How to set up Plume – Account and Wi-Fi network already created.
Setting up Plume is easy, just follow the prompts. The exact steps provided here are if the Account, SuperPods and Wi-Fi network (SSID) have already been set up.
Account and WiFi network already created with GTA
- Download and launch the HomePass app.
- Log into the app using the email and password used for your account.
- Because everything was set up ahead of time, once logged into the app you will go immediately to the screen that shows that the SuperPods are waiting to connect the network.
- Follow the prompts and use the Ethernet cable to plug a SuperPod into your modem/router/ONT.
- Plug the pod into power.
- The LED should turn solid briefly and then start slowly pulsing as it is trying to connect to the Plume cloud. If there is no LED, check for power at the outlet. If you see rapid flashing, there may be something wrong with the pod and it should be returned (or require GTA assistance/troubleshooting).
- If you are using a modem, you should unplug the power from the modem for at least 30 seconds and then plug it back in. This ensures that an IP is properly assigned to the SuperPod.
- Once the pod has connected to the cloud the app will show a green checkmark for the pod and the LED will stop pulsing and turn off.
- Connect the rest of the pods throughout the home and watch their LEDs and the app to see if they connect. Connected pods will have a green checkmark, while the pods in silhouette have not yet been connected to the cloud. Once all pods have connected, tap
- Choose if you want to enable notifications.
- If the pods have outdated firmware they will be updated. This will cause the pods to reboot before continuing the setup.
- Follow the prompt to join the new network. (optional) Tapping join will connect your mobile to your new Plume network.
- You are prompted to locate and name the pods. (Optional) Bring your phone close to each pod and when prompted choose a
- You may be prompted that a firmware update is required. This may take a few minutes.
- You will be prompted that optimization will be taking place. Depending on how many pods you have, this may take two to three minutes.
- Your new network is now setup. Turn off your old Wi-Fi and if the same SSID and password were used for the new network, your devices will connect to the new Plume network.
How to turn off/on the Wi-Fi on your GTA Comtrend Modem
- On the front left side of the GTA Comtrend modem, you will see the two WiFi On/Off buttons (2.4G WiFi and 5G WiFi).

How to setup my Plume – Account and WiFi network not yet created.
Setting up Plume is easy, just follow the prompts. The exact steps provided here are if nothing has been setup ahead of time by GTA. (Customer must create Plume account, add pods and setup Wi-Fi).
-
Download the HomePass app.
-
Launch the app and choose the Set Up Plume option.
-
The app will prompt you to enter your name and email. This will be for your new Plume account.
-
Choose your Plume account password, which must be at least 8 characters long.
-
An email will be sent to you. Click on the Verify Email link within that email to continue the setup process
You will be presented with the overall steps to get your first pod connected. This will become the Gateway pod of your Plume network. The info buttons will bring up additional details for each step.
Connect a pod by Ethernet to your modem. If you have an existing router, ONT for Fiber or other type of network configuration, use the Advanced setup link to get more information on how to connect the pod to the network.
Plug the pod into power. Restart your modem. The modem should be left unplugged from power for a minimum of 30 seconds until the next step. -
Once you have completed the steps to connect you Gateway pod, tap on Next to move on to setting up your SSID.
-
The LED will continue to slowly pulse until the pod connects to the Plume cloud. Once connected, the LED will turn off and the app will prompt you to input your new Wi-Fi name (SSID) and Password.
- To simplify setup, you can use your previous Network Name (SSID) and password. This will allow all your client devices to easily switch to the Plume network once the old Wi-Fi has been turned off, without needing to update the credentials on every single Wi-Fi client.
-
Alternatively, this could be an opportunity to setup a completely new Wi-Fi network name and/or password. This would help ensure that the new Wi-Fi network starts off as secure as possible.
- If you have more than one pod, start plugging them in now. Stay close to each pod until it is found. As each one connects to the network and cloud, a green check mark will appear and the LED will turn off. Tap on Completed once all pods have been added.
-
Be sure to Enable notifications. This will help you be aware of your home network activity.
-
The HomePass app will prompt you to join the new Wi-Fi network with your mobile.
-
Tapping on Join will take you out of the app and into the Wi-Fi settings so you can join.
-
Once back in the app, a Welcome Aboard message indicates that the device is now connected and the new Wi-Fi network is operational.
-
Finally, after you have joined the network, you’ll be taken to the home screen.
-
As an optional step, pods can be named for easier identification later.
- Tapping Snooze will skip this step.
- To name the pods, bring the device close to each pod that is to be named. Bluetooth is used to identify the closest pod.
- Choose from the list of default names or enter a custom name for each pod.
-
Over the next 24 hours, your new Plume Wi-Fi network will optimize to create the best performance for your connected devices. Your WiFi network is ready for use even before this time.
-
Turn off the old Wi-Fi. If you used the same SSID and password for your new Plume network, all your devices should now connect. If you decided to use a new SSID and/or password, forget the old network on your devices and enter the new credentials to connect to Plume.
