Quick start.
The following will step you through installing LED Strip and connecting it to your Z-Wave network. This guide assumes that you will use the full length of the strip; should you be using less and need to cut it to size please refer to our expanded digital guide at http://support.aeotec.com/ledstrip; cutting to size should be done before the following steps are followed.
- Select a surface on which to affix LED Strip. Test both LED strips and your assumed lengths and measurements before you begin. Placing it over the installation location without sticking it down, ensure that the various lengths of LED Strip, Controller, and power adaptor are suitable.
- Connect LED Strip to Controller, plug the power adaptor into a power outlet, and connect Controller to the power adaptor. The LED on the Controller should begin to blink slowly. Should your measurements be incorrect and the LED Strip not fit where you want it, adjust the installation location as necessary.
- Press Controller’s Action Button to test that all connections work before proceeding. LED Strip should illuminate.
- Disconnect LED Strip from Controller, and Controller from power adaptor.
- Clean and dry the surface that you wish to stick LED Strip to.
- Stick LED Strip to the surface. To do so, slowly and gently peel the back protective tape from one side of the LED Strip. At the same time, push LED Strip against the surface. Move-in slow increments to ensure that LED Strip is stuck to the surface on the desired angle; adjust as needed.
- Continue until the full length of the strip is stuck to the surface.
- Plug LED Strip’s terminal end into Controller.
- Plug one end of the power adaptor into a power outlet.
- Plug the opposite end of the power adaptor into the Controller. The controller’s LED will blink slowly to indicate it is ready to join a Z-Wave network.
- Press Controller’s Action Button to toggle your LED Strip on or off to double-check that LED Strip and Controller are properly connected. Adjust if not.
- Set your Z-Wave gateway into its ‘add device’ mode in order to connect LED Strip to your Z-Wave system. Refer to the software’s manual if you are unsure of how to perform this step.
- Press Action Button on Controller; its LED will blink green.
- When LED Strip successfully joins your Z-Wave network, the Controller’s LED will turn solid green. Should Controller’s LED become solid red for 2 seconds before changing through various colors, it has been unable to join your Z-Wave network; repeat the above steps and please contact us for further support if needed.
LED Strip is now a part of your Z-Wave home control system. You can configure
it and its automations via your Z-Wave system; please refer to your software’s
user guide for precise instructions.
