kookaburra How to Clean Your Commbox
Cleaning your CommBox screen will keep it germ free and protect the screen long term.
The science of germs
To kill bacteria on a screen the best solution is 60-70% isopropyl alcohol and water. More alcohol content is not more effective, in fact it can actually be less effective. Alcohol solutions between 60-80% are proven to make the COVID-19 virus inactive on surfaces. Anything over 80% alcohol evaporates too quickly to break down the lipid layer on the outside the virus to render it inactive The surface must be dry to touch before it is safe to use.
What we recommend to clean interactive and display screens as well as
accessories
At CommBox we recommend that you use isopropyl alcohol (60-70%) lotion or
spray and a mirco-fibre cloth.
This product and the cleaning process outlined below can be used on all
screens, keyboards, mouse, stylus pens etc
How to clean screens
- To begin cleaning, make sure the screen is turned off. We recommend that you apply the isopropyl alcohol (60-70%) solution to a microfibre cloth, don’t apply it directly to the screen.
- Then lightly wipe the cloth across the screen. You can leave the solution on the screen for a short amount of time so it can interact with the germs on the screen.
- Then use another clean microfibre in light circular motions to remove the oil, dirt and germs and dry up any remaining water drops.
- Do not push hard on the screen surface and make sure moisture doesn’t get into any openings.
- Once the screen is dry it is safe to use again
How to clean other accessories
- To begin cleaning, make sure the accessory is turned off. We recommend that you apply the isopropyl alcohol (60-70%) solution to a microfibre cloth, don’t apply it directly to the accessory
- Then lightly wipe the cloth across the accessory.
- Then use another clean microfibre cloth to remove the oil, dirt and germs and dry up any remaining water drops.
- Make sure moisture doesn’t get into any openings.
What we don’t recommend you use
Never use ammonia, bleach, soap, abrasive cream cleaner or a product with a higher alcohol content (over 70%). Never clean the screen with hand santitizer, solvents, nail polish remover. Avoid getting moisture into any openings. The products listed here could void your warranty.
Some screen manufacturers are adding antimircobial coatings to their screens. These coatings are not proven to be effective against viruses and the substance used is highly toxic while adding an unnecessary additional cost to the screen. Once the coatings are scientifically proven to protect our users we will considering adding them to our products for your safety.
