REGELTEX REV03-032021W ElectroVolt Insulating Gloves

Product Information

Specifications

  • Model: UIS REV03-032021W
  • Material: Natural rubber
  • Standards: EN-60903:2003, IEC-60903:2002

Product Usage Instructions

Storage and Transport

  • Store and transport gloves in their original package or glove bag.
  • Avoid compressing, folding, or storing near sources of light or heat.

Periodical Retesting and Shelf Life

  • Follow the recommendations in Appendix E of the EN-60903:2003 and IEC-60903:2002 standards for periodic retesting.
  • In case of doubt during visual inspection, send the gloves back for electrical testing or discard them.

Limiting Date of Use

  • There are no specific limitations defined by the standards for the use of the gloves.
  • However, it is recommended to regularly test the gloves for electrical safety due to the natural aging of the material.

FAQ

  • Q: Can I store the gloves in any bag?
  • A: It is recommended to store and transport the gloves only in their original package or a designated glove bag to ensure their longevity and safety.
  • Q: How do I know when to retest the gloves?
  • A: Refer to the standards EN-60903:2003 and IEC-60903:2002 for guidelines on periodic retesting. In case of any doubts during visual inspection, it is advised to conduct an electrical test.

Information

  • Store and transport gloves in their original package or glove bag. Do not compress, fold, or store near sources of light or heat.
  • Keep storage temperatures between 10°C and 35°C. Operating temperature between -40°C and + 55°C.
  • Do not expose gloves to oil, grease, turpentine, white spirit, strong acid, or other corrosives.
  • Before using the gloves, it is recommended to visually inspect the internal and external surfaces.
  • Conduct an air inflation test to detect leaks. Do not use wet gloves. Rinse gloves with soap and water.
  • Dry at temperatures below 65°C. No glove should be issued for service unless it has been subjected to an electrical retest within the previous 12 months, nor should be used unless it has been subjected to an electrical test within a maximum period of 6 months after being issued for service.
  • These gloves contain natural rubber.
  • Marking on gloves includes the number of the relevant Standards, IEC 60417-5216 symbol (double triangle), size, class, category, batch number, month and year of production, manufacturer name, and a reference allowing the inclusion of commissioning dates and periodic inspection.
  • National requirements for periodic inspection and testing of class 00 and class 0 gloves may be considered adequate.

PERIODICAL RETESTING AND SHELF LIFE OF INSULATING GLOVES

  • 60903:2003 and the IEC-60903:2002 standards (which define the specifications of those gloves) are precisely the recommendations in use in Appendix E.
  • It is very important to note that this appendix is informative (by this fact, it is not an obligation to follow it), which can involve by user in different ways of considering this purpose.
  • This document is done to remember the position of the standards and to precise our position as a manufacturer.
  • Our point of view can not be considered as a contractual modality for the use of our products.

Extract from Appendix E of standards for the periodical retesting

  • No gloves of Classes 1, 2, 3, and 4, even those held in storage, should be used unless they have been tested within a maximum period of 6 months.
  • The test consists of air inflation to check air leaks, visual inspection while inflated, and then a routine dielectric test under subs 6.4.2.1 and 6.4.2.2 (routine test at the proof test voltage).
  • However, for gloves classes 00 and 0, a check for air leaks and visual inspection only is considered adequate.
  • Then, by the way of presenting their recommendations, those paragraphs leave the user in front of his responsibility to define and consider the way to proceed with the conditions of resting.

Our Point of View

Like the standard, we define two procedures depending on classes :

  • For classes 00 and 0, the electrical test would be the best way of checking. Because of the constraints involved, we estimate that inflating gloves BEFORE EACH USE is the minimum to do for checking their quality. The visual checking must be done very carefully to detect any alteration of the internal and external surface. The pneumatic tester optimizes the control notably for the cuff.
  • For gloves from the other classes, and because of the thickness, an inflation can not be operated. Then, the checking BEFORE EACH USE consists of looking very carefully at the internal and external surfaces of the gloves. In the same way, our position is to declare that gloves should be electrically retested every six months.

IN CASE OF DOUBT DURING THE VISUAL INSPECTION, THE PAIR OF GLOVES CONCERNED SHALL BE SENT BACK FOR ELECTRICAL TEST OR THROWN AWAY

Limiting date of use

  • Standards do not define any limiting of use for the gloves.
  • Just to remind you, the raw material basis used for the electrician gloves is natural rubber which is subjected to natural aging. As mentioned previously, the quality of gloves is, at best, evaluated by an electrical test, but no evaluation is done regarding mechanical
  • resistance, even if we know that the mechanical performances decrease naturally in time.
  • So, we estimate that it is important to take into consideration the aging effect for restocking gloves :
  • For classes 00 and 0, the use should not exceed 18 months from the date of manufacture (print on gloves)
  • For other classes, the period shall not be over 24 to 30 months.

The definition of the shelf life of gloves does not exclude following the recommendation of periodical retesting

Use & Storage Conditions

Standards precise that gloves can be used in a temperature between -40°C and 55°C. For the storing we recommend :

  • Either follow the instructions for storage which are include in the directions for use: these being the best condition to keep gloves correctly
  • Or to take into consideration the storage and use conditions for defining a limiting date of use.
