1. Safety Guidelines

  1. Follow the installation instructions.

  2. Use the appliance
    • according to its intended use
    • in good condition
    • with due regard to safety and risk of danger.

  3. Note that the appliance is exclusively for use in the appli- cations detailed in these installation instructions. Any other use will not be considered to comply with require- ments and would invalidate the warranty.

  4. Please take note that any assembly, commissioning, servicing and adjustment work may only be carried out by authorized persons.

  5. Immediately rectify any malfunctions which may influence safety.

2. Description of function

Spring loaded pressure reducing valves operate by means of a force equalising system. The force of a diaphragm operates against the force of an adjustment spring. If the outlet pres- sure and therefore diaphragm force fall because water is drawn, the then greater force of the spring causes the valve to open. The outlet pressure then increases until the forces between the diaphragm and the spring are equal again.

The inlet pressure has no influence in either opening or closing of the valve. Because of this, inlet pressure fluctuation does not influence the outlet pressure, thus providing inlet pressure balancing.

3. Application

  • Medium: Water, compressed air, oil free
    compressed air
and nitrogen* in considera- tion of valid standards (e.g. DIN EN 12502)

  • Inlet pressure: max. 16 bar

  • Outlet pressure: 1.5 – 8 bar – DN50, DN125, DN150
    1.5 – 6 bar – DN200

4. Technical data

  • Operating temperature: max. 70°C
  • Nominal pressure: PN16
  • Minimum pressure drop: 1,0 bar
  • Diaphragm pressure loading max. 9,0 bar
  • Nominal size: DN50, DN125, DN150, DN200

° As part of an installation being approved according to PED requirements, this product must also be certified.

5. Scope of delivery

The pressure reducing valve comprises:

  • Housing with PN16 flanges per ISO7005-2, EN1092-2
  • Spring bonnet with adjustment screw
  • Adjustment spring
  • Valve system complete with diaphragm
  • Pressure gauge

7. Assembly

7.1. Installations Guidelines

  • Install in horizontal pipework with spring bonnet directed upwards

  • Install shutoff valves

  • The installation location should be protected against frost and be easily accessible
    – Pressure gauge can be read off easily
    – Simplified maintenance and cleaning

  • Install downstream of the filter or strainer
    – This position ensures optimum protection for the pres- sure reducing valve against dirt

  • Provide a straight section of pipework of at least five times the nominal valve size after the pressure reducing valve (in accordance with DIN EN806 part 2)

7.2. Assembly instructions

  1. Thoroughly flush pipework

  2. Install pressure reducing valve
    • Note flow direction
    • Install without tension or bending stresses

  3. Seal pressure gauge

8. Start-up

8.1. Setting outlet pressure

Set outlet pressure min. 1 bar under inlet pressure.

FIG 10 Setting outlet pressure

  1. Close shutoff valve on inlet
  2. Release pressure on outlet side (e.g. through water tap)
  3. Close shutoff valve on outlet
  4. Loosen hexagon nut
  5. Slowly open shutoff valve on inlet
  6. Rotate adjustment screw, until the pressure gauge shows the desired value
  7. Retighten hexagon nut
  8. Slowly open shutoff valve on outlet

9. Maintenance

We recommend a planned maintenance contract with an installation company
In accordance with DIN 1988, part 8, the following measures must be taken:

9.1. Inspection

9.1.1. Pressure reducing valve

Interval: once a year

  1. Close shutoff valve on outlet

  2. Check outlet pressure using a pressure meter when there is zero through-flow
    • If the pressure is increasing slowly, the valve may be dirty or defective. In this instance, carry out servicing and cleaning

  3. Slowly open shutoff valve on outlet

9.2. Maintenance

FIG 11 Maintenance

FIG 12 Maintenance

Frequency: every 1-3 years (depending on local operating conditions)
To be carried out by an installation company

  1. Close shutoff valve on inlet

  2. Release pressure on outlet side (e.g. through water tap)

  3. Close shutoff valve on outlet

  4. Loosen hexagon nut                                                                                                               Caution !
There is a spring in the spring bonnet. It may cause
injuries if the spring is derailing.
    • Make sure tension in compression spring is slak- kened!

  5. Slacken tension in compression spring
    • Turn control adjustment screw to the left (-) until it does not move any more

  6. Unscrew spring bonnet

  7. Check that diaphragm, seals, guide and seating bush are in good condition, and if necessary replace them

  8. Reassemble in reverse order

10. Disposal

  • Grey cast iron housing
  • Cast iron spring bonnet
  • Bronze valve seat
  • Bronze piston guide
  • Cone up to DN150: brass, DN200: steal
  • Spring steel adjustment spring
  • EPDM diaphragm
  • EPDM seal collar
  • EPDM sealing washers
  • Stainless steel screws and nuts

Observe the local requirements regarding correct waste recycling/disposal!
