PT30-U Electronic Logging Device
User Manual
Introduction
The Pacific Track PT30-U is an Electronic Logging Device (ELD) that can be
used to implement the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)
Hours Of Service (HOS) requirements.
The PT30-U includes 4 major functional blocks:
- A GPS receiver
- A vehicle interface
- Memory Storage
- A Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) transceiver
Interface
The PT30-U includes a single 10-pin interface. The PT30-U must be connected to the vehicle diagnostic port with the supplied cable. The diagnostic connector provides power (typically 12V) and connection into the vehicle CAN bus.
Bluetooth Low Energy
The Bluetooth Low Energy implements the Low Energy section of the Bluetooth
5.0 specification.
The transceiver operates between 2402 MHz and 2480 MHz at a power of -4 dBm.
The antenna is integrated on the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) of the PT30.
There are no serviceable or adjustable parts inside the product. Any
modification of the product will void the warranty.
Software
To comply with the HOS regulations, the PT30-U must be used with an FMCSA certified software application running on a smartphone or tablet. A standalone PT30-U alone is not a certified ELD solution. Please contact your HOS software provider for additional information.
FCC OEM labeling responsibilities
The Pacific Track PT30-U is certified by the FCC Rules and Regulations Part 15 subpart C. It is the responsibility of the OEM or software integrator to include the following labeling text at the end-user manual:

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules.
Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
- This device may not cause harmful interference and
- this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
- Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.
In order to maintain compliance with FCC regulations, the existing cables must be used with this equipment. Operation with non-approved equipment or cables is likely to result in interference to radio and TV reception. The user is cautioned that changes and modifications made to the equipment without the approval of the manufacturer could void the user’s authority to operate this equipment.
RF Exposure
This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set forth for an
uncontrolled environment.
IC OEM labeling responsibilities
The Pacific Track PT30-U is certified by ISED in Canada. It is the
responsibility of the OEM or integrator to include the following labeling text
at the end-user manual:

This device complies with CAN ICES-003 (B)/NMB-003(B).
This device contains license-exempt transmitter(s)/receiver(s) that comply
with
Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada’s license-exempt RSS(s).
Operation is subject to the following two conditions:
- This device may not cause interference.
- This device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device.
RF Exposure
This equipment complies with IC radiation exposure limits set forth for an
uncontrolled environment.
