BATTERY OPTIONS
PATHWAY is powered by a single AA-sized battery. It can be one of the following:
- Lithium-Ion
- A dry (disposable) battery
- A rechargeable battery
The battery compartment is accessible from the back of the player. To remove
the cover, take out the safety screw at the bottom to expose the cavity and
access the battery.
Playtime using a dry battery is about one-third less than with the Lithium-Ion
battery.
Requires external charger (not included)
BATTERY CHECK
PATHWAY monitors the battery capacity.
When the installed battery (any of the listed options) depletes to a certain
level, the player will notify of low battery by causing the LED to blink
intermittently.
Once the battery reaches the minimal level required for proper operation,
PATHWAY will bookmark the current playback position and turn itself off.
CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS
This section applies only to the LithiumIon battery option.
With proper care, a Lithium-Ion battery should perform well for several years.
If PATHWAY was shipped with this battery,
it would only be partially charged. Please fully charge it before the first
use following one of the charging methods below:
Connect any standard “USB” charger (regulated +5VDC, minimum 300mA) to the
micro-USB port on the bottom of the player for about 2 hours or until the
power LED stops blinking.
Connect PATHWAY to any standard computer USB port using a USB to micro-USB”
cable for about 2 hours or until the power LED stops blinking. Actual charge
time will vary according to the current battery capacity.
BATTERY CARE
This section applies only to the LithiumIon battery option.
- When not in use and whenever possible, keep the player in a cool place, which will also help to preserve battery life.
- Before stowing the player for prolonged periods, make sure the battery is at least partially charged.
- If stored for extended periods, it is recommended to recharge the player at least every 6 months, in order to prevent the battery from losing its ability to recharge.
- Should the battery become defective and unable to accept a charge, it is still possible to operate the player using a USB cable connected to a computer or an electric charger.
PROBLEMS WITH PATHWAY?
If your PATHWAY will not turn on, please try the following:
- If the Lithium-Ion battery is installed, please make sure it is charged according to CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS.
- If using a disposable battery, make sure the battery is good. If not, replace it.
- If the battery is OK, force a reboot of the player by holding for about 10 seconds. The player should restart automatically.
- If step #3 failed, try removing the battery and then reseating it in the battery compartment.
- If none of the above succeeded, please contact your sales representative for support.
WARNINGS
- Care must be taken to set the volume at the lowest level that can be heard comfortably. Prolonged exposure to loud sounds can cause gradual hearing loss.
- DO NOT expose player or battery to fire or extreme heat.
- Stop using player if you observe abnormal heat, odor, discoloration, leakage or deformation, especially near the battery compartment. Refer to a qualified technician for service.
- If the battery is removed from the player, handle it with care. Keep the exposed battery out of reach of children. DO NOT burn, puncture, disassemble or modify the battery.
- If battery leaks, dispose of it carefully in accordance with all local laws. Wash any skin or clothing exposed to battery liquid and avoid swallowing or contact with eyes. In the case of swallowing or contact with eyes, seek medical care immediately.
