FTY45EV1A Room Air Conditioner
User Manual
MODELS: FTY45EV1A; FTY45EV1C; FTY6OEV1A; FTY6OEV1 C
Air Purifying Filter catches pollen, dust, smoke of cigarette, and unpleasant smell.
1. Hold the handle at the bottom center of the air filter, and pull it down.
2. Make sure that the net-side (black) of the filter is facing front (up) in the fig. When setting the frame, the arrows marked on the claws should be pointing upward. Set 3 claws at the top of the frame first, and then set the rest of 2 claws at the bottom.
3. Be sure to set air filters back in place. Look at page 23 for replacing of air purifying filters.
PROGRAM DRY Operation
By the microcomputer function, the air conditioner takes away the moisture with minimum temperature decrease.
This is microcomputer controlled function that determines the appropriate room temperature and humidity, and cycles the compressor and indoor fan ON and OFF to achieve and maintain them, based on the ambient temperature and humidity at the time of switching on this function.
Note
- The PROGRAM DRY function is designed primarily for dehumification and not for lowering room temperature — but remember a dehumidified room will always ‘fell’ cooler than a humid one.
- PROGRAM DRY operation is not possible in ambients below 18°C.
- There is no need to set the THERMOSTAT SETTING selector or FAN SPEED selector as PROGRAM DRY operates independently of them.
THREE-STEP Flow system
Step 1. At the start of HEAT mode, the air blows out horizontally.
Step 2. When the air temperature has risen, the unit starts warming up the floor.
Step 3. When the flow and the walls are wamed up, the warm air starts blowing toward the area around people.
© Left/Right air flow direction adjustment
The vertical louvers may be adjusted as you please.
Note:
If adjustment is carried out during flap swing, the flap may strike your hand.
Make adjustments once the swing has completely stopped appropriate position.
POWERFUL OPERATION
You can obtain a quick cooling or heating effect by entering the “POWERFUL OPERATION” mode in any of the operation modes during operation.
You can increase the cooling air speed and heighten the cooling sensation by entering the POWERFUL OPERATION mode during operation.
POWERFUL OPERATION
- When in cooling / dry mode Increase the cooling sensation by fixing the preset temperature to 18°C and the air flow rate to maximum. Preset temperature and air flow rete cannot be changed.
- When in heating mode Quickly warms the room by fixing the preset temperature to 28°C and the air flow rate to maximum. Preset temperature and air flow rate cannot be changed.
- Air flow rate remains set if air discharge temperature is too low. The air flow is automatically by set to maximum when the air discharge temperature rises.
- Automatic Mode Quickly approaches the preset temperature by fixing the air flow rate to maximum. Air flow rate cannot be changed.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Cleaning and Maintenance
Be sure to stop operation before performing maintenance.
Routine maintenance
Cleaning the air filter (It is recommended to clean them every two weeks.)
1. Take off the air filters. Hold the handle at the bottom center of the air filter, and pull it down.
2. Clean the air filters. Wash them with water, or lean them with a vacuum cleaner. If the dust does not come easily, wash them with neutral detergent thinned with lukewarm water. After washing dry them completely in the shade.
3. Set the air filters. Set them securely using both hands. Make sure that they are firmly locked in place. Unless firmly set, they may cause extra vibration or fall off.
Caution
- Do not use water hotter than 50°C. It may be deform or discolour the air filters.
- If the air conditioner is operated without air filters, dust will be let in and accumulate inside the unit. This may reduce the operation efficiency or cause troubles.
Replacing of Air Purifying Filter
Soiled Air Purifying Filter needs replacing. Air Purifying Filter should be replaced every three months on average, but if their colour is similar to either of the sample colours, replace them promptly.
- How to replace Press the claws marked with arrow, and remove the frame. Replace the filter inside, and set the frame back as they were.
As for the order for Air Purifying Filter, please contact the shop you purchased this product.
Air Purifying filter (with frame): KAF96A41
Air Purifying filter (without frame): KAF96A42
- When you don’t need Air purifying filters, operate the unit without them.
Note
- Air Purifying Filter can not be used more than once by washing.
- Using Air Purifying Filters without replacing cause impairment of air flow and operating efficiency.
For Optimum Operation
The following are tips for saving energy consumption.
- Keep the room temperature at a comfortable level. Keeping it at a comfortable level helps save energy. Adjust the setting not to cool the room too much.
- Cover window with a blind or a curtain. Block the sunlight to save energy.
- Block air from outdoors. The energy for cooling will be wasted.
- Air conditioning the room evenly. Adjust the air direction appropriately.
- Use the TIMER effectively. Use it to operate the air conditioner only when necessary.
- Clean the air filters frequently. Clogged air filters cause inefficient operation or troubles. Clean them frequently.
To prevent drain leaks from the indoor unit, check the following. Check that the drain is discharged out of the drain hose outside while the air conditioner is in cooling operation (i.e. when cold sir is flowing out of the indoor unit). (The discharge starts a little while after the start of the operation.) If there is no drain discharge, the drain hose is probably clogged by dust, trash etc. and water may leak from the indoor unit.
Trouble Shooting
The following cases are not air conditioner troubles.
• A malfunction occurred during operation.
If the air conditioner has malfunctioned due to a lightening or a car wireless while operating, turn the safety breaker OFF. Then turn it ON after at least 3 minutes and press ON/OFF button on the remote controller again.
- Operation does not start soon after ON/ OFF button is pressed.
- In the following cases, the air conditioner waits in stand-by for 3 minutes before starting operation, for system protection. Just leave it as it is for a while.
- When turned on again immediately after turning off.
- When changing the operation mode.
- When power is restored after power failure.
- The outdoor fan rotates while the air conditioner is not in operation. In the following cases, the outdoor fan continues or starts rotating for system protection.
- For 30 seconds after operation stopped.
- When the outdoor temperature is high.
- The unit gives out odour. This happens when smells of the room, furniture, or cigarettes are absorbed into the unit and discharged with the air flow.
- Mists come out of the indoor unit. This happens when the air in the room is cooled into mist by the cold air flow during cooling operation.
- The operation stopped suddenly. The air conditioner may stop operating, on a sudden large voltage fluctuation, for system protection. It automatically resumes operation in about 3 minutes.
Check Before Calling a Repairperson
If the trouble remains even after checking the following points, do not attempt to repair the air conditioner by yourself but consult the electric appliance shop.
1. The air conditioner does not operate.
- Hasn’t a breaker turned OFF or a fuse blown?
- Isn’t it a power failure?
- Are batteries set in the remote controller?
2. Does not sufficiently cool or heat.
- Is the air filter clogged?
- Is the room temperature set to the proper temperature?
- Is the suction inlet or air discharge outlet of the indoor or outdoor unit blocked?
- Are the windows or doors open?
- Is the flap positioned properly?
- Is the air flow rate set too weak?
3. The OPERATION lamp on the unit flashes on and off.
- Aren’t the air inlets and the outlets of the indoor and the outdoor units all unblocked?
WARNING: CALL THE SHOP IMMEDIATELY.
If one of the following symptoms takes place, stop the operation immediately; then turn the breaker OFF and call the electric appliance shop.
- An alien substance or water has been put in a remote controller or a unit by mistake.
- The safety devices (fuses, the safety breaker and the earth leakage breaker) cut off the operation frequently.
- Switches and buttons often do not work properly.
