DAIKIN BRP15A61 SKYFi Remote Control Interface

IMPORTANT

  1.  The BRP15A61 SKYFi Remote Control Interface is only suitable for connection to Daikin Ducted, Sky Air and VRV indoor units that have P1-P2 terminals for a wired remote controller.
  2.  The BRP15A61 operates as a “Slave Controller” in parallel with a Daikin Wall Controller or Zone Controller set to “Master”. It is not possible to connect more than two controllers (ie one master and one slave to an indoor unit). Therefore, if the installation already has 2 controllers (eg upstairs and downstairs) connection of the BRP15A61 Wi-Fi Remote Control Interface is not possible.
  3.  Functionality of the BRP15A61 SKYFi Remote Control Interface requires either an Apple iOS device (ie iPhone, iPad or iPod) or an Andoid device with the Daikin Wi-Fi Remote Control App installed and configured. The App is available free of charge from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
  4. To provide secure control of the air conditioner, a fixed password associated with the ID number of the interface will be requested by the App during the commissioning process and any time a new device is connected for the first time. The password and interface ID number are printed on the nameplate of the interface. For convenience, please record the ID number and password from the nameplate in the space below and in the operation manual.

INSTALLATION LOCATION

The BRP15A61 SKYFi Remote Control Interface is supplied with 1.5 metres of communications cable for connection to the P1-P2 terminals in the indoor unit electrical box. For optimum performance select a location for the interface on or near the indoor unit that is closest to the target Wi-Fi device (ie typically the home Wi-Fi Router or Access Point). For example, if you are connecting the Interface to a ducted indoor unit in the ceiling space, locate the interface underneath or to the side of the indoor unit so that the indoor unit is not in-between the interface and the router location. Also ensure that the interface is not exposed to any possible condensate or moisture. Since the BRP15A61 SKYFi Remote Control Interface effectively simulates a Slave Remote Control connected to the P1-P2 terminals, it is possible to extend the wiring between the P1-P2 terminals and the interface if required.

MOUNTING
The BRP15A61 SKYFi Remote Control Interface is supplied with 2 pieces of double sided tape attached to the back of the plastic housing.

  1. Select a suitable location for the housing as per “Installation Location” above.
  2.  Make sure the proposed surface is clean.
  3.  Remove the protective pieces from the double sided tape and firmly press the housing onto the selected surface.

WIRING

  1.  Turn off the power to the air conditioner before removing the indoor unit electrical box cover.
  2.  Connect the black and white wires from the interface to the P1 and P2 terminals in the electrical box. These wires will be in parallel with the 2 wire going to the wall controller or zone control box.
  3.  Secure the interface cable inside the electrical box using a cable tie.
  4.  Replace the indoor unit electrical box cover.

COMMISIONING (Establishing Wi-Fi Connection)

  1.  Download the BRP15A61 SKYFi Application from the Apple App Store or Google Play (depending on the type of device you have)
  2.  Turn on the power to the air conditioner.
  3.  Wait about 1 minute for the indoor unit to establish communications with the remote control and BRP15A61 SKYFi Remote Control Interface.
  4.  Go to the list of available Wi-Fi networks on your iOS or Android device.
  5.  Select the network called DaikinAC_xxxxxxxxx (Figure 1). The xxxxxxxxx represents the 9 digit ID number on the nameplate of the interface.
  6.  Start the App on your iOS or Android device.
  7.  The App will show some connection messages (Figure 2) and then request a PIN number. Please enter the 5 digit Password on the nameplate of the interface. (Figure 3).
  8. The interface is now connected in the “Standalone” mode and can be controlled by your device. For details on how to configure the interface to connect to a local Wi-Fi network please refer to the Operation Manual.
