Overview

This guide provides details for using the APM1 microphone from the Audyssey Custom Installer with MultEQ-X compatible AV receivers. The guide assumes access to an APM1 microphone, ACP2 calibrated preamp and supplied cables plus a CIK0021 RCA – 1/8” Mic Adapter.

Connecting Components

A. Connect a mini-XLR cable to the microphone.
B. Place the microphone stand upright and extend the boom arm. Attach the microphone holder to the end of the boom arm. Insert the microphone into the holder so it points to the ceiling.

C. Connect the mini-XLR cable from the microphone to the input (MIC IN) of the microphone preamp.
D. Connect another mini-XLR cable to the output (LINE OUT) of the mic preamp. Connect the mini-XLR-toRCA adapter to this mini-XLR cable.

E. Connect the RCA connector from the mini-XLR-to-RCA adapter to the RCA socket of the RCA-to-1/8”-
mic adapter.
F. Connect the 1/8” connector of the RCA-to-1/8”-mic adapter to the mic input jack of the AVR.

Connecting Components

Warning – Do not extend the cable from the 1/8” adapter to the AVR. If more distance between the microphone and AVR is required use additional mini- XLR cables between the microphone and preamp.

Usage

  • Download and install the MultEQ-X application from the Microsoft store: https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9P0SMVDTVHQJ

  • Refer to the MultEQ-X manual for instructions to Sign-in, purchase an AVR license and connect to an AVR.

  • On the ‘Measure’ or ‘Adjust Sub Levels’ page select ‘Add New Mic’:

  • Select APM1 and enter the serial number of your APM1 microphone in the serial number box:

  • Click the ‘Download Mic File’ button. After a short time the status should show that the mic file was downloaded successfully. If there is an error check that the serial number is entered correctly and your connection to the internet.

  • Click the ‘Add Microphone’ Button. The downloaded microphone file will be available and selected in the microphone selection drop-down, and is now ready to perform measurements.
