Description of the electrical appliance
This section contains information for understanding the electrical device.
General description
The LuftLicht measures the carbon dioxide (CO2) content in the ambient air via
an integrated NDIR measuring sensor. The current CO2 content is displayed in
different color levels via the light cone and the built-in LEDs. The LuftLicht
consists of a micro-USB power supply, a two-part housing, a circuit board with
all electronic components (microcontroller, LEDs, CO2 sensor, etc.) and a
screw. The LuftLicht is intended for measuring CO2 in a room. To use, connect
the included power adapter to the micro-USB port on the device and place it at
least 1.5 meters away from people. The device should be exposed to fresh air
once a week. Extensive ventilation is sufficient for this purpose. Depending
on the CO2 concentration, the device will light up green (up to 1000ppm),
yellow (between 1000 ppm and 2000 ppm) or red (above 2000 ppm). If required, a
Kensington lock can be attached to the side of the device as theft protection.

the electrical device.
Transport is the change of location of the electrical equipment by manual or
technical means.
Basics
Transport room
In the case of in-house transport, the electrical equipment is transported on
the company premises from one installation site to another installation site.
Legislation
In-plant transport of the electrical equipment is carried out in accordance
with the legislation of the country in which the electrical equipment is
transported out of the plant.
Transport units
To prevent damage during transport, the electrical device must not be
transported with the power supply unit connected. During external transport,
the two units (air-light, power supply unit) that make up the electrical
device are transported.
Environmental conditions
Off-site transportation can be performed under the following environmental
conditions:
- Ambient temperature: -20 – +60 °C
- Relative humidity: 0 – 95 %.
Technical data
Means of transport
For safe internal transport, a means of transport is required that meets the
following requirements:
- The load capacity must be dimensioned so that the mass of the electrical device can be safely supported
- The size of the transport surface must be such that the electrical appliance can be safely placed on the transport surface without falling off.
Commissioning
This section contains information on the commissioning of the electrical
device.
The purpose of commissioning the electrical equipment is to check its
functions and characteristics, as well as to detect and eliminate faults.
Installation site and room size
The LuftLicht should be mounted at a height of about 2m, centered on a wall
and should not be exposed to direct sunlight. In principle, CO2 is very
volatile and is distributed relatively evenly throughout the room. The
guideline value for a LuftLicht is the room size of approx. 75 sqm. This
specification refers to rectangular rooms. For rooms with a special cross-
section, such as a bay window, an L-shape, or many room dividers, another
LuftLicht should be placed in the less accessible area, if necessary. Putting
electrical appliances into operation To put the LuftLicht into operation, the
supplied power supply unit is connected to the micro-USB port provided for
this purpose.
Functional test:
After plugging the power supply to the device, it briefly lights up white and
then changes its color according to the current CO2 concentration in the room.
Operation
This section contains information for the safe use of the electrical appliance.
Use electrical appliance
The LuftLicht is designed for automatic operation. After commissioning, it
does not require any ongoing configuration. Interaction with the device is
exclusively optical.
The LuftLicht displays the concentration of CO2 in the room air in three
levels:
- Green: 415-999 ppm CO2 – good air quality
- Yellow: 1000-1999 ppm CO2 – ventilation advisable
- Red: from 2000 ppm CO2 – ventilation urgently necessary

| Sensor was found, but does not provide any values:
1. Plugging in and unplugging the device
2. If the error persists, return the device to the manufacturer
LuftLicht is always jaune or red| The measuring chamber was deformed by
mechanical shock: Recalibration by the customer is possible. (14.1)
Self-calibration of the electric device
To guarantee the best possible CO2 measurement, a self-calibrating NDIR high-
performance sensor is installed in the LuftLicht. This sensor detects the CO2
content of the ambient air and stores the lowest value every day. This value
is interpreted as the CO2 content of the fresh air. This assumes that the room
is well ventilated once a day. This process is repeated daily. If the daily
stored lowest value deviates less than +- 25 ppm in 7 consecutive days, the
sensor calibrates itself to this value. The operation is shown on the
following infographics:
Due to a mechanical shock or a strong vibration, the measuring chamber in the
sensor can easily deform. The result is that the sensor has an “offset” and
displays yellow / red even with fresh air. This does not at all mean a defect
of the LuftLicht, but only an “offset” of the sensor. Since the LuftLicht can
recalibrate itself, this is not a big deal.
The last case describes this effect:
The LuftLicht is “misaligned” and measures 840 ppm CO2 even with fresh air.
To recalibrate the sensor to the correct value, ensure that the LuftLicht
receives fresh air for at least 20 minutes for 7 consecutive days. After
exactly 7 days, the sensor will automatically detect that 840 ppm is the new
minimum and reset this offset to 420 ppm CO2. You can continue to use the
LuftLicht as before.
Forced calibration
A forced calibration of the device by the customer is possible from version
S18. All devices with a version below S18 are requested to follow the
calibration according to 14.1. The information about the version of the device
is located on the bottom of the device.
Forced calibration process
- Connect the device to the power plug.
- Press the recalibration button with a pointed object for 5 seconds.
- After 5 seconds, the device lights up blue.
- Reinitialization will take 5 minutes, please wait.
- After the 5 minutes have elapsed, place the device in fresh air.
- When the calibration is complete, the device turns green again.
- The device is now recalibrated and ready for use again.
