Registration Decals & Numbers

• Most states do not require registration of kayaks without motors to be registered, so check local requirements. The EZLite™10 can take skeg skeg-mounted electric motor such as the Bixpy motor. In that case, you may be required to register the kayak. Kayaks and motor, including trolling motors, to be registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles or at another office like Oregon’s State Marine Board for example.
• For most states, a Manufacturer’s statement of Origin (MSO) and Bill of Sale (BOS) are needed for registration. The MSO is printed on blue safety paper with the original signature. We typically place these documents in a protective pocket adhered to the outside of the boat box. Check the outside boat box for these documents before discarding the boxes. We are required to collect sales tax for most places we ship to in the United States and some countries. If we did not collect tax, it may be due when you register the boat.
• Some boat specifications may be needed for registration, these can be found on the MSO and on page 4 of this document.
• For Sea Eagle owners who purchased their boat from one of our dealers or affiliates, a copy of the Bill of Sale cannot be provided by Sea Eagle, it must be obtained from the dealer or affiliate, but Sea Eagle can supply a replacement MSO.
• Boat registration stickers and numbers must be affixed to the boat in most jurisdictions. Registration stickers and vinyl numbers will not adhere well to an inflatable boat. Stretching from inflation and deflation causes vinyl numbers to peel off and the
  registration sticker to break up. We recommend gluing a plate for the sticker to the boat, using stencils and paint or a marker for the numbers, or purchasing a boat number plate online. Search the web for boat number registration plates for inflatable boats.

NICB
The hull identification number (HIN) for each boat Sea Eagle sold or shipped from our headquarters is registered quarterly with the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB). If stolen, authorities can search the national database to see if anyone has registered the boat or it can be blocked from registration.

SAFETY

It is not possible to fully cover boating and boating safety in this owner’s manual. We recommend boating safety education through reading, videos, and mentorship from experienced boaters. Boating is challenging and inherently dangerous. Follow safe practices, be fit enough to meet the challenges of boating, and be prepared for any weather conditions that may occur. Build experience, start with small, easy trips.
The information in the owner’s manual is supplied with the understanding that the boat will be operated using good seamanship with attention to safe loading, safe operating conditions, and safe operation. How the boat is loaded and operated is the responsibility of the operator.
Intended Use: The EZLite™10 is intended for near-shore recreational use. The EZLite™10 is not self-bailing, and should not be used in whitewater or in the surf.
Boating Safety Course
In the United States, the Coast Guard is the authority on boating operations and safety. Many state and international requirements go beyond Coast Guard requirements including boating safety course and certification requirements. Call or visit local jurisdiction websites for more information. Some states are requiring certification courses for operators of motorized boats.
Local Knowledge
Some agencies including parks and environmental protection departments may have special requirements. Be aware of dam release schedule, dangerous river hydraulics, tide flow issues, and similar.
Each Sea Eagle has a safety summary we call Boating Safety Basics printed on it. Please follow these suggestions and use good boating safety practices. In addition to the basics, we suggest you have a reasonable swimming ability and know that it is safer to go boating with a buddy. If you go alone, tell someone your float plan as described below. When possible, plan your trip so you go upwind on the way out and downwind on the way back.
Boating Safety Tips

• Always wear a USCG-approved PFD (life vest) at all times while on the water.
• Be aware of your local boating rules and regulations and abide by them accordingly.
• Check inflation levels each time before you go out and inflate your boat for a full 24 hours before undertaking long trips.
• DO NOT allow children to use your Sea Eagle unsupervised.
• DO NOT consume alcohol while boating or operating a boat while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.•
• DO NOT exceed the certified maximum capacities of this boat under any circumstance.
• DO NOT go paddling alone.
• DO NOT use compressors, CO2 or compressed air for inflation, only use Sea Eagle-recommended pumps.
• DO NOT use your Sea Eagle Boat as a personal flotation device as they are not rated for that use.
• DO NOT sleep inside of your Sea Eagle while on the water.
• Bring a fully charged cell phone or other emergency contact device in a waterproof bag.
• Always tell someone of your boating plans.

Safety Equipment & Important Safety Items

• Life Jacket or Personal Flotation Device (PFD): Life Jacket or PFD of the correct size range is required. Choose a PFD that is comfortable for you and wear it at all times. Stay hydrated, and take steps to cool off and avoid heat stroke, such as wade or swim in the water. Statistics show that most drowning victims are relatively inexperienced boaters not wearing PFDs.
• Whistle: Every boat or boat under 16’ long must have a whistle or horn. Being heard by a passing boat can save your life, a whistle for each life jacket (PFD) is recommended.
• Drinking Water & Snacks: Paddle boating is a physical activity that can deplete your reserves. Have enough water and snacks to prevent dehydration and loss of stamina. Bring enough water for all passengers. Know the warning signs of dehydration and heat sickness such as dizziness and shaking.
• Extra Clothes/Layers: Avoid deadly hypothermia. Water conducts heat faster than air, so go prepared with weatherproof clothing especially if the water is cold. Use a “dry bag” to store extra clothing inside so they’re not damp when needed. Wear a wetsuit or dry suit when warranted.
• First Aid-Kit: Contents of the kit may vary depending on your preferences but be sure to include items that match the hazards you are likely to encounter. A waterproof container is recommended.
• Manual Pump/Repair Kit: Although our boats are both durable and rugged, it may be possible that you need to repair while on the water in which case you’ll need the repair kit and a manual pump to re-inflate the boat. If this is your first repair, you may also want to bring this instruction manual with you.
• Sun/Rain Protection: A hat can protect both your face and head from the rain or sun. Sunscreen will help prevent serious damage to your skin from the sun and the sun’s reflection from the water. Reapply sunscreen as needed.
• Float Plan & Phone: Similar to a pilot’s Flight Plan, consider having a Float Plan (www.floatplancentral.org). Always tell someone where you are going to be boating and what time you plan to return. Keep a cell phone in a waterproof container that will float if it falls in the water, on a lanyard, in a life jacket pocket, or other secure location.
• Right of Way: Stay out of boat channels whenever possible. Be prepared to yield right of way to larger boats especially if the oncoming boat has structures such as cabins or open hatches that limit visibility of the water ahead.

OPERATING YOUR SEA EAGLE

EZLite™ 10 – Inflatable Kayak Made Entirely Of Woven Drop Stitch Material!
Woven Drop Stitch material is a new kind of drop stitch material using flat threads that are woven rather than knitted. The flat threads allow this material to be lighter and stronger than standard knitted drop stitch material. Thousands of flat woven high tensile strength threads connect the top and bottom fabric layers, creating thousands of I-beam supports. This enables the EZLite™ to be an incredibly rigid kayak when inflated up to 10 psi. This new kayak also has a V Bottom Woven Drop Stitch Floor that improves the ease and speed of paddling. The combination of the V-bottom floor and the unique Woven Drop Stitch construction makes the EZLite™ as fast as any 10’ rigid kayak and provides the added benefit of being incredibly light and able to pack in its own backpack.
Operating Your Sea Eagle
PADDLING: For the most effective paddling, sit up straight and hold the paddle out in front of you with hands out wide enough that the forearms are perpendicular to the shaft (like a push-up position). Most of the power should come from your torso.
Your arms contribute, but too much reliance on your arms will cause you to tire quickly. For good balance, especially in heavy seas, keep your head up and your eyes focused on the horizon.
Start paddling gently and smoothly. As the kayak picks up speed it will maintain a truer heading. If you dig in hard at first you will create more yaw. Course corrections can be made by easing up or bearing down on one side or the other.
Gentle turns can be made by sweeping water behind the boat. Sharp turns can be made by using the paddle as a brake on one side. Braking will allow you to maneuver sharp bends in a stream, for example, but kills forward speed.
BALANCE: The EZLite10 is a V-shaped boat that is more stable than a flat- bottomed inflatable kayak. Take a minute while close to shore to find your balance in the kayak. Hold the paddle out in front of you for balance and keep your eyes on the horizon. Feel the balance of the boat as you begin to gently paddle. If the boat begins to roll back and forth, move your eyes to the horizon while holding the paddle out in front of you. This can take practice and is especially difficult in the heat of the moment. Looking down and side to side will increase the rolling action. Make sure all the items you bring like bags, coolers, and water bottles are secured so they won’t float away. To avoid capsizing, paddle directly into the oncoming boat wake.
YAW: Yaw is the side-to-side motion produced by paddling which causes the boat to zig-zag. To minimize yaw, install the skeg into its base on the bottom of the boat.

Invasive Species Control
If the boat is to be used in multiple waterways, fully drain the boat, rinse, and dry between uses. The boat is resistant to steam cleaning and chemicals. It can be rinsed with a disinfectant such as a bleach solution. Call or check the website of the local fish and wildlife authority for more information on how to prevent the spread of invasive plants and animals and their requirements.

WARNING: Solvents used in materials contained in this product such as methyl ethyl ketone, toluene, and acetone are known to cause disease in humans. The off-gassing of solvents is most concentrated when the product is new. Open packaging in well-ventilated area and avoid transportation in enclosed vehicles with occupants when new.

WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including DEHP [Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate)], which is known to the state of California to cause Cancer, Birth Defects or other reproductive harm.

Compliance
Sea Eagle boats comply with ABYC Standards, US Coast Guard standards for recreational boats, and labeling for compliance with California Proposition 65.
Avoid Damage

• CAUTION: Avoid damaging the boat. Do not drag a Sea Eagle boat over abrasive surfaces such as parking lots and concrete boat ramps. Do not scuff a folded boat on an abrasive surface, protruding folds or creases can be damaged. Carry or wheel your Sea Eagle from your vehicle to the setup point, and then into the water when assembled.
• CAUTION: Cart, dolly or trailer wheels rubbing on an inflatable boat can do a lot of damage, be sure the boat is clear of wheels.
• CAUTION: When using a ratchet strap to secure an inflatable, use a protective pad between the boat and the ratchet mechanism to prevent a puncture. Repair kit patch material is ideal for this purpose.
• CAUTION: Avoid puncturing the boat with screws or other hardware. Follow instructions when screwing hardware into Scotty glue-on pads. The resulting damage is difficult to repair and is not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.

Electric Air Pumps

Inflate boats using electric pumps, like Sea Eagle’s Mega or Handy pumps, which are intended for use with inflatable boats and SUPs that are constructed of reinforced PVC. The pump should have an automatic shut-off. The hose must accommodate a “recessed” or Halkey-Roberts-type valve adapter. Typically these adapters are hook-in style, and have a choice of flexible gaskets to prevent air from leaking between the valve and adapter. Bravo pumps require a black or red gasket. Most other manufacturers’ adapters come with a choice of milky white gaskets, the thinnest work best with Sea Eagle valves.

DANGER: Chamber failure with explosive force may result if air compressors designed for construction, tire inflation or workshop tool use is used to inflate an inflatable watercraft. Serious bodily injury could result. Only use air pumps designed for inflatable boats and SUPs.

VALVES & PUMPS

SETUP: VALVES & PUMPS

Remove Valve Cap
EZLite10 has a floor chamber and top chamber, with one valve each. Twist cap counterclockwise and pull it out of the valve body.

Using Recessed Valve
Press the stem button down and turn it ¼ turn in either direction so it pops UP when released. When the stem is up, the valve is closed for inflation and will hold air.
To let air escape for deflation, press the button and turn the stem ¼ turn and release it. It should stay in the downward position.

Double Action Hand Pump
Hand pump inflates on up and down strokes when in the double action mode. In single-action mode, the handle comes up easily. The down stroke is assisted by body weight.
Note: If your pump is different than this one, check the instructions page of our website for instructions, or call us for help.

Tip: Always have the manual pump available, even if you primarily use an electric pump.

Attach a Hose
To inflate the boat, attach the hose with a hook-in adapter to the pump handle by twisting the collar into the threaded opening until the hose is tight (about 1/8 turn).

Switch Modes

• Begin inflating in the double action mode for a faster fill. Air flows into the chamber on the up and down strokes. The modes are indicated on the collar in raised lettering.

• Use the lever to switch between modes.

• When the handle becomes too difficult to lift in double action mode, rotate lever counterclockwise to a single action.

• Check the hose end that goes in the board’s valve. It should have hooks to lock it in the valve opening.

ASSEMBLY & INFLATION

• Locate an area large enough to unfold the EZLite™ avoiding hazards that could damage the kayak or injure you.

• Inflate the floor and top chambers. The working pressure is 5-10 psi. Do not exceed 10 psi.

• When done, replace valve caps. The caps are part of a complete seal.

• Locate the right (R) and left (L) pedals and aluminum bars (9 7/8”).

• Run bar through its hole in the FlexBrace pedal, then through the pedal and into the end cap.

• Lock the bar in place by rotating the handle down into the locking hook.

• Repeat pedal installation on the other side. Pedal positions are numbered for easy alignment. Adjust the pedal while on the water by lifting the pedal with a foot and sliding the pedal fore or aft.

• Flip the boat over and slide the skeg into the skeg base. The skeg must go in far enough for the locking clip groove to line up with the slot in the skeg.

• Push the clip into the base until it clicks into place.

Tall Back Seat (TBS)
The TBS is made of thermal molded foam. Featuring a storage pouch on the back with a built-in zipper, the TBS provides great lumbar support with an 18” high backrest.

• Use the seat straps to clip each strap to the D-rings. The upper straps attach to the forward D-rings.

TIP: When getting in the kayak, place your weight on the seat pad and try not to knock back the upright backrest pad. Arch your lower back forward and avoid leaning high on the back of the seat. You will feel the seat support your lumbar region.

Deluxe Inflatable Seat (DKS)

• The DKS has two internal bladders, two white one-way valves and two blue straps with clips for securing the seat to the D-rings.

• The seat has two cushion bladders inside the cover. Each bladder requires a valve.

• The seat cover has a zipper opening on the bottom for access to the bladders for adjustment or removal.

Stretch the retainer ring over the valve base. Retainer ring fits in a groove in the valve base. Screw valves into bases. Tighten valves firmly so air does not escape while sitting on the seat. Unscrew the cap for inflation.
Tip: If the ring is too tight to fit over the base: pre-stretch, or soften the ring by heating it with hot water or hairdryer. Install while ring is still warm and stretchable.

• To inflate the seat screw the hose with a wide-mouthed cone-shaped adapter into the pump handle by twisting the collar onto the threaded opening in the pump handle until the hose is tight (about 1/8 turn).

• Push the valve adapter firmly into a valve, and pump the seat to the desired firmness. The gauge may not move because of low pressure in the bladders. Do not over-inflate, seat may be more stable if it is soft enough to conform to the V-shaped floor. Screw cap onto the valve.

• Place the seat in the center of boat. Adjust the strap buckle until strap is maximum length. Hook seat straps to D-rings in the floor.

• Caution: Avoid capsizing. DKS seat raises the center of gravity. Use caution and maintain balance.

• To deflate the seat, unscrew the valves to allow air to escape.

• The cargo hold-down elastic straps at the front and back of the kayak are adjustable. To adjust, pull on the free end until the cord comes out of the jamb clip. Adjust the length and pull the cord down into the locked position

Kayak Paddle

• The asymmetrical spoon blade design of this kayak paddle will allow for a smooth entry and an even pull, maximizing the power of each stroke. It also requires less gripping force.

• The AB40 paddle, top, includes a right blade, a left blade, 2 drip guards and 2 shaft pieces.

• The AB50 Pro Carbon Paddle, bottom, includes 2 drip guards and a right and left blade/shaft. This paddle breaks down into 2 pieces.

• Assembly for both paddles is similar. The 4-part AB40 is shown.

• Begin by connecting the two halves of the shaft by inserting the push pin on the end of one shaft into the end of the other shaft that has the three feathering holes.

• Next, slide the drip guard up the shaft to about an inch above the buttonhole. Insert the blade into the shaft and adjust until the button locks the blade in place. Repeat for the other side.

TIP: One shaft section has holes for feathering. By feathering the paddle, the blades are offset from each other so that when one blade is in the water, the other is at an angle to slice through the wind with little resistance.

EZLite™ Kayaks | DEFLATION

• Remove the seat and FlexBrace pedals. Pedals have clips on the back side for securing bars to pedal for stowing. Flip the boat over, remove the skeg clip, and slide the skeg out of the base.

• To deflate, push down on the valve stem and quarter-turn it to the right. The stem will stay in the down position, allowing the air to escape.

• Warning: Air escapes with force, do not place face directly over valve.

• Begin folding the boat from the bow (end opposite the valves). Make a crease just behind the front carry handle.

• Continue folding toward the valves, pushing air out as you go.

• Fold boat all the way to the end, the rear carry handle should be covered by the folded boat. Press out any remaining air.

• Then, unfold two folds. Fold the back towards the front twice. Place the large folded portion on top of the rear portion. This will place the skeg base in a flat position, which will keep the base from getting warped.

• Slide folded boat (approx. 35”x17”x6”) and accessories into the backpack bag.

• The boat, paddles, seat, FlexBrace pedals, skeg, repair kit, and pump will fit in the bag. The packed-out bag weighs approximately 38 lbs.

CLEANING & PROTECTING

EZLite™ Kayaks | CLEANING & PROTECTING

Dry after each use to avoid mold. While washing or rinsing: close the valve and twist the cap on so water cannot not enter the chamber. Sea Eagles can be cleaned very effectively with general-purpose cleaning products and a scrub brush. Towel dry.

Protection from the Sun and Heat

• Avoid leaving the boat in direct sunlight when ashore.
• Temperatures on a beach, dock, davit, etc. can get very high, which could affect the vinyl or glue. Excessive exposure to sun and heat can cause your Sea Eagle to become sticky or cause the glue to fail.
• Treat the boat with a UV protectant such as 303 Aerospace Protectant. Generally, protectants are a thin film of oil, which will help keep your Sea Eagle clean. Avoid applying a protectant on the EVA pad or places where foot traction is needed. Treated boats will repel sand, water scum and tar stains.

EZLite™ Kayaks | STORAGE

If you’re planning to leave your Sea Eagle outside, keep it raised off the ground and covered so it is not exposed to sunlight, rain, leaves, berries, bird droppings, etc.

• Check for water in the chambers. Water will leak out of open valves when it is rolled up.
• Water left inside can leak out and cause a lot of mold. Dry thoroughly to prevent mold.
• Rodent-proof the storage area. Mice, squirrels, and other small rodents can do a lot of damage.
• Avoid excess heat. Do not store in direct sunlight, in an attic, or a metal shed.
• In temperatures below freezing, do not drop, strike, or unroll until it is brought to room temperature.
• It can be stored inflated. If hung, support it along its length.
• After storage, inspect for loose items, damage, and leaks.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Skeg Base
If the skeg base is bent from storage or use, heat it up with a hairdryer and bend it back into shape. It will hold its shape after it cools. If not folded properly, the base can get warped in storage.
Never hammer the skeg into a warped base as it will break the base

Troubleshoot Valve Adapter
The adapter will not turn in valve opening. Remove the red gasket and twist it tightly to stretch it. Once broken in, the adapter will turn easily.

• Reinstall the gasket, the groove must be facing outward. Press the adapter into the valve opening with force and turn it to the right.
• If the valve opens and air rushes out when removing the adapter, pull on the hose then twist the adapter to the left.

Tighten Valve
Insert the valve tool into the valve opening. The valve has a base inside. Tightening is best done when the boat is inflated which keeps the base from spinning. If the chamber will not hold air, stand with feet on either side of the valve to hold the base.

• Press on the center of the valve tool with a free hand to keep from breaking the teeth off the tool. If loosening a very tight valve, an extension tube might be needed.

If your Sea Eagle has lost pressure, it does not necessarily mean it is leaking. If it is inflated during the heat of the day and the temperature drops during the night it will be softer in the morning. If launching in very cold water, the air inside may contract and cause a loss of pressure. Add more air to restore to full pressure. If temperature is not a factor and your boat is losing air pressure, it’s time to look for a leak.

Step #1. LOOK
Visually inspect the boat close up and if necessary, flip it over and closely check the outside. Any large leaks when your boat loses a considerable amount of air should be clearly visible.
Step #2. LISTEN
If you have a rough idea of where your leak is but can’t see it, you may want to try listening for it as you may be able to hear the air escaping and pinpoint the leak.
Step #3. TIGHTEN
Check the tightness of the one-way recessed valves as well and if necessary, tighten them with the valve wrench included in the repair kit canister.

Step #4. SOAPY WATER TEST
You’ll need a bucket and liquid dish washing soap. Fill the bucket with clear water, and add a good squirt of soap (couple of tablespoons) to the water. Inflate the leaking chamber to full pressure. Spread lots of soapy water on the leaking chamber with a hand towel or large sponge. Don’t assume the leak is coming from the valve or seams. The leak may produce bubbles, make hissing or sputtering noises, or spray water. Spray bottles are not effective at locating many leaks.

Even though Sea Eagles are very rugged and tough, you may still experience the occasional puncture. Fortunately most repairs are fairly easy and only take a few minutes. For extensive repairs, please contact us directly to provide you with further assistance. The best way to do this is to e-mail us a digital photo of the area in question along with your hull identification number to staff@seaeagle.com.

Sea Eagle repair fees start at $75.00 and does not include return shipping charges. Please note that Sea Eagle does not service any other brand other than our own. All items sent to our repair facilities must have prior authorization in the form of a Return Authorization Number.

Repair Kit
All Sea Eagles come standard with a repair kit which includes PVC patches and PVC glue. Repair kits also include a valve tool.

PVC Based Glue

• To patch your Sea Eagle, use an adhesive for PVC boats.
• Plumber’s cement, epoxy, Flex Seal, waterpoofing sprays and Gorilla Glue do not work.

Pinholes

• Deflate the boat and thoroughly clean and dry the area that is to be repaired.
• For small punctures less than 1/8” apply a small drop of glue and allow 24 hours to cure.

• For immediate use allow 30 minutes to dry and then inflate the compartment only 3/4 full and if necessary make a more permanent repair later.

Patching

• The most common repairs are a puncture or small cut. A penny size patch is sufficient for repairs of this type.

• Trace the outline of a penny on the patch material and on the boat. If a larger patch is needed, use a larger item as a template.

• Cut patch along the outline with scissors.

Pro Tip: Trace the outline of the penny on masking tape and cut with a utility knife. Apply tape to the boat instead of tracing on the boat.

• Apply glue to the patch and boat. Allow to dry 15 minutes. Glue must be dry to the touch. If glue layer is thin, apply second coat, allow to dry 15 minutes.

• Apply patch to the boat. Smooth with finger or a smoothing tool such as a spoon, handle of a utility knife, or screwdriver. For best results, heat patch with a hair dryer 10-20 seconds and smooth with tool.

Patching Tips

• The chamber must be deflated or the air will force a path through the glue.
• Keep the patch size to a minimum, the bigger the patch, the harder it is to seal. The most common repair failures occur because the patch is too big.
• For repairs larger than a puncture, overlap the damage area by about ½” on each side.
• Do not apply the patch while the glue is wet.
• Covering a leaking patch with another patch rarely fixes the problem. To remove a patch, heat it with a hair dryer and peel it off.
• For field repairs, allow at least an hour to cure. Other repairs, allow to cure overnight.
• Patches can be removed by heating with a hairdryer.
• Never use a heat gun on your boat.
• Clamps and weights are not needed.

• Sea Eagle Mega Pump with internal battery is recommended. Use hook-in style adapter with thinnest gasket. Hold power button until display lights up. Set pressure to not more than psi. Press power button to start. Pump turns off automatically.

Sea Eagle Handy Pump

• The Sea Eagle Handy digital pump is a two stage electric air pump that is powered through a 12v accessory socket.
• Use hook-in style valve adapter with thinnest gasket.
• Hold power button until display lights up (3 sec).
• Set pressure to working pressure. Press power button to start. Pump turns off automatically.

• Transport your kayak from your car to the water and back with ease. Quickly assembles & disassembles.

303 Protectant (OPTIONAL)
