Connection
WARNING: connect the appliance to the mains only after making all the
necessary connections.
Make sure to have inserted the batteries in the remote control, adjustments
may only be necessary with the remote control. Refer to the previous diagrams
and images (Figure 2) for the identification of the correct position of the
sockets on the decoder.
Antenna connection
Connect the coaxial cable of the antenna connected to the wall socket with the
RF IN socket (see Figure 2) on the back of the device.
Connection to the television
There are two way to connect the appliance to the television: through a HDMI
cable or a SCART cable (both cables are included in the packing). Choose the
most appropriate one based on the TV. If the TV is equipped with a HDMI
socket, using it to have the maximum video and audio resolution being a
digital output.
The SCART cable (not included) must be inserted in the proper socket on the television, following the correct polarity provided by the shape of the connector, and in the socket on the rear of the appliance (see Figure 2), automatically the television will show the home screen of the decoder, once turned on.
The HDMI cable (not included) must be inserted in the proper socket on the television and in the socket on the rear of the appliance (see Figure 2). It is recommended to take note of which TV socket is used (usually it is indicated as HDMI 1, HDMI 2, ….). The TV will not automatically display the initial screen of the decoder, it will be necessary to select the source using the TV remote control (see its manual, usually on the TV remote controls it is indicated as SOURCE, INPUT …; then choose the HDMI 1 icon .. or HDMI 2 or HDMI 3 based on the HDMI input to which the HDMI cable is connected).
Boot
Select the video source via the TV settings (see the TV manual for any
information), if the HDMI connection is used; instead with the SCART
connection the selection will be automatic. On the decoder display the “boot”
sign will appear.
The home screen “Installation Guide” allows the choice of the language (“Lingua OSD”) and of the country (“Paese”). The factory settings for those are “Italiano” (Italian) and “Italia” (Italy). Both the parameters can be changed via the arrows keys, after selecting what is wanted to modify, using the arrows keys on the remote control.
Once the choice is made press OK to start the automatic search of the channels.
This operation could require some minutes. At the end of the search there may be channel conflicts and a pop up will appear with which you will be asked to make a choice between one or more TV stations. Using the arrows keys of the remote control and the OK key it is possible to make the choice. Usually the first proposal is chosen from the list. If you don’t make the choice, you won’t be able to continue.
Once all the conflicts have been resolved, you can enjoy your favorite programs on TV.
IMPORTANT NOTES
In the event that the channels stored in the search are not arranged according
to the national standard which provides for their ordering according to their
importance (RAI 1 on channel 1; RAI 2 on channel 2; RAI 3 on channel 3,
Network 4 on Channel 4 ; Channel 5 on channel 5; Italy 1 on channel 6; LA7 on
channel 7 …), means that the LCN function is not active. To activate the LCN
order, please follow the instructions in the following chapter (Program).
Overview of the menus
The main menu is divided in several submenus: PROGRAM, PICTURE, CHANNEL SEARCH, TIME, OPTION, SYSTEM e USB. Access to the main menu is by pressing the MENU button on the remote control. Then using the arrows keys and selecting one of the icons relating to the various options with the OK button, you can access the various submenus.
Program
This menu allows to order, modify or delete the stored channels. To access the
PROGRAM menu, select the first icon in the upper left.
In this menu it is possible to proceed with the activation of the “LCN” function: select with the arrow keys “Sort by LCN” and then “LCN on”, as shown in the image above. In this way the channels will be arranged according to national importance. The factory setting provides that the channels are automatically arranged according to LCN, and the LCN ordering is active, just as in the image above.
Picture
This menu allows to modify the displaying format of the imagines. The format
is automatically set according to the TV to which the decoder is connected, if
this is not selected, select 576i/p or 702p if you are using a TV with only
the SCART socket, or 1080i/p if you are using a TV with an HDMI socket ( 1080p
gives maximum video resolution, but not all TVs support it).
To access the PICTURE menu, select the second icon in the upper left.
Channel search
This menu allows to search new channels, in automatic or manual way. To access
the CHANNEL SEARCH menu, select the third icon in the upper left.
IMPORTANT NOTE: the “Antenna power” parameter should normally be left Off, unless a portable indoor antenna that requires an external 5Vdc power supply is connected. These indoor antennas are special antennas and are designed to operate at 5Vdc, taking their power from the “RF IN” socket on the decoder.
By enabling the “Antenna power” function and connecting an antenna cable from the decoder to the indoor antenna, we will supply, through the same antenna cable, the voltage necessary to power the internal amplifier of the antenna. So, if the decoder is connected the antenna to the home TV system or an indoor antenna that does not require a voltage of 5Vdc, the antenna power supply must be left off.
Time
This menu allows the adjustment of the time zone and the automatic turning off
of the decoder through the “Sleep” function (it is possible to set from 1 to
12 hours). Entering “Power On / Off” it is possible to set the automatic
switching on and off of the decoder. To access the TIME menu, select the
fourth icon at the top from the left.
Option
This menu allows you to change the language of the on-screen menu (OSD),
subtitles or audio. To access the OPTION menu, select the fifth icon at the
top from the left.
System
This menu allows you to change the system settings. To access the SYSTEM menu,
select the sixth icon at the top from the left.
USB
This menu allows you to manage multimedia options. To access the USB menu,
select the seventh icon at the top from the left.
Network Apps
If the device is connected to the internet via the network cable, it is
possible to access some applications such as Youtube, news (RSS) weather and
IPTV. The decoder directly accesses Youtube content and has several fairly
intuitive options. The news application has some preloaded English-language
sites to draw from, but other links can be added. The Weather application
shows the weather forecast in the surroundings.
To access the network applications, enter the USB menu and select Network Apps and you will enter submenu such as the one in the figure, where you can select the application you are looking for.
ATTENTION: only if you are connected to the internet, you can access the Network Apps menu. If necessary, check that the lights next to the LAN port are on.
