General information:
We recommend carefully reading the user instructions before using the product
for the first time and storing the instructions with the packaging in case you
need them at a later point in time.
Functions
-
I am mobile.
Thanks to the joints in her arms, legs and the head, the doll is fully articulated. She can stand on her own or sit comfortably. (Fig. 1&2)
The mobile joints are (fig. 3):
– Head (1)
– 2x shoulder (2)
– 2x legs (3)
– 2x knees (4) -
I can drink.
Fill the bottle that comes with the doll with fresh tap water and screw the drinking attachment firmly onto the bottle.
Hold the doll across your arm at an angle so that the bottle tip is facing down and can be pushed straight into the doll’s mouth. Fully insert the tip of the bottle.
The water can now be fed to the doll by gently and repeatedly squeezing the bottle – but no more than one-third of the content.
The water tank is full when water flows from the doll’s mouth.
Warning: Use fresh water only. Other liquids can block the tubes and tanks inside the doll. -
I can cry.
The doll can cry real tears. But first, she needs to be fed with water. Then grasp the doll with both hands under her arms and press the middle of her chest several times using your fingers or thumbs.
The tears start to flow.
If the desired effect does not materialise, please feed the doll with clear water again and then press the middle of her chest. -
I can take a bath.
If the doll is bathed at home, please only use the BABY born bathtubs or bathe the doll in a suitable container. When bathing, use cold or tepid water and choose commercially available bath additives suitable for children. If the doll is taken to a swimming pool or the beach, please do not play with the doll in the chlorine water or salt water for longer than 1 hour, as chemical reactions or bleaching of the doll may occur.
The 1-hour limit also applies to the bathwater in the BABY born bathtub or the container suitable for dolls. The doll should not be submerged completely under water.
1. It is essential that you rinse and clean the doll with clear water after bathing.
If water has entered the doll, please remove the water before playing with and using the functions of BABY born. Observe the information on cleaning and drying.
2. When playing with the doll in the BABY born bathtub or other suitable container, water can enter the tubes and tanks. It is therefore vital to clean the tube system inside the doll immediately after bathing. Please read the information on cleaning for further details.
3. Important! Avoid bathing the doll together with your child in the bath. Incomplete cleaning and/or drying after a previous bath could result in unhealthy germs and bacteria forming inside the doll.
4. The doll is not suitable for use as a floatation device.
5. Do not use cosmetic or skin care products on the doll.
6. Do not leave the doll in direct sunlight for extended periods of time (max. 1 hour).
7. Do not subject the doll to high temperatures (45°C or higher) for extended periods of time.
Information on cleaning and drying:
To be done by an adult.
Cleaning the doll
In case of external soiling, the doll can be cleaned with a damp cloth and
commercially available detergents.
To rinse the tubes and tanks inside the doll, feed with warm (38°C) water
(refer to “I can drink.”). Then press the chest several times so that the
water is pushed into the eyes (refer to “I can cry.”). Repeat this process
several times until the water stops flowing and the tank and tubes are empty.
Wipe the mouth, face and eyes with a dry cloth and leave to air dry.
In the event that juice or other liquids were accidentally fed, the cleaning procedure can also include a bit of detergent or a splash of vinegar. Then clean and rinse once again with plenty of fresh water until the tears no longer contain any detergent or vinegar.
Drying the doll
To remove any water from the doll’s arms, spread the arms so that the holes in
the armpits are visible. Rotate the doll back and forth until there is no
water left.
Now stand the doll upright. If there is any water in the body, it will flow
out of the holes at the bottom of the body. If there is any water in the legs,
it will flow out of the two holes in the backs of the knees (not always
visible).
You can check whether there is still water in the doll’s arms, legs or body by
shaking it briefly. Therefore, repeat the process described above several
times in order to empty the doll completely.
To dry the doll, please pat the doll and especially all the joints dry
carefully using a towel.
Lastly, leave the still unclothed doll to air in a dry, warm and well-
ventilated place for an extended period of time. Check the drying process from
time to time and extend the drying phase as necessary to prevent mould stains
from forming inside the doll.
Please note that water droplets may still come out of the doll’s joints, the backs of the knees or other openings. Wipe off any leaking water with a dry cloth and continue to ventilate the doll.
Washing the hair
The doll has soft, high-quality hair that can be washed in lukewarm water (up to 37°C). Rinsing with standard fabric conditioner makes the hair easier to comb and prevents it from falling out.
WARNING:
The doll’s hair is made from nylon fibres and must therefore never come into
contact with heat, such as hot water, hot air from a hair dryer, or curling
tongs. Please do not dye or colour the doll’s hair. Do not use hair lacquer,
hair spray, mousse or gel.
To wash the hair, stand the doll up and shower from above (do not wash upside down!). Do not massage the hair, as this dissolves the interlocking in the parting and the hair will no longer be evenly spread across the head. Please also note this when drying the hair. The best way to remove the water is to gently brush the hair from top to bottom and then leave to air dry. Refer to “Drying the hair”.
Tip:
Divide the hair into strands and, starting at the bottom, gradually brush
through until you reach the roots.
This prevents knotting and matting.
Drying the hair
Please make sure that the doll’s hair is fully dried after bathing. The best way to dry the hair is to pat or wrap it with a towel, before carefully wringing out. Never rub the hair, as this can cause it to become matted. Using a hairdryer (cold setting only) can accelerate drying. Blow-drying with warm air can permanently damage the structure of the doll’s hair. Lastly, leave the doll to air in a dry, well-ventilated and warm place for an extended period of time. Check the drying process from time to time and extend the drying phase as necessary.
