IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL INSTRUCTIONS! Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in serious injury.

  1. The study, understand and follow all instructions before operating this device.
  2.  Do not exceed 5,000 Lb. rated capacity.
  3. Place Trail Jack on a flat, level surface. Only use this Trail Jack on a hard, stable, clean, dry surface that is capable of sustaining the weight of the Trail Jack and the load it is stabilizing.
  4. Lifting device only. Immediately after lifting, support the vehicle with appropriate means.
  5.  Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles and heavy-duty work gloves during use.
  6.  Keep clear of load while lifting and lowering.
  7.  Lower load slowly in a controlled fashion. Do not allow load to drop quickly.
  8.  Do not use for aircraft purposes.
  9. Inspect before every use; do not use if parts lose or damaged.
  10. Do not alter the Trail Jack or use attachments and/or adapters that are not supplied by the manufacturer. Any alterations or modifications to this tool may result in dangerous conditions.
  11. Be aware of dynamic loading! Sudden load movement may briefly create excess load causing product failure.
  12. Maintain labels and nameplates on the tool. These carry important safety information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for a replacement.
  13. This product is not a toy. Keep it out of reach of children.
  14.  The warnings cautions and instructions discussed in this instruction manual cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors that cannot be built into this product but must be supplied by the operator.
  15.  Do not operate tool if under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Read warning labels if taking prescription medicine to determine if your judgment or reflexes are impaired while taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not operate the tool.
  16.  Never stand on the Trail Jack and never have people or pets in vehicle you are attempting to lift.

Operating Instructions

Warning
Park vehicle on a flat, level, solid, surface safely away from oncoming traffic. Turn off the vehicle’s engine. Place the vehicle’s transmission in “PARK” (if automatic) or in its lowest gear (if manual). Set the vehicle’s emergency brake. Then, chock the wheels that are not being lifted.

Lifting
WARNING:
Place Trail Jack on a flat, level surface. Only use this Trail Jack on a hard, stable, clean, dry surface that is capable of sustaining the weight of the Trail Jack and the load it is stabilizing.

  1. Place Base of Trail Jack beneath a load.
  2.  Set Reversing Latch (16) to UP position.
  3. Ensure Reversing Latch is locked in place with indentation firmly engaged in the notch on the Reversing Switch (
  4.  Jack up nose of Large Runner ) until it contacts the appropriate vehicle lifting point.
  5.  Remove any obstacle that will prevent lifting . Note: Do not use the extension on Handle  Note: Ensure Trail Jack will not slip after the load is applied.
  6.  Raise vehicle.
    •  Pull Handle down to the bottom of its stroke.
    •  Raise Handle up to the top of its stroke.
    • Repeat steps a. and b. until the desired height is reached.
  7. Once the vehicle is raised, slide a jack stand of appropriate capacity (not included) under a proper lifting point referred to in-vehicle owner’s manual. Always use two jack stands. Position them at the same point on each side of the vehicl e. warning  rated capacity of jack stands is per pair, not the individual capacities combined unless specifically noted on the product by the jack stand manufacturer. Do not exceed rated jack stand capacity. Ensure that the vehicle support points are fully seated in the saddle of both jack stands. Use a matched pair of jack stands per vehicle to support one end only. Failure to do so may result in the load suddenly falling, which may cause personal serious injury and/or property damage.
  8.  Center the vehicle’s lifting points on the saddle of the jack stands. Set the jack stands to the same height according to the manufacturer’s instructions, making sure that they lock securely into position.
  9. Ensure Handle is in full upright position.
  10. Set Reversing Latch to DOWN position.
  11. Lower vehicle.
    •  Pull Handle down to the bottom of its stroke.
    •  Raise Handle up to the top of its stroke.
    • Repeat steps a. and b. to lower the vehicle onto the saddles of the jack stands.
  12.  Ensure Handle is in full upright position.
  13. Remove Trail Jack.

WARNING:
Place Trail Jack on a flat, level surface. Only use this Trail Jack on a hard, stable, clean, dry surface that is capable of sustaining the weight of the Trail Jack and the load it is stabilizing.

  1. Place Base of Trail Jack beneath load.
  2. Set Reversing Latch (16) to UP position.
  3.  Ensure Reversing Latch is locked in place with indentation firmly engaged in the notch on the Reversing Switch
  4.  Jack up the nose of the Large Runner until it contacts the appropriate vehicle lifting point.
  5.  Remove any obstacle that will prevent lifting.
  6.  Carefully remove all tools, parts, etc. from under the vehicle. Note:  Do not use the extension on Handle Note: Ensure Trail Jack will not slip after the load is applied.
  7. Raise vehicle.
    •  Pull Handle down to the bottom of its stroke.
    •  Raise Handle up to the top of its stroke.
    • Repeat steps a. and b. to raise load high enough to clear the jack stands.
  8. Remove jack stands completely away from the vehicle.
  9.  Ensure Handle is in full upright position.
  10. Set Reversing Latch to DOWN position.
  11.  Lower vehicle.
    • Pull Handle down to the bottom of its stroke.
    •  Raise Handle up to the top of its stroke.
    • Repeat steps a. and b. to lower the vehicle safely onto the ground.
  12. Ensure Handle is in full upright position.
  13. Remove Trail Jack.

Maintenance

Procedures not specifically explained in this manual must be performed only by a qualified technician.

Warning
TO PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY FROM TOOL FAILURE: Do not use damaged equipment. If abnormal noise or vibration occurs, have the problem corrected before further use.

  1. Periodically clean Trail Jack of any dirt, grease, or debris.
  2. Before each use, inspect the general condition of the Trail Jack. Check for broken, cracked, or bent parts, loose or missing parts, and any condition that may affect the proper operation of the product. Do not use damaged equipment. Discard Trail Jack if damaged or deformed.

Harbor Freight Tools Co. makes every effort to assure that its products meet high quality and durability standards, and warrants to the original purchaser that this product is free from defects in materials and workmanship for the period of 90 days from the date of purchase. This warranty does not apply to damage due directly or indirectly, to misuse, abuse, negligence or accidents, repairs or alterations outside our facilities, criminal activity, improper installation, normal wear and tear, or to lack of maintenance. We shall in no event be liable for death, injuries to persons or property, or for incidental, contingent, special or consequential damages arising from the use of our product. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation of exclusion may not apply to you.

We will return repaired products at our expense, but if we determine there is no defect, or that the defect resulted from causes not within the scope of our warranty, then you must bear the cost of returning the product.
