IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING YOUR UPRIGHT VACUUM.
When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should be observed,
including the following:
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY:
- Always connect to a polarized outlet (one slot is wider than the other). Do not modify the polarized plug to fit a non-polarized outlet or extension cord.
- Do not leave vacuum cleaner when it is plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before servicing.
- Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
- Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.
- Do not use for any purpose other than described in this User’s Guide. Use only manufacturer’s recommended attachments.
- Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, have it repaired at an authorized service center.
- Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
- Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
- Do not handle plug or vacuum cleaner with wet hands.
- Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep openings free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
- Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
- Turn off all controls before plugging or unplugging vacuum cleaner.
- Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
- Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible materials (lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene, etc.) or use in areas where they may be present.
- Do not use vacuum cleaner in an enclosed space filled with vapors given off by oil base paint, paint thinner, some moth proofing substances, flammable dust, or other explosive or toxic vapors.
- Do not use to pick up toxic material (chlorine bleach, ammonia, drain cleaner, etc.).
- Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
- Do not use without filters in place.
- Do not pick up hard or sharp objects such as glass, nails, screws, coins, etc.
- Use only on dry, indoor surfaces.
- Keep appliance on a level surface.
- Do not carry the vacuum cleaner while it is running.
- Unplug before connecting or disconnecting the TurboEraser® Tool.
Save These Instructions: This model is for household use only.
WARNING: Plastic film can be dangerous. To avoid danger of suffocation, keep away from babies and children.
WARNING: Do not plug in your vacuum cleaner until you are familiar with all instructions and operating procedures.
THIS APPLIANCE HAS A
POLARIZED PLUG
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one
blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only
one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it
still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install a proper
outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.

Assembly
The only tool you will need to assemble your vacuum is a Phillips screwdriver.
-
Slide handle down over body of vacuum.
-
Insert two screws and fasten using screwdriver.
-
Insert hose with elbow end facing down and align, locking tab with slot. Rotate clockwise until snapped into place.
-
Take the opposite end of the hose and open the foot base door. Insert hose end into foot and push into place.
Once inserted into the foot, hose should be stretched into the side and upper hose clips.
-
Install Pet TurboEraser Tool in front of vacuum by inserting end upward into handle until “clicks”.
-
Select models include a Febreze® filter. To switch your filter, remove the dirt tank by pushing the release button on the tank handle and lifting away.
NOTE: The Long Reach Dusting Tool does not store on-board (see Tools section for usage).
Operations
Power On & Settings
-
To power ON, step on the RED Power Switch Pedal located near the bottom on the back side. Push the lower Handle Recline Pedal two times for an even lower recline.
-
Turn dial on foot to adjust to 1 of 5 height adjustments.
Lowest Setting: For low pile carpet and bare floors.
Medium Setting: For medium pile carpet.
Highest Setting: For high pile and most shag carpet. Adjust to high setting if difficult to push.
NOTE: For optimal cleaning, adjust to the lowest practical setting. If your vacuum is difficult to push, or is pushing larger debris, adjust to the next higher setting.
Tools
-
To attach any of the included tools, remove the lower wand base from the foot of the vacuum and from both hose clips. Insert the desired tool firmly into the hose end.
-
TurboEraser™ Tool Remove tool by pulling away and downwards from vacuum. For best use, press the brush gently down and pull towards you in raking motion; too much pressure will cause brush to stop rotating.
-
Crevice Tool
Use in narrow spaces or along baseboards and edges.
Extension Wand
Attach with desired tool for longer reach.
-
Long Reach Dusting Tool
Use for dusting large surfaces in your home including tables, curtains and other furniture.
Maintenance
Empty Dirt Tank
-
Remove tank by pressing the release button on the tank handle.
-
Grasp handle on back of tank with one hand and the top handle with the other. Twist the top handle counterclockwise until latches release. Pull the top handle straight up from the dirt tank.
-
Empty contents of dirt tank into trash container, and gently shake the top handle to remove build up.
-
Place the top handle straight down into the dirt tank. Align the latch arrows and gently twist clockwise. When fully assembled, the tank will click into place. Replace the tank back onto the vacuum
***** it will click when fully installed.
NOTE: If you notice excess build up around the top of the tank, before removing top piece, gently tap the tank to allow contents to settle.
Pre-Motor Filter
-
Remove the dirt tank to locate and remove the premotor filter. Pinch the filter and lift to remove from unit.
-
While holding over trash, gently separate filter layers (being careful not to rip filter layers) and shake out excess debris.
NOTE: Filter can be rinsed in warm water. Allow it to completely dry before replacing. If the filter is damaged, replace the part.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electrical shock, turn power switch off and disconnect polarized plug from electrical outlet before performing maintenance or troubleshooting checks.
Post-Motor Filter
-
Located on the front near the height adjustment knob, remove filter door by pressing and pulling latch downward.
-
Remove the filter by grasping the handle on the front of the filter and pulling out from vacuum. Clean by tapping the filter on the side of a trash container or replace filter, as necessary.
-
Replace filter in unit with handle facing you. Replace the door by hooking the bottom into the grooves and rotate towards unit, snapping into place.
NOTE: The pleated postmotor filter may NOT be washed with water or detergent. If dust and/or debris accumulates on filter, gently tap the filter on the side of a garbage container.
WARNING: Do not operate vacuum with damp or wet filters, as well as without filters or the Dirt Container in place. Allow components to dry before reassembling the Dirt Container.
Floor Brush Roll
-
Ensure vacuum is unplugged. Place handle in low position, remove hose from foot and turn vacuum over bottom side up. Remove 6 screws with a Phillips head screwdriver. Lift brush cover off of the vacuum.
-
WGrasp rotating floor brush at both ends and lift straight out of the vacuum foot. Slip off the belt.
-
Clean debris from rotating floor brush, motor pulley, drive belt and air passageway areas.
NOTE: For ease of screw removal and replacement, use a magnetic Phillips screwdriver.
Drive Belt
-
With rotating brush removed (steps 1-3 maintenance floor brush roll), grasp old drive belt and remove from motor pulley.
-
Place new belt over motor pulley and stretch other end over the floor brush.
-
Place ends of rotating floor brush down into slots. Reposition bottom cover and replace all 6 screws.
Cleaning the Dirt Tank
-
With the top handle removed, wash the dirt tank in warm water with mild detergent. Allow tank to air dry.
-
Twist top handle from the round separator counterclockwise to release. Wash in warm water with mild detergent. Dry completely before reassembling.
-
Align tabs to return separator to top handle. Align latch arrows and twist tank clockwise until “clicks” into place.
Clearing a Clog
-
Remove dirt tank and check suction inlet located on body of vacuum for debris.
-
Grasp upper hose end and twist elbow counterclockwise to remove. Remove lower hose end by pulling it from vacuum base. Unclog by inserting a “blunt” object, like a broom handle, into hose to dislodge blockage. Do not use sharp objects.
NOTE: If clog persists, follow the floor brush roll maintenance steps and inspect air passageways for obstructions.
