Product Usage Instructions

Getting Started:

  1. Place the VFC 311 smart probe in the fridge to reach desired temperature.
  2. Connect the device to a computer using a micro-USB cable.
  3. Open a web browser and enter http://vfc.local in the address bar.
  4. Follow on-screen instructions to configure the device, recommending Push-to-start mode.
  5. Once configured, disconnect the device from the computer; the screen will display PUSH to Log.
  6. Insert the smart probe into the side of the device.
  7. Press the button on the device to view current temperature and start logging.

VFC Cloud Data Storage:

Store data securely and access it from any internet-connected device using VFC Cloud. Send logged data to the Cloud for easy sharing and analysis. Visit VFC Cloud for more information and account setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: How often should I check the Daily Audits?
    • A: Daily Audits should be checked off once a day and reset at midnight. It is not possible to complete two audits within one hour of each other.
  • Q: How do I stop an alarm sound?
    • A: By pressing the button on the device, you can mute the sounder until a new alarm is triggered.
  • Q: How can I view the data recorded so far without stopping the logging process?
    • A: You can plug the device back into your computer while it’s logging to view the recorded data without interrupting the logging process.

Getting to know your VFC 311-USB

  1. Alarm Status: displays when an alarm is active
  2. Days since alarm: Counts the days since the last alarm ended
  3. Time in alarm: displayed in HH:MM
  4. Battery level
  5. Main Reading: Updates every 10 seconds
  6. Max and Min: shows the maximum and minimum values of the current session
  7. Micro USB Port: Used to connect to a PC or to charge
  8. Button: See “Screens” section for uses
  9. Daily Audits: Can be checked off by the\ button. Resets every day at midnight
  10. The smart probe port is on this side

Getting started

  1. Place your VFC 311 smart probe in the fridge you are monitoring to let it get down to temperature
  2. No software is needed to configure your logger; simply connect it to your computer using a micro-USB cable
  3. Open your web browser and into the address bar type http://vfc.local
  4. The VFC 311-USB home page will load – save it to your Favorites or Bookmarks
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure your device. We recommend using the Push-to-start mode selection from the Start Mode tab
  6. Once you have configured your logger and the browser is showing the device’s dashboard page, disconnect the logger from your computer. The device will be showing PUSH to Log on the screen
  7. Plug the smart probe into the side of the logger, ensuring it is fully inserted
  8. Press the button on the logger and the current temperature reading will show on the display. Your device is now logging!

Once the logger is running you can plug it back into your computer and, without having to stop it logging, view the data recorded so far.

Not Logging

Displays when the logger is not armed or logging.

Short press : will check for a reading from the Smart probe and flash a reading on the screen.

Running

Displays when the device is logging. Refer to “Getting to know your VFC 311-USB” for a description of the

segments on the screen.

| A short press of the button cycles between selecting the Max/Min values, the Daily Audit check boxes, and the main reading.


When the maximum and minimum values are flashing, a 3s push of the button will clear them. The values will show as ‘—’ until the next reading is taken.


When an Audit box is flashing, a 3s push of the button will check the Audit box. Note it is not possible to complete two audits within one hour of each other. The audits clear every day at midnight.


If the sounder is active because an alarm has been triggered, an initial short press of the button will mute the sounder until a new alarm is triggered.

Batteries

The rechargeable battery should only be replaced by the manufacturer. All internal components are non-serviceable. Contact us for details of our battery replacement service.

Repairing or modifying

Never attempt to repair or modify this product. Dismantling these products, including the removal of external screws, may cause damage that is not covered under the warranty. Servicing should only be provided by the manufacturer. If the product has been submerged in water, punctured, or seriously damaged do not use it and return it to the manufacturer.

Charging

Only use a USB Power Adaptor or a USB port to charge this products. Read all safety instructions for any third party products and accessories before use with this product. We are not responsible for the operation of any third party accessories or their compliance with safety and regulatory standards. For safety, it is not possible to charge the battery if the temperature exceeds 40°C. It may take up to 8 hours to charge a flat battery.

Using connectors and ports

Never force a connector into a port; check for obstruction in the port, make sure that the connector matches the port and that you have positioned the connector correctly in relation to the port. If the connector and port do not join with reasonable ease they probably do not match and should not be used.

Disposal and recycling

You must dispose of this products according to relevant laws and regulations. This products contains electronic components and lithium polymer batteries and therefore they must be disposed of separately from household waste.
