Before you start

General laser safety warnings

IMPORTANT:

  • Please read this instruction manual carefully before using the product, and familiarise yourself with the operation, adjustments, and functions of the various switches.
  • Consider and follow the safety and operating instructions in order to avoid possible risks and hazards.
  • Keep these instructions for future use. If the product is passed on to a third party then these instructions must be included.

WARNING! The danger of permanent eye injury!

  • Laser radiation! Do not stare into the beam.
  • Class II laser product.

WARNING!

  • DO NOT operate the tool around children or pets, this product is not a toy and is not intended for use by children.
  • DO NOT remove or destroy any label appearing on this instrument.
  • DO NOT stare directly at the laser beam, as this can cause blindness. Only turn the laser ON when being used.
  • DO NOT place the tool in a position that may cause anyone to stare at the laser beam, whether intentionally or unintentionally, and ensure bystanders are aware of the dangers.
  • DO NOT point the laser beam emitted by the instrument at people or animals.
  • DO NOT point the laser onto shiny or reflective surfaces such as glass or polished metals, as this could reflect the beam back at the operator or passers-by.
  • DO NOT attempt to modify the performance of this laser device in any way. This may result in dangerous exposure to laser radiation.

WARNING!

  • DO NOT attempt to repair or disassemble the laser-measuring tool. If unqualified persons attempt to repair this product, serious injury may occur. Any repair required on this laser product should be performed only by qualified service personnel.
  • DO NOT operate the tool in explosive environments. such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Sparks can be created in the tool which may ignite the dust or fumes.
  • ALWAYS turn off the instrument whenever it is not in use. Failure to do so will increase the possibility of someone inadvertently looking directly at the laser beam.
  • DO NOT use optical instruments with this product, as this will increase the risk of injury to the eyes.
  • DO NOT use laser viewing glasses as safety goggles. as they do not protect the eyes against laser radiation.
  • DO NOT use parts or accessories that have been designed for use with other laser tools, as this could result in serious injury or loss of performance.
  • The accuracy or performance of the instrument may be reduced if it is used beyond its designed range, or in strong lighting conditions.
  • DO NOT expose the product to shock, continuous vibration or extremely hot or cold temperatures, as this could damage the tool and/or cause serious injury to the user.
  • ALWAYS handle the laser product with care. Treat it as you would any other optical device such as a camera or binoculars, and DO NOT touch the lens directly.

To install batteries

  • This instrument requires 4 x 1.5V AA batteries (not included).
  • Remove the battery compartment cover.
  • Insert the batteries paying attention to the polarity (+/-) marked on the compartment and batteries.
  • Close the battery compartment cover.

CAUTION!

  • ALWAYS turn off the instrument before replacing the batteries.
  • ALWAYS remove the batteries if the instrument is not to be used for extended periods.
  • ALWAYS use high-quality batteries of the same brand, type, and age.
  • If the instrument does not work properly, or the low battery icon is displayed, replace the batteries immediately.
  • DO NOT expose the batteries or instrument to extreme temperatures or direct heat sources, as this can cause the batteries to leak.
  • If the batteries should leak, remove them using a cloth and dispose of them according to local regulations. Clean any leaked battery acid avoiding any contact with skin, eyes & mouth.
  • If any contact does occur, rinse affected areas immediately with fresh water and seek medical advice.

Functions and settings

Operation instructions

Your self-leveling cross-line laser level has two working modes.
Self-leveling mode
In this mode, the tool will level itself if it is within ±4′ of horizontal.

  1. Slide the lock switch to the unlock position and place the self-leveling cross-line laser level on a flat, smooth surface that is within ±4″ of horizontal.
  2. Turn the tool on by pressing the mode button. The self-leveling cross-line laser level will automatically level within 5 seconds.
  3. Press the mode button until the desired laser-projection mode is achieved and the laser line is projected from the laser aperture.
  4. If the laser level is greater than ±chorizontal. the laser line will blink.
  5. To turn the laser off, press and hold the mode button until the laser shuts off.

Lock mode

This mode cannot be used to perform horizontal or vertical leveling. because the laser lines are no longer self-balancing. In this mode, the laser line will blink once every 3 seconds even if it is within ±4″ horizontal.

  1. Slide the lock switch to the lock position.
  2. Press the mode button until the desired laser-projection mode is achieved and the laser line is projected from the laser aperture.
  3. To turn the laser off, press and hold the mode button until the laser shuts off.

Working advice

A tripod or a clamp offers stable, height-adjustable measuring support and can be connected by the ¼”-20 male thread of the tripod and screw the locking screw of the tripod tight. (Tripod and clamp are not included).

Cleaning

To ensure the instrument operates at the optimal performance it should be regularly cleaned.

  • ALWAYS switch the instrument OFF before cleaning.
  • The housing can be cleaned with a damp cloth, taking care that no water enters the product.
  • DO NOT immerse the electrical/optical parts of the product in water or other liquids, and never hold it under running water.
  • Any lenses can be cleaned using a cotton bud with a small amount of distilled water or alcohol.
  • After cleaning, ensure that all parts dry properly before use.
  • The product should be stored carefully so that it is protected from dust and scratches.

Under unfavorable conditions, such as in extreme interior illumination, transparent surfaces (eg. glass, water), porous surfaces (eg. insulation materials) or reflecting surfaces (eg. polished metal, glass) or very rough surfaces (eg. roughcast. natural stone), the tool’s measuring range and accuracy will be reduced.

The guarantee covers product failures and malfunctions provided the Rotary laser level was used for the purpose for which it is intended and subject to installation, cleaning, care, and maintenance in accordance with standard practice and with the information contained above and in the user manual. This guarantee does not cover defects and damage caused by normal wear and tear of the Rotary laser level and damage that could be the result of improper use, faulty installation or assembly, neglect, accident modification of the product. The guarantee is limited to parts recognized as defective. It does not, in any case, cover ancillary costs (movement, labour) and direct and indirect damage. If the Rotary laser level is defective during the guarantee period, then we reserve the right, at our discretion, to replace the defective Rotary laser level with a product of equivalent quality and functionality or to provide a refund. This guarantee only applies to the country of purchase or delivery and is not transferrable to any other country. This guarantee is non-transferable to any other person or product. Relevant local law will apply to this guarantee. This guarantee is in addition to and does not affect your statutory rights relating to faulty goods as a consumer. Guarantee-related queries should be addressed to a store affiliated with the distributor you purchased the Rotary laser level from.
