IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

  • Read all instructions.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against risk of electrical shock do not immerse cord, plugs or appliance in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Please call our Consumer Support at the toll-free number listed in the warranty section.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • To disconnect, turn the toast shade selector to OFF , then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use this appliance for other than intended use.
  • Oversized foods, metal foil packages, or utensils must not be inserted in a toaster, as they may create a fire or risk of electric shock.
  • A fire may occur if the toaster is covered or touching flammable material, including curtains, draperies, walls and the like, when in operation.
  • Do not attempt to dislodge food when toaster is plugged in.
  • Do not operate unattended.
  • When heating toaster pastries, always use the lightest toast color setting.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • Turn the toast shade selector to OFF before disconnecting power cord if unit is in use.
  • Warning: To prevent electrical shock, unplug before cleaning
  • Warning: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, operate with crumb tray closed.

POLARIZED PLUG

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

ELECTRICAL CORD

  1. A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
  2. Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
  3. If an extension cord is used:
    • The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance;
    • If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord; and
    • The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

HOW TO USE

This product is for household use only.

GETTING STARTED

  • Remove all packing material, any stickers, and the plastic band around the power plug.
  • Please visit www.prodprotect.com/blackanddecker to register your warranty.
  • Place toaster on a flat, level surface, where the top of the unit has enough space for the heat to flow without damaging the cabinets or walls.
  • Remove tie from cord and unwind.
  • Plug unit into electrical outlet.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR TOASTER

  • For first time use, select setting 4 (medium). Re-adjust the setting to suit your personal preference on successive toasting operations.

CANCEL SETTING

To interrupt toasting at any time, turn the dial to the cancel setting . After cancel feature is activated, turn the dial back to the desired toaster setting.

NOTE : If the dial is left on the cancel setting the toaster will not operate.

CONTROL LEVER WITH BUILT-IN EXTRA LIFT

This toaster has a built-in toast control lever with extra lift. If toasted food does not clear the top of the toaster use the toast control lever to raise the food for easy removal.

TOASTING CYCLE

  1. Adjust toast shade selector to the desired setting (1 through 7).
  2. Insert slices of bread, bagels or other foods to be toasted in appropriate slot and press toast control lever until it locks into the down position. The self-adjusting guides automatically center food being toasted.
  3. When toasting is complete, the toast control lever releases and the appliance shuts off.
  4. Unplug the toaster when not in use.

REMOVING EXCESS CRUMBS

  1. To remove excess crumbs, let unit cool, unplug unit, open crumb door – shake excess into appropriate trash receptacle. Close and latch crumb door before using.

CARE AND CLEANING

This product contains no user serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified service personnel.

CLEANING
Always unplug the cord from electrical outlet and allow toaster to cool before cleaning. Do not immerse toaster in water.

CLEANING OUTSIDE SURFACES
Important: The unit gets hot. Allow the toaster to cool completely before cleaning.

  • Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth or sponge and dry with a paper towel.
  • Do not use strong cleaners or abrasives that may scratch surfaces and never spray cleaners directly onto the toaster.

What does your warranty not cover?
• Damage from commercial use
• Damage from misuse, abuse or neglect
• Products that have been modifjed in any way
• Products used or serviced outside the country of purchase
• Glass parts and other accessory items that are packed with the unit
• Shipping and handling costs associated with the replacement of the unit
• Consequential or incidental damages (Please note, however, that some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of consequential or incidental damages, so this limitation may not apply to you.)

Are there additional warranty exclusions?
• This warranty shall not be valid where it is contrary to U.S. and other applicable laws, or where the warranty would be prohibited under any economic sanctions, export control laws, embargos, or other restrictive trade measures enforced by the United States or other applicable jurisdictions. This includes, without limitation, any warranty claims implicating parties from, or otherwise located in, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria and the disputed Crimea region.
