Do not attempt to maintain the appliance yourself. Only authorised agents are to carry out repairs.

Not an Air Conditioner (Important – Please Read!) The evaporative air cooler is not an air conditioner as it does not use a compressor or refrigerant gas. It should not be expected to cool as efficiently as a refrigerated air conditioner.

For optimum cooling from your cooler, fill the water tank to maximum level.

Cooler Location (Important – Please Read!) Place the cooler in front of an open door or window. Ensure that there is adequate cross – ventilation in the room by leaving a door or window open opposite the cooler.

Cleaning – If you have high mineral content in your water, mineral deposits may build up on the filters and may cause a reduced air flow to the cooling pads. Optimal maintenance would be draining the water reservoir at least once a week and replacing it with fresh water. The filters should be cleaned at least every two months and more often if you notice a buildup of mineral deposits on the filters.

Following these guidelines will ensure your cooler will work as effectively as possible.

Read all instructions carefully before setting up and operating the cooler, and please keep this instruction manual for future reference.

This manual is designed to provide you with important information needed to setup, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot your GMC Evaporative Air cooler. Failure to follow these instructions may damage and/or impair its operation and void the warranty.

QUICK START GUIDE

1) Ensure rubber stopper is in place and fill with water. Plug into a standard power outlet. NOTE: Please make sure the household power voltage matches the product specifications.

2) Place near an open door or window. NOTE: Evaporative coolers do not work in the same principle as air conditioners and they do require suitable cross ventilation for the unit to operate efficiently. It is extremely important that your evaporative air cooler has adequate cross ventilation otherwise it will not operate correctly. If you are at all unsure, please contact us on 012-661-1173 or www.gmcaircon.co.za

3) TURN ON and Enjoy the cooling breeze. NOTE: Start with low speed and gradually increase higher speed for optimum cooling experience.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1 st time use – Please note when using for the 1st time there may be a slight smell from the cooling pads, this is will disappear after the 1st use of about 20-30mins and is normal.

Swing Louvres - The louvres are only designed to operate from left to right and will not move in a ÚP or Down’ Position. They are designed to swing horizontally.

Rubber Stopper – Please ensure the rubber stopper is in place before adding water to the water tank.

Ventilation – It is extremely important that this product is used in an area with adequate cross ventilation either in front of an open window or an open door. This product will not work correctly without the correct ventilation.

Climates – The recommended maximum relative humidity level is 60% or less, which allows a noticeable temperature decrease. The temperature decrease will be greater in drier climates because higher evaporation occurs when the humidity is low.

USER TIPS
Energy Efficient, No Compressor.

GMC Evaporative Air Coolers are built to maximize energy efficiency and keep costs low.

Warm air is drawn into the cooler through a dust and odour-reducing carbon filter and enters the Cooling Pads. Water pumped from the tank pours over the honeycomb cooling pads.

As the warm air passes through the media, the water absorbs the heat, naturally cooling and humidifying the air. A fan propels the cooled air out into the room. This no-compressor system cools naturally, efficiently and inexpensively.

  6. Water Tank

The recommended maximum relative humidity level is 60% or less, which allows a noticeable temperature decrease. The temperature decrease will be greater in drier climates because higher evaporation occurs when the humidity is low. The evaporative air cooler should not be used in enclosed spaces. It must be kept level and there must be water in the water tank. The room should have doors and windows opened to allow free air flow.

The evaporative air cooler works best when placed near an open window, so that outside air is drawn into the evaporative air cooler, the air circulates in the room, then exits via the door. The maximum cooling effect is felt when a person is in the flow of air coming out of the evaporative air cooler. The evaporative air cooler can also be used to humidify dry air during cool weather. To be used for humidification the windows and doors be closed to allow the humidified air to accumulate.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
  • How often you need to clean your GMCAB20E Evaporative Cooler will depend on local conditions such as the air and water quality. If you have high mineral content in your water, mineral deposits may build up on the filters and may cause a reduced air flow to the cooling pads. Optimal maintenance would be draining the water reservoir at least once a week and replacing it with fresh water. The filters should be cleaned at least every two months and more often if you notice a build up of mineral deposits on the filters.
  • Before cleaning always remove the plug from the electrical socket.
