REMOVE RIGHT SIDE OEM TOP MOTOR MOUNT
Before the P4201 Adventure Side Guards can be installed, the OEM top Motor
Mount Bolts must be removed.
NOTE: The top right Motor Mount Bolt has a special Stepped Washer.
This must stay in place with the smaller stepped side inwards.
Using a 17mm Socket and Ratchet, remove the top right Motor Mount Bolt and set
it aside
INSTALLATION STEP 2:
INSTALL RIGHT SIDE GUARD ONTO MOTORCYCLE
Take the Right Side Guard (B) and insert the Union Bar (C) until the first threaded hole lines up. Insert one Button Head Screw (G) to secure it, but only finger-tight for right now.
Carefully orient the Right Side Guard into place to get the bottom U-Mount to wrap around the frame tube.
Now align the top Mount Plate of the Right Side Guard (B) with the Top Motor
Mount Bolt location indicated in Figure 1.
NOTE: Make sure the OEM Stepped Washer is inboard of the Right Side
Guard.
Reinstall the top right Motor Mount Bolt with a 17mm Socket and Ratchet, but
don’t torque it down yet.
Insert a Hex Head Screw (F) and Washer (E) through the rear of the bottom
U-Mount and join with a Flat Washer (E) and Hex Nut (D) on the opposite side.
NOTE: Fasteners should be lossely fitted until both sides are completely
installed.
NSTALLATION STEP 3:

…slide it onto the Union Bar (C) attached to the Right Side Guard (B).
Now align the top Mount Plate of the Left Side Guard (A) with the Top Motor
Mount Bolt location indicated in Figure 5.
Reinstall the top left Motor Mount Bolt with a 17mm Socket and Ratchet, but
don’t torque it down yet.
Insert a Hex Head Screw (F) and Washer (E) theough the rear and join with a
Flat Washer (E) and Hex Nut (D) on the opposite side (Figure 6). Make it
finger-tight for now.
Then, insert one Button Head Screw (G) into the Left Side Guard and Union Bar
(C) until fully seated (Figure 7).
INSTALLATION STEP 5:
TIGHTEN ALL HARDWARE AND OEM MOTOR MOUNTS
Using a 4mm Allen Wrench, firmly tighten the two Button Head Cap Screws (G)
securing the two Side Guards with the Union Bar (C).
Using a 6mm Allen Wrench and a 13mm Box End Wrench, securely tighten the Hex
Head Screws (F) and Hex Nuts (D) in both right bottom and left bottom Side
Guard Mounts.
Now you will tighten the top Motor Mount Bolts on the left and right sides of
the motorcycle to factory torque specs with a 17mm Socket and Ratchet.

WARNING
Never operate your vehicle with loose accessory mounting hardware. Check the
hardware for tightness regularly.
Motorcycles are built with enough frame rigidity to withstand the moderate
loads imposed on them by the foreseeable addition of an accessory(ies). If an
accessory(ies) adversely affects your vehicle’s stability, immediately remove
the accessory(ies). Do not operate a vehicle that exhibits unsafe handling
traits.
Have experienced service personnel correct any problem before driving with the accessory(ies) installed. For further questions concerning handling problems associated with an accessory(ies), contact your dealer, motorcycle manufacturer, or accessory manufacturer.
