Treat your tablet with care
It’s important that you do not twist, drop, puncture, or place heavy objects on your tablet as this may cause internal or external components to become damaged. Your tablet screen is made of glass. The glass might break if the tablet is dropped on a hard surface. If the glass breaks in any way do not touch the broken glass. Stop using the tablet immediately.
Clean frequently. Wipe the touchscreen with a soft, lint-free cloth to clean it. Keep it covered. Close the keyboard when you’re in transit or not using the tablet. Keep it out of the sun. Don’t leave the tablet or keyboard in direct sunlight for an extended amount of time. Ultraviolet light and the excessive heat can damage the touchscreen.
Do not disassemble or modify your tablet
Your tablet is a sealed unit and there are no customer serviceable parts inside. All internal repairs must be done by a qualified repair technician. Attempting to open or modify your tablet will void the warranty. Replacement of the internal rechargeable battery must be done by a qualified repair technician.
Prevent your tablet and charger from getting wet:
Do not immerse your tablet in water or leave it in a location where it can get damp with water. This includes areas such as a bathroom where steam may build up from showering/bathing.
Charging and using your tablet:
Lithium-ion batteries are sensitive to high temperatures, so keep your tablet out of the sun and don’t leave it in a hot car.
The tablet might become warm during normal use and while charging. Ensure that you have adequate ventilation around the tablet. Avoid touching a hot section of the tablet for an extended time, even through clothing, as this could cause discomfort or even skin burn.
Do not charge the tablet if the charging wall adapter, micro USB cable, or tablet has been exposed to liquid or excessive moisture or if the charging wall adapter, micro USB cable shows signs of physical damage.
The battery doesn’t need to be empty or low before you recharge. You can recharge the battery whenever you’d like. However, it’s best to let the battery run down to 10% at least once per month before you recharge it. To charge use the supplied USB wall adapter with a micro USB cable and insert it into the micro USB slot on the tablet (shown as feature 15 on the following page)
Prevent hearing damage:
Excessive sound pressure from headphones can cause hearing loss. Always keep the volume to an appropriate level.
Keep your tablet away from small children:
By default, this tablet is a fully operational unlocked device that does not begin with parental control enabled. These settings can be applied to your tablet under Settings/Accounts/Family & other users. Additionally, your tablet contains small parts that can be a choking hazard to small children.
Protect your data and software:
By accessing any network or the internet you leave your tablet vulnerable to computer viruses and malicious activities that might damage your tablet, software, or data.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have adequate protection in the form of firewalls, antivirus software, and anti-spyware software and to keep this software up to date.

How to use your new Tablet

  1. Start Screen
On the start screen, you can see many programs (hereafter referred to as Apps). These apps are located in their positions on the screen like a “magnet”. Holding your finger down onto a tile for 1 second you are able to move the selected tile around the screen and position it where you like. To activate an app simply touch the tile briefly and the program will start. If you start up the tablet and the tiles are not shown please see section 2b below on how to activate the tablet mode.
Important: You will need to log on to your Microsoft account before some application programs fully operate (such as Cortana).

  2. Apps
    a. View all open apps – Slide to the right
From the edge of your tablet slide your finger to the right from the left to view all current open applications. You can then quickly select which open application you wish to use.
    b. View system and tablet settings- Slide to the left
From the edge of your tablet slide to the left from the right side. This will open the menu showing you the system action center and tablet settings. Here you can choose to toggle tablet mode on/off. You can also select airplane mode, toggle on/off Bluetooth, set the screen brightness, toggle on/off battery saver mode, and much more.

  3. Adding additional tiles to the Start screen

Besides the apps already fixed on the start screen, you can also fix other apps to the Start screen. In this example, we are using the property icon (1) which shows us the most-used apps. You can also select the main app property icon to access all apps. The all apps icon is located below the power on/off the logo in the lower left-hand corner of your screen.
Example: (1) Click the properties icon (2) press and hold the app icon for about one second and then let go (3) Click Pin to start
Deleting a tile on the start screen

If you want to cancel or delete a certain app in the start screen, press and hold the app tile for one second and then let it go and select the unpin option.
Adjusting a tile on the start screen

Press and hold the app tile for one second and then let it go and select the property icon. This will show a menu allowing you to make the tile smaller or larger and on some apps, it will allow you to turn off the live tile feature.
Power functions

To access the power options tap or click the start menu and select power, you can then choose from the following options:
Sleep: This will put the tablet into sleep mode. (To wake up from sleep mode click the power button on the tablet and then swipe up from the bottom edge of the tablet to login.) Shut down: This will turn the tablet off
Restart: This will turn the tablet off and then turn it back on

Troubleshooting (Help section)

My tablet will not startup

  1. Check to see whether the battery is flat. Plug in the charging adapter to the tablet and into the wall socket and turn on the wall to see if the charging indicator lights up on the tablet (it may take a few seconds if the battery is very flat). If the indicator light is on but the device still does not start up leave the device to charge for 1 hour before trying to turn it on again.
  2. Check to see if the device is in sleep mode, press the power button once which will wake up the device if it is in sleep mode. Do not hold the button down for this check as this may turn the device off.
  3. A reset of the device may be required. Using a fine pointed tool such as a needle, poke this into the reset hole and you will feel the needle click down onto an internal reset button. Hold for 4-5 seconds and then remove the needle. The device will reset.

My tablet does not appear to be charging

  1.  Please ensure you are using the charging adapter supplied with this device. Using another charger may cause the tablet to not charge as the input power between adapters vary. Using another adapter can lead to the tablet not charging and possibly burning out the tablet – only use the charger provided for charging.
  2.  If the tablet is in sleep mode all detection systems will be asleep so the device will appear to not be working. Press the power button once to wake up the system and the screen will activate and show the charging status.

The keyboard is not working or is not recognised by the tablet

  1. The keyboard must be pushed into the tablet securely, the pins on the keyboard must be flush and secure into the pins of the tablet for a correct connection. Ensure that the keyboard has been correctly inserted into the tablet with the metal pegs and connection pins perfectly aligned. Ensure that the pegs are not misaligned or slightly off-center – this is the most common issue for a keyboard connection issue.
  2. Occasionally the keyboard connection pins can become dirty which will cause the keyboard to not be recognised by the tablet. This can cause the keyboard to not work fully or only partially work. Inspect the connection pins on the keyboard and tablet and if there is any dust or dirt gently clean with a soft cloth. Do not use any liquid.

I cannot connect to my WIFI router or the WIFI connection is poor

  1. Check the current environment you are operating in, buildings with concrete floors or steel walls will be very difficult or even impossible for a WIFI signal to penetrate through.
  2. Check the position of your router – Ideally, your WIFI router is installed in a central part of the home and up high. A WIFI signal distributes like an open umbrella; picture the top of the umbrella as your WIFI router with the signal falling like the shape of an open umbrella canopy. A router in the center of a home and high up will cover a larger portion of the home than a router that is on the ground floor tucked into the corner of a room.
  3. Check the password of the router is correct – ensure that the CAPS lock is not on when entering your password
  4.  If the WIFI signal on the tablet screen (bottom right) indicates you are connected but with limited internet access, restart your tablet to attempt to fix this. If this does not work also restart your router to attempt to fix this.

The tablet crashes or does not operate correctly

  1. If the tablet crashes during operation please press the reset button to restart or press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to turn off the computer. You may need to attempt both options to get a good result depending on the nature of the system crash. After a system crash, it is recommenced to recommence operation in staged progress, open up the required applications one by one, and do not attempt to open all applications at the same time.
  2. The system may have reached its maximum temperature limit and this will cause a crash, the tablet will apply for automatic protection and will shut itself down if it becomes too hot. Always ensure that the tablet is operated with clear ventilation around the device and always stop using if the tablet becomes too hot.
  3. The tablet may crash when installing two different and conflicting applications. Download applications one at a time to determine which application is causing the issue and then remove the application causing the crash.

The tablet screen has stopped rotating

  1. Ensure the tablet is put into tablet mode. See section 2b in “How to Use your tablet” to see how to do this. Click the Windows START menu logo (bottom left) and select settings. Click System. Click Display. Scroll down and toggle the lock rotation of this display to OFF.
  2. Some applications lock the rotation of the screen until they are closed, for example, the Groove Music App. Try and close all applications to fix the rotation lock. Click on the below icon (as shown in the red box) located on the bottom menu bar which will display all open applications. Close each application by clicking on the x symbol on the top right of each application.
