest speed cups at a time.
  • DO NOT place any of the following.
    • Large pieces of frozen foods
    • Tough foods such as raw turnips
    • Bones
    • Hard salami, pepperoni, and hard
    • Boiling liquids (cool for 5 minutes)
  • Several other don’ts:
    • Do not operate the blender without the jar.
    • Do not overfill the blender. (The b than more.)
    • Do not use pulse for more than 1 PULSE button.
    • Do not run the blender for longer than 3 2 minutes when blending liquids. S necessary and continue blending.
    • Do not use it if the blender jar is chipped
  • Tasks not recommended for the blender
    • Whipping cream
    • Beating egg whites
    • Mixing dough
    • Mashing potatoes
    • Grinding meats

CARE AND CLEANING

This product contains no user-serviceable p service personnel.

CLEANING

  • Before cleaning, turn off and unplug.
  • Lift the blending jar by handling it off.
  • Remove the jar base by turning it counterclockwise.
  • Remove the gasket and blade assembly. Caution: Blades are sharp, handle care.
  • Remove the lid and lid cap.
  • Wash removable parts by hand on the bottom rack and the rest of the parts.
