Johnson Treadmill Consoles Lube Belt Master Resetting
The inability to clear the “Lube Belt” message on the console may be due to one of the following reasons:
User error
- When attempting to reset the Lube Belt message, press and hold Speed + first, then STOP, and hold both buttons for 5-7 seconds. If the issue persists, complete a Master Reset.
- Exception: For the 7.8AT, press and hold the red stop button and the play/pause media button at the same time for a few seconds.
Faulty keypad or poor connection
- Check keypad ribbon cable connection.
- Run a keypad test.
Faulty upper control board
Complete a Master Reset.
Performing a Master Reset
This should only be done if the customer is unable to remove the “Lube Belt”
message. All workouts, programs, time, and distance will be erased if you
perform a Master Reset.
You may perform a Master Reset at any time; you do not need to wait until the
“Lube Belt” message displays.

Keep the safety key in place and hold Incline + and Speed – to enter the engineering menu. Exception: For the Horizon 7.8AT treadmill, press and hold the highest incline and speed keys on the console keypad to enter the engineering menu.

Toggle into ENG3 (switch function) and press ENTER.

Hold Incline + and Speed – until ENG8 (test) appears.
Exception: For the 7.8AT, press and hold the highest incline and speed keys on the console keypad to enter ENG8. -
Follow the instructions for your console:
- For 2007–2012 consoles, press ENTER until P3 (clear) appears on the screen.
- For 2014–present consoles, press ENTER until P2 (clear) appears on the screen.
- For the 7.8AT console, press ENTER to change “Normal” to “No Clear”. Press START for a couple seconds to change “No Clear” to “Clear”. Press ENTER to change “Clear” to “Press Start to ERP”.

Hold START for about 5 seconds. This will start the Master Reset and all data will be cleared. If you have reset the console correctly, the console will beep twice. The screen will black out after 10 seconds.

Exit by holding STOP, or by removing the safety key. The screen will light up and be ready to go.
