If you notice a drop in vacuum performance check your brush roll and drive belt by following these instructions.
Remove the dirt container so it is easier to turn the vacuum over. Turn the vacuum over and press the foot detent to lay the foot flat. Remove the height adjustment plate with a flat head screwdriver by gently prying each latch on the sides free from the foot – rotate out to remove. Remove the seven screws – for ease of screw removal and replacement use a magnetic screw driver.
Rotate the vacuum back to front and lift top cover straight up and set aside.
If brush will not turn by hand, or belt is broken, remove the brush and the belt and replace the damaged part by ordering online at Bissell.com
If brush and belt are undamaged – clean off any debris on the brush or in the brush housing area.
Place the drive belt over the motor pulley and stretch the other end over the floor brush. Place the ends of the floor brush into the slots. Turn the brush by hand – If properly installed, drive belt will center itself on the rotating brush.
Reposition the top cover and rotate on the back side. Replace the 7 screws and snap in the height plate by aligning the ends opposite of the wheel to the latches and push down.
If the brush is still not turning, please take the unit to an Authorized Service Center to have a Quality Technician inspect the unit.
