NEED TO KNOW
- The pump’s maximum air pressure is 20 PSI (1.378 Bar /138 Kilo-Pascal). The air pressure user setting is recorded in the pump memory when the power is disconnected. Before every use of this pump, it is the user’s sole responsibility to make sure that the pump is set to the desired air pressure. Incorrect air pressure settings may either under or over-inflate the inflatable product.
- This pump is designed to use a car cigarette lighter port or boat 12V DC socket. If you will use a portable battery, please make sure your pump’s battery is fully charged before your trip. Also, make sure the battery voltage is 12V. The max loading of the power source can support a 15 Amp current. The pump requires a minimum 12V, 7AH battery as a power source to work properly.
- Always check the air hose, valve connector, and inflatable product before starting the pump. Do not block the Inflation port and Deflation port. This pump will make a loudly sound since its high a pressure 2nd-stage cylinder pumping unit.
- This pump can auto switch from 1st stage to 2nd stage, or 2nd stage to 1st stage based on the pressure reading from its internal sensor. The switch point is set at 0.8 PSI.
- The pump will auto stop after continuously running for 20 minutes. It is suggested to cool down the pump before its next continuous operation. Otherwise, you must check the pump temperature before the next use. For a fast cooldown of the pump, you can turn on the air pump to let it work in the air for 1 minute.
- If you have to return the product, please first contact Seamax Marine or the dealer that you purchase it from. Repairs may only be performed by an authorized service technician. The manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused as a result of improper use or failure to observe these instructions.

QUICK AND EASY CONNECTION
NEW FEATURES AND PROTECTION
-
Fully Support Auto Mode or Manual Mode. When you inflate a product the auto model cannot fulfill your requirement. For example, the pump cannot switch to 2 stages too early. Or you may never need the 2 nd stage, or switch to 2nd stage if pressure is too high. You can choose its manual model. Simply press the “HIGH” button to directly start the pump 2nd stage air compressor. It is suitable for using the pump with a smaller air valve adaptor against the back pressure, such as a Boston air valve. You can also press the “LOW” button to start the pump with 1st stage only. The turbofan will be on and keep going. But the pump won’t switch to the 2nd stage. Pressure the same button again to stop the pump from manual mode or auto model. That combination will help you to use this pump with a wide range inflatable products, including kayaks, mattresses, and many other water toys. A built-in cooling fan will extend the pump continued working time to 30 minutes.
-
Input voltage real-time monitoring system. Pump normal working voltage range is 9V-15V. This pump will stop working or won’t start if the voltage is below 9V or over 15V. If the input voltage is too low, the pump will not have enough power to inflate your inflatable product’s air chamber to a higher pressure fast enough. Such a situation will easily cause the pump’s piston to overheat damage. If the input voltage is too high, it will cause the motor to overheat the issue and burn the pump’s electronic components. ERROR icon and voltage reading will keep blinking when the voltage issue is detected. The pump will be back to normal after the detected voltage is within its safe working range (9 to 15V).
-
Overheat protection. When the pump’s internal temperature reaches 85 Celsius degrees (85°C or 185°F), the pump will stop working immediately. And the pump “Start-Up” feature will be locked for temporary Self-Protection. The LCD screen will show a flashing ERROR – OVERHEAT message. The pump will be automatically unlocked after its internal temperature drops below 50°C (122°F). To bypass this waiting period, user can reconnect its power plug to reset the pump. Disconnect the air hose and turn on the pump in cool air for 3 minutes for fast cooling down before pumping again.
-
When the air pressure is over 5 PSI and below the user’s set pressure, the pump will start monitoring the pressure increment. If the pressure increment is less than 0.05 PSI after 20 seconds of continuous running, the Pump Self-Protection will be activated and stop working. User should check all the connection and O Rings size to make sure all components are airtight and the right fit, before start pumping again. If without this self-protection, the inflator could be permanently damaged in few minutes.
-
The pump will stop automatically after 20 minutes of continuous running regardless the pump’s working stage and condition.
PUMP PACKAGE CHECK LIST
Please make sure the following accessories are provided in the box. In case of any parts missing, please contact the original seller or Seamax. Spend some time studying this manual and experience all the pump functions, especially how to properly set the target air pressure before trying to inflate a product.
The pump’s 12V DC cigarette lighter power adapter has a built-in 12A fuse. Unscrewing the head connector bolt can access this fuse if replacement is needed. FIRST TIME USE
- Select a valve adapter and an O-Ring with the correct thickness to fit your inflatable product’s air valve.
- You can use your original valve adapter if it provides a better inflation result than using the ones provided with the pump. Modifying the valve connector won’t affect your pump’s existing warranty coverage.
- Test Run is necessary before the first time use. You can stop the pump at any time by pressing its power button. Do NOT leave the pump running unattended even considering its auto-stop feature!
- Do NOT let the pump run for more than 20 minutes continuously. Inflate one SUP / Paddle Boat at a time. Extended usage beyond its recommended continuous running time can cause overheating and damage the internal inflator.
- Using smaller valve fittings limits the airflow speed, so the pump will be easier to get overheated. User’s attention is very important for this type of application. The max 20 minutes continuous working time must be reduced accordingly.
- Low-quality instable power source will decrease the pump running performance. The needed time to complete inflating a product will be increased. This can cause overheating issues and damage the pump’s inflator quickly. Do NOT operate the pump with any low capacity, low voltage, and low-quality battery.
- If the air hose section near the pump port is getting warmer such as over 60ºC (92ºF), stop using the pump immediately to let it cool down first.
- If the environment temperature is too high, the pump’s maximum continuous working time shall be reduced accordingly.
INFLATION OPERATION
-
Plug the pump power adapter into the car’s 12V DC socket, or into a battery with a converter.
-
Connect the end with a flexible conduit adaptor (1) of the air hose with the air pump inflation port (1), and twist clockwise to tighten it (Figure 1).
-
Connect the other end of the air hose with an air valve adapter. Insert it into the supported product’s air valve and twist clockwise to fix it (Figure 2).
-
Press the air pressure unit toggle button [PSI/BAR] to select your preferred unit such PSI or BAR.
-
Press the Increase Air Pressure button [+] or cycle as decrease Air Pressure button. Set the desired target pressure value matching your inflatable product’s air pressure requirement from 0.5 PSI to 20 PSI (1PSI=0.0689BAR).
-
The pressure setting increment is 0.5 PSI. Press the On/Off power switch button to start the pump.
-
During the inflating process, you can press the Increase Air Pressure button [+] or Decrease Air Pressure Button [-] to adjust the target air pressure value. Press the Air Pressure Unit toggle button [PSI/BAR] to switch the air pressure unit. Pressing the On/Off power button can stop pumping manually.
-
During the inflating process, the LCD screen displays the inflatable product’s ongoing real-time air pressure. The preset target air pressure number will appear in every 3 seconds in flashing mode for the user’s information.
DEFLATION OPERATION
- Remove the hose from the inflation port. Connect the end with a flexible conduit adaptor (11) of the hose with the air pump deflation port (2). Twist clockwise to tighten it (Figure 3 – SUP20D). The other end shall still be to the inflatable product. Please know you should release all the high-pressure air before attaching the pump for deflation. Press the On/Off Power Button to start the deflation until all the air inside the inflatable product is discharged. Turn off the air pump to stop the deflation.
SPECIAL PRESSURE MONITORING FEATURE
This SUP20MAX Air pump is equipped with a special Smart Pressure Monitoring
Feature. Once the pressure reading reaches 0.6 PSI when inflating in the 1
stage, the program will start monitoring the pressure increasement. If the
pressure increment is less than 0.03 PSI in a period of continuous 6 seconds,
the internal controller sees the 1 ST stage is reaching its max inflation
capacity. Then the pump will receive a signal to stop the 1 ST st stage
inflation by the piston compressor.
Based on the new program, this pump can provide the best inflation efficiency
for inflatable SUP, boat, kite, tent, and any kinds of inflatable tops
provided using a suitable air valve adapter and max 20 PSI pressure
requirement met. It saves users time and energy to quickly inflate the product
to the targeted PSI.
To best utilize this function in the proper way, a good condition qualified
power source is necessary to support the pump. During the whole inflation
process, users need to make sure the airtightness and minimized air leaking
along the air passage from the pump’s inflation port to your inflatable
product through the air hose connection.
In case the pump could not automatically switch to the 2 stages and start the
2 nd stage, the user can stop the pump and make sure the chamber reading
pressure can be over 0.6PSI, and you start the pump again to activate the 2 nd
stage manually. If the pump detects over 0.6 PSI pressure when started, it
will bypass the 1 nd stage for high pressure pumping directly.
Tips: if the 1 st stage and switch to the 2 nd stage could not start properly
in some unusual situation, the user can use a manual pump to inflate the
product to about 1 PSI, and then use this pump to do the rest of the inflation
process directly starting from tis 2 st stage. When the air pressure is over 5
PSI, the pump will start the monitoring program again. If the pressure
increment rate starts to decrease for a set period of time or the internal
temperature is over 85 Celsius (185 Fahrenheit), the internal protection mode
will be activated. The pump will stop automatically to avoid overheating
issues. nd

TROUBLESHOOTING
Reconnect the Power Cord for a fast check before troubleshooting!
Most of the issues may be caused by low power voltage or a weak 12V
connection. Continuous usage of the pump in such conditions can easily damage
the pump’s 2nd stage compressor due to overheating issues. Before solving the
inferior power source issue, the user shall not use the pump in the same
condition for over 3 minutes. Following guidelines can help users perform
basic troubleshooting steps.
- If not done yet, use your car’s battery as the power source. This pump needs a good battery to continuously provide 15 Amp output for its 12 Amp power consumption. Do NOT use a small 110V to 12V DC converter even if they are 15A rated.
- If the car battery is over 2 years old or purchased as used, you can turn on the engine when pumping and see any difference. Best you can check the battery voltage with Digital Electric Multimeter and make sure the battery voltage is over 12V.
- You should check your air hose connection of airtight. Make sure you put the right size O ring on the valve adaptor. When you turn off the pump with a certain pressure remain in the SUP chamber, and do not disconnect the hose, you should not hear any air leaking from the connection on both sides of the hose. You can also use 5% soapy water to check to verify the air leaking.
- Tune up your 12V socket is very important, you can shine the socket by using Sand Paper. Lighting cigarettes can make the 12V socked with extra electrical resistance. Even a GPS is working fine, but it may not be good enough for this pump since 12Amp is needed. So we want you to check this part or change another socket or vehicle to try.
You can discuss with us any other problems. Otherwise, if your pump had been checked and no more high pressure was created. we believe your pump had been damaged. Then you get to contact us via email directly for repair or replacement. You can find our email on the Seamax Marine website or the pump user manual. Since we can’t give you our email address from the Amazon message. You can forward this message to our customer service with your original order ID. And you may need to pay for the shipping and handling cost if your purchase is over 60 days and return the original pump. Thanks again for contacting Seamax.

AIR VALVE CONNECTION
- This pump is suitable for the products with HR (Halkey-Roberts), Bravo, or similar air valves. They are the most popular air valves for the inflatable SUPs and paddleboards in the current market. This type of air valve has a center turning pin (HR valve) or pushing pin (Bravo) to control the air valve’s Open / Close position. The universal valve adapter supplied with the pump shall fit it.
- Please make sure the air valve is in its Close position when inflating the air chamber. Otherwise, some air may leak from the valve when the air hose is disconnected. Our air pump comes with a universal HR valve adaptor with 3 different thickness Silicon Rubber O-Rings (3mm/5mm/6mm ). The 6mm O-ring is pre-installed on the air hose valve adaptor. It should have one to fit your air valve best and be air-tight.
- If you cannot use our valve adapter for your inflatable product, you may have to cut the hose to install yours from the original manual pump. You can use the electric tape to ensure the diameter fit and is tight. You can also contact Seamax Marine to apply for a set of Free Air Hose for this modification.
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
- After use, or if you want to move, maintain or adjust the product, first pull out the DC plug from the socket. Clean all dirt from the pump. If the pump gets wet, let it dry in the air before packing it into a carrying bag.
- The pump shall be properly stored after being fully cooled. It shall not be exposed to the rain or immersed in water. We provide a cap to protect the dirt from getting into your pump.
- Store it in a dry and ventilated place. Check the preset air pressure setting before you turn off the air pump. Best to store your pump in the temperature range at 5º C -20º C (37º F – 52º F).
- This pump does not have a built-in battery. For your own Lead Acid battery, you should fully charge it before storing it. Leaving the battery in a poorly charged state for extended periods of time (1 month or more) will damage the battery.
