  1. Go to: http://www.digital-watchdog.com/support-download/
  2. Search for your product by entering the part number in the “Search by Product” search bar. Results for applicable part numbers will populate automatically based on the part number you enter.

Attention: This document is intended to serve as a quick reference for the initial setup. It is recommended that the user read the entire instruction manual for complete and proper installation and usage.

CAMERA CONNECTION

Overview

NOTE: Install the Blackbody facing the camera, 9.8~14.7ft from the camera (10ft is recommended) and connect it to an adequate power supply.

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

  1. Install the Elevated Skin Temperature System software, available on Digital Watchdog’s website.
    a. Go to http://www.digital-watchdog.com
    b. Search for ‘EST software’ on the search bar at the top of the page.
    c. The latest software will appear in the search results. Click on the link to download the file to your computer and run the installation file.
    NOTE: The software is available for Windows® 10 OS only.

  2. When the camera connects directly to the PC, the following is assigned to the camera by default:
    • Camera IP address: 169.254.100.100.
    • Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0.

  3. Open the execution window on the monitoring PC by pressing the “Window+R” buttons. Enter ‘ncpa.cpl’ and press ‘enter’.

  4. Right-click on ‘Ethernet’ and select ‘Properties’ from the drop-down options.

  5. Double-click on ‘Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)’ in the Properties window.

  6. Enter the IP and subnet mask as shown below and click the OK button.IP setting

  7. Click the OK button in the Ethernet Properties window to close the window.

NOTE: Make sure the PC’s IP address is not overlapping with the camera’s IP address. The PC’s IP setting ranges arbitrarily from 169.254.100.1 ~ 169.254.100.254. Make sure to set the subnet mask to 255.255.0.0.

SETTING UP YOUR SCREENING STATION

  1. Install the camera facing away from the entrance or windows.
  2. Place the camera 6.5~16.4ft from the monitoring path (10ft is recommended).
  3. Place the camera at a 20° angle from the monitoring path.
  4. Make sure people are walking into the camera’s FoV rather than straight towards the camera.
  5. Place the Blackbody across from the camera, positioned in the corner of the camera’s FoV.
  6. The Blackbody should be 9.8~14.7ft from the camera (10ft is recommended). 5ft is the recommended height.
  7. Setup a monitoring station next to the camera with a monitoring PC and personnel. See STEP 1.
  8. One person in the FoV at a time.
  9. Recommended room temperature is 68° to 86°F (20° to 30°C), under 80% humidity.

NOTES AND CONSIDERATIONS:

  1. Allow the camera and Blackbody up to 5 minutes from power-up to calibrate properly.
  2. When installing a camera-only solution, allow up to 30 minutes to calibrate.Diagram 02
  3. When powering up the E.S.T. monitoring software, keep the camera’s FoV clear of people and moving objects for 10 seconds.Diagram 03
  4. Do not install the camera or Blackbody under an air conditioner duct.
  5. Strong fluorescent lights may impact temperature readings.
  6. Sunlight from windows and large glass doors in the camera’s FoV may cause false readings.
  7. Consider that any extensive physical activity performed before screening may impact the facial skin temperature captured by the camera.
  8. IMPORTANT! Always follow elevated temperature readings with additional screening such as a medical thermometer and wellness questionnaire.Diagram 04
