Flash head operations

Fill-in reflector

If you use the fill-in reflector at a short distance during bounce shooting, the light will enter the eyes of the subject and the facial expression will become brighter.

  • When using the fill-in reflector, bounce upward 90°.
  • The fill-in reflector can be used with a softbox attached.
  • Recommend setting the zoom position to 24mm.

Softbox

Place the Softbox onto the flash head to soften the light output and reduce the shadows.

Light-diffusing panel

  • By pulling out the light diffusing panel and covering it in front of the flash head as shown in the figure, a shooting angle of view of 16mm can be supported.
  • When pulling out the light diffusing panel, the zoom setting position of MG60 is automatically set at the position of 24mm.

Magnetically contacted zoom head

  • By pulling out the magnetically contacted zoom head for a wide-angle flashing, heat dissipation, and fit into Nissin Light Shaping Kit.
  • A color gel (full CTO) with gel holder included can be set on the zoom head (buckle on screws)

Bounce lighting

When lighting a subject in front of the wall, an unnecessary sharp shadow may appear on the wall behind the subject resulting in a disappointing picture. Bounce the light off the ceiling or wall to soften the light on the subject, and the shadow will fade.

  • The flash head turns upward to 90°, 180° to the left, and 180° to the right.
  • Or mixing it upward/ sideways, you can set it in multiple directions
  • When the flash head stays at a turning or tilting position, the zoom setting position of MG60 is automatically set at the position for a 50mm focal length lens.
  • The wall or ceiling in this case should be a flat surface and white color is preferable. A colored ceiling or wall may reflect its color on the subject.
  • When bouncing, the light is attenuated. If the effect is not sufficiently obtained, adjust the exposure settings such as increasing the ISO sensitivity of the camera.
