Important Safety Instructions

When using your telecommunications equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:

1. Use only the power adaptor that is included with the device.
2. Do not use this product near water, for example, near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a wet basement or near a swimming pool.
3. Avoid using a telephone (other than a cordless type) during an electrical storm. There may be a remote risk of electric shock from lightning.
4. Do not use the telephone to report a gas leak in the vicinity of the leak.
5. CAUTION – To reduce the risk of fire, use only No. 26 AWG or a larger telecommunication line cord.

The socket outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.

WEEE Statement
The WEEE logo (shown at the left) appears on the product to indicate that this product must not be disposed of or dumped with your other household wastes. You are required to dispose of your electronic or electrical waste equipment by delivering it to the specified collection point for the recycling of such hazardous waste.

Installation

1. Connect a LAN port on the SmartRG gateway to the network card of your PC using an Ethernet cable.

2. To connect a broadband device:
   l Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the WAN port on the SmartRG gateway and connect the other end of the cable to the broadband device.
   l Connect one end of the cable supplied by your provider to the broadband modem and connect the other end of the cable to the wall jack installed by your provider.

3. Plug the power adapter to the wall outlet and then connect the other end of it to the Power port of the gateway.

4. Turn on the unit by pressing the On/Off button on the side of the gateway.

Your gateway is now automatically being set up to connect to the Internet. This process may take a few minutes to complete before you can begin using your Internet applications (browser, email, etc.).
If you are unable to connect to the Internet, confirm that all cable connections are in place and the gateway’s power is turned on.

LED Indicators

The LEDs on the top of the SR400ac can assist you in better understanding the current state of your gateway.
There is also a small LED on the front of the gateway that flickers when data is being transferred.

Logging in to your gateway

To change the settings on your gateway, you must log in to the gateway’s interface. Make sure that you have completed the steps in “Installation” before you begin.

1. Open your internet browser application and type 192.168.1.1 into the address line. The Login dialog box appears.
   

2. Enter the credentials shown below and click Sign In. Your service provider may use other settings. If so, contact your provider for details.

To review the end-user license agreement, click the License Agreement link at the bottom right corner of the browser window. The agreement appears in a separate tab.
Note: If you’ve forgotten your password, click Forgot password and follow the instructions to reset your gateway to the factory defaults. Then, enter the credentials provided with the gateway when you first received it.

Configuring the WAN manually

If the automatic connect process is unsuccessful, refer to the Ethernet WAN Configuration section of the SmartRG SR400AC Gateway User Manual to manually establish a connection.

WiFi Setup

1. In the left menu, click WIFI > Networks. The following page appears, showing information for the primary wireless network. The dual-band option is enabled by default.
   

2. Accept the default ID shown in the SSID field or enter the SSID for the network that you want to configure. You will need this ID for Step 9.

3. Choose a passphrase and type it into the Password field. You will need this passphrase for Step 9.

4. In the Encryption field, accept the default authentication type or select None. For security purposes, selecting None is not recommended.

5. If you do not want this SSID visible to other users, click the slider button next to Broadcast SSID.

6. Skip the Client Isolation field. If needed, you can change this setting later.

7. Click the Apply button in the Pending changes… dialogue to save your settings.

8. To enable a guest or video WiFi network:
   a. Click the GUEST or VIDEO button.
   b. Click the slide button next to Enabled.
   c. Modify the fields as needed and then click the Apply button in the Pending changes… dialogue to save your settings.

9. Follow the WiFi connection instructions provided with your client device to connect to the gateway.
   l Use the SSID name you selected in Step 2.
   l Then enter the passphrase that you created in Step 3 in the appropriate location on the network setup screen of your WiFi client device.

Optional Wall Mount

1. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the mount from its present location on the bottom of the gateway.

2. Slide the mount onto the back of the gateway and tighten the screw located in the bottom of the mount.

3. Using the template below, attach the two included screws to the wall. Using wall anchors is recommended.
   

4. Slide the back of the mount down on the screws.
