Safety instructions

Please carefully read the instructions before using your appliance for the first time. Any use that does not conform to the following ins1ructions does not hold accountable and cancels your products warranty.

  • Read all the instructions carefully when using your appliance and keep them in a safe place.

  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.

  • Before connecting the coffee maker, check that the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the voltage in your home. If this is not the case, contact your nearest authorized service center and do not use the appliance.

  • Switch off and unplug the coffee maker from the wall socket before filling, emptying or cleaning, or when not in use.

  • Do not operate or place any part of this appliance on or near any hot surfaces (such as gas or electric burner or in a heated oven).

  • Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter. Do not let the cord touch hot surfaces.

  • Never pull on the cord as this may damage the cord and eventually cause a risk of electric shock.

  • To disconnect, always hold the plug, and remove from wall socket.

  • Do not operate the appliance, if the power cord is damaged, It must only be replaced by authorized service center.

  • Avoid touching the hot surfaces of the appliance, use the handle and the knob instead.

  • Extreme caution must be given when moving the appliance if it contains hot water or coffee. Always use the mug’s handle when lifting it.

  • This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:
    – Staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments
    – Farm houses
    – By clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments
    – Bed and breakfast type environments

  • Do not operate this appliance without water.

  • To avoid electric hazard, do not immerse this appliance, the plug or the power cord in any liquid.

  • To avoid the risk of fire, do not operate in the presence of explosive and/or flammable fumes.

  • Do not use the coffee maker for any purpose other than making drip coffee or heating water. Other liquids will contaminate the interior.

  • This product has not been designed for any other uses than those specified in this booklet.

  • Do not remove the lid while the water is boiling.

  • Ensure that the appliance is switched OFF before removing the mug.

  • Ensure that the coffee maker is always operated on a flat surface.

  • Keep children well away, ensure that users are fully aware of the danger of escaping hot steam and splashing boiling water.

  • Never use the appliance if the mug has any signs of cracks.

  • The coffee maker shall not be placed in a cabinet when in use.

  • Misuse may cause injury.

  • Heating element surface is subjected to residual heat after use.

  • This appliance can be used by children aged above 8 years and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instructions concerning the usage of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  • Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of the children.

  • Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

  • Do not use outdoors.

  • For your own safety, only use the spare parts that are suitable to your appliance.

  • Use only cold water.

  • Do not leave the coffee maker unattended while it is operating.

  • Be careful not to get burned by the steam.

  • Ensure that the mug is placed properly in its position when brewing coffee.

  • After the brewing process, always switch off the appliance.

  • Do not use the appliance unless earthing line is available in the building or by adding residual current device (RCD) with two pins plug.

Before using your appliance, you must familiarize yourself with the different components of your appliance. Every number corresponds to one of the components of your appliance

Carefully read the below instructions before using your coffee maker.

Before the first use .

  1. Clean the mug, dosing spoon and the filter using warm water with dishwashing detergent. You can clean your mug in the dishwasher.
  2. For the body of the coffee maker, use a damp cloth to wipe it.
  3. Do not wash it in water or pass it under running water.
  4. Before making coffee you should use the coffee maker once with water only (without coffee or filter) in order to clean it. Follow the following steps: 1. Insert the plug into the socket. 2. Fill the mug with cold water, open the lid, pour the water from the mug into the water tank and close back the lid. Never exceed the max mark inside the water tank. 3. Place the mug back in its original position. 4. Start the brewing process by pressing the “ON/OFF” switch.

To make coffee

  1. Fill the mug with cold water, open the id and pour the water from the mug into the water tank
  2. Ensure that the water level does not exceed the max level mark inside the water tank
  3. Using the supplied measuring spoon, add one spoon of ground coffee in the permanent filter
  4. Close the lid
  5. Ensure that the mug is paced properly in its position
  6. Press the “On/0ff switch” and the pilot lamp will illuminate to indicate that the coffee maker is on and the brewing process has begun
  7. After the brew ng process finishes, switch off the coffee maker then you can take your mug away.

Note: You have to wait for the coffee to stop flowing before removing the mug as this appliance does not have an anti-drip nozzle.

Cleaning and maintenance

  1. Disconnect the appliance.
  2. Never immerse the appliance in water.
  3. Clean the appliance with a damp cloth only.
  4. Wash the mug and the filter with warm water and some washing detergent and a soft brush. Rinse then dry them thoroughly then re-fit them.

How to descale your coffee maker

  • Add white vinegar to the water tank using the suppiled mug, make sure not to exceed the max level mark inside the water tank
  • Switch the coffee maker on (without coffee)
  • When the vinegar starts to flow into the mug, switch off
  • Leave it to stand overnight
  • Switch on the coffee maker again to run the rest of vinegar out of the tank
  • Rinse the coffee maker by running water through it for 2 or 3 cycles to make sure the taste of vinegar s gone

You can use the normal commercials descales for coffee makers. Follow the instructions for the respective descale material.

The frequency of descaling will depend on how hard the water is in your area, and how often you use the coffee maker. If you use your coffee maker once or twice a day, the following guidelines for descaling should be followed,

• Soft water, every 6 months
• Medium water, every 2-3 months
• Hard water, every 6-8 weeks

If the time it takes to brew a cup of coffee sudden y increases, it is then recommended to descale your coffee maker. The harder the water is, the more often the coffee maker needs to be descaled.

Helpful hints

  • Use only cold water!
  • Ensure that the mug is placed properly in its position when brewing coffee.
  • After the brewing process is finished, you must wait for the coffee to stop flowing before removing the mug as this appliance does not have an anti-drip nozzle.
  • Make sure to SWITCH OFF the appliance after the brewing process is finished. CAUTION: Do not operate your coffee maker without water.
  • Between brewing processes, switch off the appliance and let it cool down for about 5 minutes. Then refill with cold water.

Troubleshooting

If your appliance doesn’t work, please check that:

  • The appliance is connected to the wall socket.
  • The switch is set to the “ON” position.
  • There is enough water in the appliance.
  • The coffee maker has not operated without water for a long time. In this case, the thermal fuse might be burnt and would require changing.

If your appliance only works intermittently, it may require descaling. If your appliance is still not working, contact a Mienta approved service centre.
