H B Fuller Fast 2K Deck Post Anchor Installation Guide
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor is a patented expanding composite that fills the peripheral void between a post and the hole for load bearing applications. In combination with a post, Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor forms a high strength composite that structurally supports patio decks, porches, verandas, barns, sheds and other accessory structures. In 3-5 minutes, Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor is strong enough to support posts and within in 15-30 minutes of pouring, building can begin on the posts.
Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor has been third party tested and was found to perform as well as concrete for load bearing applications. Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor has found comply with Section 1807.3 of the International Building Code and Subsection 9.12.3 of Division B of the National Building Code (NBC) of Canada 2015.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor is available in the following packaging:
- Retail cases of 10 x 33.8 fl.oz. (1 L) divided bags.
- Contractor cases of 12 x 33.8 fl.oz. (1 L) divided bags.
- Cases of 2 x 0.79 gal (3 L) sets of jugs.
- Sets of 15 gallon (60L) drums.
- Also available in 55 gallon (200L) drums or 275 gallon (1000L) totes. Please contact your sales professional.
NOTICE: For load bearing applications, posts must be set at least 6” below the frost line. Post must be at a depth such that at least 25% of the post length is under ground. Hole diameter should be selected to ensure the footing can handle the intended load (use the same diameter hole as would be used with concrete). Ideally, posts should be set in the middle of the hole but can be placed off- center to accommodate necessary post location for deck construction. Between 3 – 6″ of soil should be placed on top of the cured Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor to prevent damage in the event of fire.
-
While Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor can be installed at ambient temperatures ranging from -5°F to 105°F (-20°C to 40°C), Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor should be acclimatized to 65°F – 80°F (18°C – 27°C) for 1-2 hours prior to use to provide optimal
-
performance. Material applied at lower temperatures is slower to cure and yields a lower volume. Material applied at higher temperature provides a very short working time and a lower strength product.
-
Place the post in the hole, ensuring it is vertically plumb and in the desired position. Once the Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor is poured into the hole, the post should only be moved for 10 seconds. Ensure posts can be held for approximately 5 minutes after the installation of Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor. Bracing the post may help ensure its position is correct.
-
Ensure that any standing water present in the hole is less than ½” in depth – when more water is present, water should be removed with a pump, or have aggregate/soil/cement placed in the hole to increase the base of the hole above the water.
-
Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor will adhere to itself, allowing for additional material to be poured into holes that are larger than a single kit will fill. In the event too much material is used, Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor may be trimmed after hardening for 15 minutes.
-
Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor consists of Part A and Part B, and is sold in divided bags, a set of jugs or a set of drums. Please follow the applicable instructions below:
When installing posts using jugs of Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor- a. Affix the provided mixing blade to a handheld electric drill.
- b. Mix immediately beside the area of installation.
- c. DO NOT EXCEED THE STATED MIXING TIME AND DO NOT ALLOW MATERIAL TO START EXPANDING INSIDE THE JUG.
- d. Pour the entire contents of Component B into the larger Component A jug.
- e. Insert the mixing blade and mix for 30 seconds.
- f. Immediately pour Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor into the hole.
- g. Applying Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor on the post on all sides will help reduce the amount of water that will contact the post.
- h. After installation of Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor has begun, do not lift the post and complete adjustments to placement within the first 10 seconds.
When installing posts using drums of Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor
- a. Prepare all holes.
- b. Refer to dispensing pump instructions to ensure it is in good working conditioning. Attach air and material feed lines. Set the timer to the applicable volume output. Open all operating valves.
- c. Attach static mixer to the manifold.
- d. Aim static mixer at point of installation.
- e. Open the wand valve, pull the trigger and pump Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor into hole.
- f. Once pump automatically stops, close the wand valve and move to the next hole. IF BREAKS IN DISPENSING EXCEED 30 SECONDS, ATTACH A NEW STATIC MIXER
- g. Once all installations are complete, close wand value, remove static mixer and follow pump shutdown procedures.
CLEAN UP
Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor can only be mechanically removed after the product cures – clean while wet. Use of a cloth wetted with mineral spirits can assist in removing Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor before it hardens. Should Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor get on your skin, wipe it off as best as possible, then wash the area immediately when the product is still wet.
STORAGE, HANDLING & DISPOSAL
Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor should be stored in a cool place. Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor is freeze-thaw stable, so exposure to freezing conditions is acceptable. Prior to use Fast 2K™ Deck Post Anchor should be conditioned to between 65° to 85°F (18°C to 27°C) for 1-2 hours prior to use.
For safe use and disposal, please refer to the Safety Data Sheet. Disposal should be in accordance with Local, Provincial and Federal regulations for environmental protection for non-hazardous solid waste. For unused or expired material, completely mix the 2 components together and dispose as non- hazardous waste after product has cured.
Hole and post design is dictated by the design loads, load bearing strength
of the site soil and the local frost depth.
