Safety and set-up

Please read this instruction manual thoroughly prior to using this appliance! Follow all safety instructions in order to avoid damages due to improper use! Keep the instruction manual for future reference. Should this appliance be given to a third party, then this instruction manual must also be handed over.

  • This appliance is intended for private domestic use only and is not suitable for professional-catering purposes. It should not be used for commercial use.
  • Do not immerse the motor housing, power cord, or power plug in water or any other liquids. Do not hold it under running water. Only whiskers and kneading spirals are dishwasher safe.
  • Unplug the appliance when left unattended, while installing/removing accessories or before cleaning and wait for it to stop completely before approaching parts that move in use.
  • Do not disconnect the plug by pulling on the cord.
  • Do not squeeze or bend the power cord and do not rub it on sharp edges in order to prevent any damage.
  • Keep the power cord away from hot surfaces and open flame.
  • Do not use an extension cord with the appliance.
  • Never use the appliance if the power cord or the appliance is damaged.
  • If the appliance or power cord is damaged, it must be repaired or replaced by an authorised service centre to avoid any dangers. Faulty or unqualified repair work may cause danger and risks to the user.
  • Do not dismantle the appliance under any circumstances. No warranty claims are accepted for damage caused by improper handling.
  • Do not leave the appliance unattended while it is in use. Extreme caution is advised when the appliance is being used near children and people with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities.
  • Before using the appliance for the first time, clean all parts which come into contact with food carefully. Please see details in the “Cleaning and Care” section.
  • Never operate or place any part of this appliance on or near hot surfaces such as a gas burner, hotplate or heated oven.
  • Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use.
  • Never use the appliance in or near to combustible or inflammable places and materials.
  • Operate the appliance only with the delivered parts
  • Do not use the appliance with damp or wet hands.
  • Do not use the device for hot food.
  • This appliance is not suitable for dry or hard foods.
  • Never place the appliance, attachments, power cord or plug on hot surfaces such as gas or electric burners or hot oven surfaces and never use it with hot liquids or food. Let hot food and liquids cool down to min. 80°C or less, before using the appliance.
  •  Always use the appliance on astable, flat, clean, dry, and nonslip surfaces.
  • To prevent overheating, do not use whisking continuously for more than 10 minutes. Leave to cool for 5 minutes in between each 10 minutes of operation.
  •  To prevent overheating, do not use mixing with spirals continuously for more than 2 minutes. Leave to cool for 1 minute in between each 2 minutes of operation.
  •  Follow all warnings to prevent injuries due to incorrect use.
  •  After cleaning, dry the appliance and all parts before connecting it to main supply and before attaching the parts.
  •  If you keep the packaging materials, store them out of the reach of children.
  •  Make sure that there is no danger that the power cord could be accidentally pulled or that someone could trip over it when the appliance is in use.
  • Position the appliance in sucha way that the plug is always accessible.
  • Never operate the appliance for longer than necessary for processing the food.
  •  This appliance is only intended for short periods of use and should only be in continuous use for a maximum 1 minutes. After use, let the appliance cool down sufficiently.
  •  Only use the original parts or parts recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Your mains power supply should comply with the information supplied on the rating plate of the appliance.
  •  Remove bones and pips from food to prevent the appliance from getting damaged.

Children’s safety

  •  Always keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • Do not leave the appliance unattended as long as it is in use. Extreme caution is advised when the appliance is being used near children and people with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities.
  • This appliance must not be used by children.

Operation

Intended use
This appliance is intended only for house-hold use; it is not suitable for professional use. Initial use Clean the appliance parts before initial use
Whisking / Blending

  •  Insert whisking and blending accessories in slots (2) under the mixer.
  •  Insert whisking accessory with a round ring (6a) and mixer spiral (7a) into the large slot and other whisking (6b) and mixer spiral (7b) into the small slot in the mixer.

WARNING:

  • Do not use whisker accessory together with mixer spirals. Start mixing in low speed while mixing ingredients. Ingredients may be spattered when you start with high speed. Plug in the appliance.
  • Hold the appliance above the container in which you previously prepared the ingredi-ents for whisking or mixing in an inclined po-sition, pointing the base of the container.

WARNING: Place the container to be used for processing on a stable and flat surface.

  •  Run the appliance moving the operation button gradually (4) to desired speed level.

WARNING: Speed levels range between 1-5. Increase speed by starting with level 1.

  •  When whisking/mixing is completed, move operation button (4) to “0” position and wait for it to stop completely.

WARNING: Set the speed adjustment button to “0” position when processing is over.

  • Unplug the appliance.
  • Press accessory release button (3) and remove accessories.

WARNING: When the operation button is in “0” position, you can press accessory release button to release whisker and mixer accessories.

Whiskers

  • Always use both whiskers.
  • Teflon-coated pots can be scratched.
  • Use for whisking liquid ingredients such as cakes, sauces, soup.

Mixer spirals
Always use both mixer spirals.  Teflon-coated pots can be scratched. Use to knead dough.
TURBO button
When you need extra high speed, press and hold the TURBO button and release when you do not need.

WARNING: Do not use TURBO feature for more than a 1 minute at a time Things to do for energy saving Switch off and unplug the appliance after us-ing it.

Information

Cleaning and care

WARNING : Never use petrol, solvents or abrasive cleaners, metal objects or hard brushes to clean the appliance.

DANGER! Always disconnect the plug from the wall socket before any maintenance or cleaning. Whiskers and kneading spirals are dishwasher safe.

  1. Unplug the appliance before cleaning.
  2. Make sure whisker and mixer spirals are at complete stop and remove accessories.
  3.  Wipe appliance motor unit (1) with a damp cloth.
  4.  Removed accessories can be washed using a sponge and dish-washing detergent.
  5. Dry all parts of the appliance after cleaning.

WARNING : Never immerse the motor unit or its power cable in water or in any other liquid. Dry all parts of the appliance after cleaning.  Before using or storing the appliance after cleaning, dry all parts carefully using a soft towel.

Storage
  • If you do not plan to use the appliance for a long period of time, please store it carefully.
  •  Make sure the appliance is unplugged and completely dry.
  • Store the appliance in a cool, dry place.
  • Make sure the appliance is kept out of reach of children.

Ensure that packing material is disposed of in a responsible manner and that any plastic bags are cut up to prevent children playing with them and accidentally suffocating.

Environmental note
This appliance has been made from high quality materials and parts which can be reused and are suitable for recycling. Do not dispose of the appliance with normal household waste at the end of its service life. Consult your local authorities for disposal information and facilities available. Help protect the environment by recycling used appliances.

Warranty

This certificate is issued by DEFY APPLIANCES (PTY) LIMITED manufacturers of Defy and Ocean products, hereinafter the Company, to the original purchaser only, of the appliance described on the certificate and shall constitute the only warranty given in respect of this appliance.
The Company warrants to the original purchaser that for a period of ONE YEAR from date of purchase the appliance is free from defect under normal domestic use, both in workmanship and material, subject to the following conditions.

  1.  Carry-in service. Small appliances are repaired in our service centres and are not collected from the customer’s home. Faulty units must be delivered to the purchasing dealer or to the nearest Company Service Centre for warranty repairs.
  2.  Vitreous enamelware, fuses and lamps are specifically excluded from these warranties. It is an express condition of these warranties that the purchaser takes due care and attention in the use and maintenance of the appliance. Abuse, misuse in conflict with operating instructions, connection to incorrect voltages and subjection to commercial use shall release the Company from its obligations.
  3.  This warranty shall become void and cease to operate if the appliance is dismantled by, or any repairs to the appliance are effected by any persons not duly authorized by the Company, or if substitute parts not approved by the Company are used in the appliance, or if the serial number of the appliance is removed.
  4.  The Company shall not be responsible for damages resulting from fire, flood, civil disturbances or any Act of God. The Company shall not, in terms of these warranties be responsible nor held liable for any consequential loss or damage of any kind caused by or due to the failure or malfunction of the appliance. The Company shall not be responsible for damages caused by insect and/or animal infestation.
  5.  The Company shall not be responsible for transportation or other costs other than those incurred within the provisions of Point 1 of this Certificate.
  6.  For warranties in the Republic of South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, please contact your nearest Defy office. Please refer to the previous page for respective South African branches and Sub-Saharan Africa branches.
  7.  Where service is requested under warranty and no fault or defect can be found by the Company, all costs incurred will be for the purchaser’s account.
  8.  This Certificate as well as your invoice will serve as proof of purchase. For the purpose of warranty, it will be essential to produce this Certificate and invoice. Failure to do so, will render the purchaser liable for service costs.

KEEP THIS CERTIFICATE AND SALES INVOICE AS PROOF OF PURCHASE FOR WARRANTY PURPOSES.
