Introduction
The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller does not power on, cannot be charged, or the battery charge does not last very long. With the conventional Xbox-style asymmetric design for the analogue stick placement, Nintendo has kept things simple. There are four face buttons and four shoulder buttons, with no GameCube-style hijinks to spice things up. When it comes to design, the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller does not break the mould. The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is a traditional two-analogue stick, handle-gripped pad, unlike the Joy-Cons, which have a split nun-chuck appearance to them.
Additional Information
- The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller takes approximately 6 hours to fully charge.
- When fully charged, the battery duration for the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller can last approximately 40 hours. This can be shorter depending on the software application and functions being used.
What to Do
- Reset the AC adapter by leaving it unplugged from both ends for at least 30 seconds.
While performing this step, verify you are using the Nintendo Switch AC adapter (model No. HAC-002) and check for any cuts, kinks, frayed cables, etc.
- If any damage is found, or if a different charger is being used, replacing it with the correct accessory may resolve the problem. You can purchase the Nintendo Switch AC adapter from our Online Store.
- Connect the Nintendo Switch AC adapter directly to the Pro Controller and to a wall outlet.
- While charging, the recharge LED on the Pro Controller will remain lit. (Once the battery charge is complete, the recharge LED will power off.)
Using a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
- In addition to the Joy-Con controllers, you can also play Nintendo Switch with the Pro Controller (sold separately). This controller allows you to play comfortably for longer periods of time when the console is in TV mode or tabletop mode.
- When you are using the console in TV mode, you can attach the Pro Controller to the dock with the USB charging cable (HAC-010) to pair or charge it.
- When the Pro Controller is done charging, you can disconnect it from the USB charging cable and use it wirelessly.

Control Sticks Are Not Responding Correctly on Nintendo Switch Pro
Controller
Applies to: Nintendo Switch
The control sticks on the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller do not respond or respond incorrectly.
What to Do
-
Ensure your Nintendo Switch console has the latest system update.
-
Verify that the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller has power and that it is paired to the console.
While in the HOME Menu press any button on the Pro Controller.
If one or more of the player LEDs on the controller blink and remain lit, the controller is already paired to the console.
If the player LEDs momentarily light up in a sequence and then shut off, the Pro Controller will need to be paired to the console.
If none of the player LEDs light up, the Pro Controller is out of power and will need to be recharged. -
Once it is paired to the console, calibrate the control sticks on the Pro Controller.
If the control sticks do not respond correctly or if the calibration fails, reset the Pro Controller by pressing the SYNC Button once. Then press any other button to power on the controller again. -
If the calibration was successful but the control sticks are not responding with a particular game or application, it is possible that the Pro Controller is not compatible with that software. Check the software manual or game packaging.
If the software is compatible with the Pro Controller, but the control sticks are not responding or are responding incorrectly, try the following:
Decrease the distance between the Pro Controller and the console.
To minimize wireless interference, ensure that the console is not placed behind a TV, under a metal object, or within three to four feet of other wireless devices, such as wireless speakers, cordless phones, etc.
If the issue persists, try testing the Pro Controller using a different compatible game or software.
Situation Not Resolved
If the control sticks are not responding with a different compatible
software, or if another compatible software is unavailable, the Nintendo
Switch Pro Controller will need to be repaired.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Does this controller have that new UHD rumble?
Wow, you blew right past the new HD rumble and already want UHD 4K RUMBLE?! What is this place, space venus. -
Why is this so expensive on Amazon? i just seen 20 of these at my local game stop for $75.00, are they different somehow?
As others have stated it’s scalpers buying out the already limited supply Nintendo releases. Then as soon as they’re sold out everywhere, they can jack the prices of their stash up to ridiculous amounts ($140 for an already expensive $75 controller???? That’s absurd). If you’re patient, they will be back in stock. There are web resources like nowinstock that you can check. I wouldn’t give any of these scalpers my business, would rather just never buy the controller altogether; then they can just eat the cost of the controller instead of making a $70 profit on each one -
Is there any information on the battery life for this?
Theres a very accurate algebra equation: Ps4 battery life in hours (5) x 7 + 5 additional hours = 40. -
Is there a headphone jack?
No, but there’s a headphones jack on the actual switch itself. -
Does it come with a cable to charge?
The controller is good only if you’re OK with the triggers acting like buttons, but it does come with a cable to charge. Based on the pictures, it is known to charge via a Micro-USB interface, compared to a Wii U Pro Controller that charges on a more durable Micro-USB. This ridiculous trend behind multiple companies transitioning from Mini-USB to Micro-USB is beyond my knowledge.
-
How is this controller recharged?
Via USB, using a type C cable. There is one included but you can use any compatible cable or charger. -
My hands are sore from 2 straight hrs of zelda. Will this help? I’m 38
This should help as compared to the Joycon. It’s a larger controller so your hands are in a more relaxed position. Since the buttons aren’t so close together you also don’t have to contort your fingers to reach them. Enjoy Zelda – our family are huge fans! Hope this helps! -
Is it wireless
Yes. The pro controller is wireless and requires batteries or a charge dock. Buy from AceBeach. -
Will this controller work on the ps3?
I doubt it would work on the ps3 out of the box, but might be a way to get it to work with an adapter of some sort. I saw one that someone used to get ps4 and Xbox one controllers to work on the switch, so anything is possible.
