LocoTags have been designed to make finding people or assets easy. They broadcast their presence to nearby LocoTrack devices and other sensor information if available.

Product Variants & Functionality

The LocoTag family of 5 variants are based on the root E4BL tag. The LocoTags are all built on the same hardware and have the same form factor. The differences between the variants are as follows:

E4BL Proximity, temperature, humidity and logging
P4P, P4B Proximity
E4P, E4B Proximity, temperature and humidity
Mode l P r otoco l
--- ---
E4BL BLE Discoverable
P4P Proprietary
P48 BLE Discoverable
E4P Proprietary
E48 BLE Discoverable

The variants with the ‘E’ prefix have a temperature and humidity sensor fitted that can be NIST calibrated.
The variants with the ‘P’ suffix broadcast less frequently and so have a longer battery life.
The dimensions are 57x32x11 mm
The datasheet is appended to the bottom of the article.

Product Label

The product label can be found printed on the LocoTag label – affixed to the front of the device. The label contains the following information:

  • Device ID - The device ID is unique to each device and is used to locate and monitor the device via the LocoAware website. The barcode is an encoded version of the Device ID that can be scanned.
  • FCC ID The FCC ID for the LocoTag
  • Model/Variant e.g. LocoTag E4BL
  • Regulatory Symbols and IDs, FCC, IC, CE, Giteki and do not dispose symbol.

The product label format is shown here (note that for certain territories a different label may be used)

Packaging Leaflet (placed inside every shipped box of LocoTags)

The label on the LocoTag only measures 60x22mm so we can not fit all certification and warning information onto the label. As such we place a packaging leaflet inside every box of LocoTags. A PDF of this leaflet is appended to the bottom of this article
