Ebike 500c Bafang Display LED
INTRODUCTION
The 500C display includes the functions shown below:
- Multiple Power Assist Levels
- Walk Assist (slow speed motor assist)
- Distance and Odometer (TRIP/TOTAL)
- Backlight / Headlight
- Speed based on current riding conditions
- Battery Gauge (Voltage or Percentage)
- ote: Voltage is recommended for a more accurate battery capacity estimation
- Error codes
- Power meter (Watts or Amps)
Notes:
- Storage temperature 30 – 80%
- Operating temperature -4°F to 158°C
- IP65 waterproof
BUTTONS
Includes control pad with three button electronic switch.
OVERVIEW DRAWING
HARDWARE
Do not over tighten the display bracket bolt or it may crack the plastic!
CAUTION
- Avoid collisions to prevent damage or malfunction.
- The unit is not water resistant so protect it from water and other liquids.
- During installation do not overtighten the bolt or it will break the plastic bracket!
INTERFACE
Note: For the battery gauge, voltage view is recommended as it provides a more accurate battery capacity.
FUNCTION OVERVIEW
Install the 500C display on the handlebar and adjust to your desired location, then secure tightly with the supplied bolt.
ON/OFF:
To turn the unit on, press and hold the power button to start the display.
Press and hold the power button again to switch it off.
Note:
- The battery must also be turned on (if applicable).
- If the display is secured with a password, you will need to input the password before operating the unit.
- The display will automatically shut down after few minutes of inactivity or ride.
Pedal Assist Level:
The display unit provides several levels of power. Press the or button to
increase or decrease the power and speed levels. When the display is powered
ON, the default PAS level is 0.
Note: Increasing your PAS level provides more power and speed.
Speed & Mileage Mode Switch:
Press the button on the underside of the display to cycle through the
information data available. Toggle between single-trip distance (TRIP), riding
time (TIME), total distance (ODO), average speed (AVG), and maximum speed
(MAX).
If there is no operation for 5 seconds, display will automatically return to
TRIP.
Headlight/Backlight Display:
Press and hold the button to turn on the 500C backlight screen. If a headlight is installed, this will also turn on the light. To turn it off, press and hold the button again.
Walk Assist Mode:
- Press and hold the button to activate walking assist mode. The pedal assist level displayed on the screen will change to P and the motor will move the bicycle at about 4mph.
- You need to keep holding down the button until you are done wanting to use the walk assist. To turn off the walk assist, let go of the button.
- The function is designed for walking alongside the bicycle only. Please do not use this function when riding.
Data Reset:
With the power on, press and hold both and buttons at the same time to reset
the temporary data, which includes AVG Speed, MAX Speed, TRIP and TIME.
These temporary data can’t be erased by powering off the unit.
Note: This does not reset the Odometer, so the overall mileage data of your
motor will still be intact.
Error Codes:
When the system encounters a problem, an error code will flash on the display.
Check details on attached list to determine the cause of the error.
The motor will stop working in the event of an error and will only work again,
when the error is cleared.
DISPLAY SETTINGS
- Preparation:
- Make sure the display is turned ON.
- To Enter Settings:
- Press and hold button for few seconds to enter the settings menu. Press the or buttons to change the selected menu, then press button again to save your preferred selection and proceed to the next setting by pressing the button.
- Press and hold button again to exit settings menu. The display will automatically exit settings menu after 30 seconds of inactivity.
- For safety reasons, display can’t enter settings menu when riding. It will also exit settings menu when riding.
Speed Unit:
The speed unit can either be displayed in Metric (Km/h) or Imperial (Mile/h). Press or button to switch between Metric and Imperial, then press button to save your selection and button to scroll to the next setting.
Brightness:
Press or button to increase or decrease the brightness level. The higher the
number of bars, the brighter the backlight.
Press button to save your selection and button to scroll to the next setting.
Auto Off:
- This is the amount of time of inactivity before the system turns off. Press or button to change the time between the range of 1 – 9 minutes, or OFF to disable Auto Off settings.
- Display will sleep and switch off after no operation on system for the selected time.
- The default value is 5 minutes.
- Press button to save your selection and button to scroll to the next setting.
Battery:
This does not need to be changed and will not affect the performance of the display.
Battery Indicator:
Press or button to change the battery indicator between Voltage and
Percentage. Voltage is recommended because it gives a more accurate battery
gauge.
Press button to save your selection and button to scroll to the next setting.
ADVANCED SETTINGS
- Preparation:
- Press and hold the power button to start the display.
- To Enter Advanced Settings:
- Press and hold button for a few seconds to enter the settings menu. Select “More” on the settings menu to enter advanced settings. You will need to enter a password to access the advanced settings menu.
- Enter the password “1919”, then press the button.
Wheel Size:
Press or button to change the wheel size, then press button to save your selection. Make sure to select the correct wheel size for accurate speed and TRIP info. Available Wheel Sizes are: 12”, 14”, 16”, 18”, 20”, 22”, 24”, 26”, 27”, 27.5”, 28”, 29”, 30”, 31”. Press button to save your selection and
Speed Limit:
- Press or button to change the speed limit between the range of 10km/h – 60 km/h. Default value is 25km/h.
- Press button to save your preferred selection and use the button to scroll to the next setting.
- Note: Check your local laws regarding e-bike speeds. Setting the speed above the legal limit is not advised.
Speed Poles:
Cannot be changed!
Start Poles: Cannot be changed!
Pedal Assist Levels:
- Press or button to change the number of pedal assist levels between 3, 5 and 9.
- Note: The number of pedal assist levels (3, 5, or 9) you set in your display divides the total power of the motor among the number of pedal assist levels.
- We highly recommend setting your display to 9 Pedal Assist Levels to have access to more incremental and available power levels.
Password settings:
This option is used to lock the display device and prevent unauthorized
access. If activated, a 4-digit input password will be required to enter the
normal user interface when the device is turned on.
Note: We do NOT recommend changing the password.
ERROR CODES
The 500C display will show the error codes below when the system encounters a
problem. The error code will show on the bottom of the screen.
