BTY01 BATTERY TESTER TEST PROCEDURES/ OPERATINGIN5fRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT:

  1.  For testing 12 volts, 2AH~35AH batteries.
  2.  Suggested operation range 32″F(0°C) to 122°F(S0″C) in ambient temperature

WARNING:

  1.  Working in the vicinity of a lead-acid battery is dangerous. Batteries generate explosive gases during normal battery operation. Carefully read these instructions every time you use the tester, ii you have any concerns about how to use the tester
  2.  To reduce the risk of battery explosion, follow these instructions and those published by the battery manufacturer and manufacturer of any equipment you intend to use in ttle vicmrty of the battery. Observe cautionary markings on these items.
  3.  Do not expose the tester to rain or snow.

PERSONAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

  1.  Someone should be within range of your voice or close enough to come to your aid when you wori<. near a lead-acid battery.
  2.  Have plenty of fresh water and soap nearby in case battery acid contacts skin, clothing or eyes.
  3.  Wear safety glasses and protective clothing.
  4.  If battery acid contacts skin or clothing, wash immediately with soap and water If acid enters eye, immediately flood eye with running cold water for al least ten minutes and get medical attention immediately.
  5.  NEVER smoke or allow a spark or flame rn v1c1mty of battery or engine.
  6.  Be extra cautious to reduce risk of dropping a metal tool onto the battery. It could spark or short-circuit the battery or other electrical parts and could cause an explosion.
  7.  Remove personal metal items such as rings, bracelets, necklaces and watches when working with a lead ac,d battery It can produce a short circuit current high enough to weld a ring or the like to metal causing a severe burn.

PREPARING TOTE

  1.  Be sure area around battery 1s well ventilated while battery 1s is being tested.
  2.  Clean battery terminals. Be careful to keep corrosion from coming in contact with eyes.
  3.  Inspect the battery for a cracked or broken case or cover. II battery 1s damaged, do not use the tester.
  4.  If the battery is not a sealed maintenance-free (MF) type, add distilled water in each cell until battery acid reaches the level specified by the manufacturer. Th,s helps purge excessive gas from cells. Do not overfill
  5.  If necessary to remove the battery from the vehicle to test. always remove the ground terminal from the battery first. Make sure all accessories in the vehicle are off to ensure you do nol cause any arcing.

OPERATION &USE 

Battery Test

  1.  Before you test a battery in a vehicle, tum off the ignition, all accessories, and loads. Close all the vehicle doors and the trunk lid.
  2.  Make sure you have put a 9V battery into the tester’s battery chamber. tt the 9V battery runs out of power, the screen will show “INTERNAL BATTERY LOW”. Replace this 9V battery before starting the test.
  3.  Make sure the battery terminals are clean Wire brush them if necessary. Clamping the black load leads to the vehicle’s negative battery terminal. Clamp the red load leads to the vehicle’s positive battery terminal.
  4.  You will view the lollow1ng screens.
  5.  Press the & \ T key to select battery type VRLNMF1AGM/SLA or STANDARD SLI. Press «ENTER» to confirm the choice.
  6.  Press the A. IT key to input the battery capacity of AH
  7.  Press «ENTER• to beg,n the test.
  8. Test the battery for 5-7 seconds.
  9.  Press the A.\ T key to select battery charged: YES or NO. Press «ENTER• to confirm the choice.
  10.  When the test is complete, the LCD shows the actual O. C.V.. (Press the key to select· CHARGE STATE or BATTERY CONDITION).

One of six results will be displayed:

GOOD & PASS:
The battery is good & capable ol holding a charge.

GOOD & RECHARGE
The battery is go(){j but needs to be recharged.

RECHARGE & RETEST:
Battery 1s discharged, the battery condition cannot be determined until rt is fully charged the battery.

BAD & REPLACE
The battery will not hold a charge. It should be replaced immediately.

BAD CELL & REPLACE
The battery has at least one cell short circuit. It should be replaced immediately.

LQADERRQR:
The tested battery is 1s bigger than 35AH. Or the clamps are not connected properly.

The operator is asked if any accessories are left on as a possible cause. If accessories are left on, /the operator is instructed lo charge and retest the battery. II

accessories are no/ left on, the operator is instructed lo replace the battery since the charging system 1s working and a good battery should have accepted a charge.

  1.  Press «ENTER• return to step 4 or remove the test clamps from the battery posts after completion ot testing batteries to end the test.

ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

Yuasa Inc  (Yuasa} warrants exclusively to the original owner that th,s tester will be replaced or repaired, at Yuasa”s option, it fails during the first year after the date of purchase due to defects in materials or workmanship. A copy of the original rn11 of sale must be shipµed with a returned tester for the limited warranty to be honored. This warranty does not cover failures that arise, ng out of improper use. maintenance or operation of the product.
