Outside of the Wi-Fi range, you can use Bluetooth to operate the speaker with your phone or tablet and listen to whatever your device can play.

You can also use the Bose Music app to connect your Bose Portable Smart Speaker to any other Bose smart speakers or soundbars in your house for a seamless audio experience. Listen to various songs in separate rooms, or sing along to one song in every room at the same time.

Is it possible to make or receive phone calls with the Bose Portable

Smart Speaker?

Yes. You can only use Alexa to make or receive calls to Bose smart devices, Amazon Echo devices, and anybody on your contact list. To call goods, both sides must have this function enabled and be connected to the internet through Wi-Fi.

• Do I have to buy the charging cradle to charge this?
  The speaker does come with a USB-C power cord and supply so you don’t need the charging cradle to charge the system.

• Can this be used as a mic and speaker for conference calls blue toothed to an iPhone?
  Yes. If you connect via Bluetooth directly from your smartphone, it operates exactly like any BT speaker: Volume projects sound from the caller, and there is a mic on the speaker that broadcasts your voice back to the caller. I’ve done this floating in our pool.

• Can this connect to my TV?
  You can connect the Portable Home Speaker to your TV through Bluetooth (if it is a smart TV). Please be aware the speaker is not designed for this function and you may experience an audio delay with the picture due to Bluetooth processing.

• Where can I find the Bose Music app?
  The Bose Music app can be found in your smartphone app store.

• Does it have an FM tuner? if not what speaker does?
  The Portable Smart Speaker is a wireless home speaker, a portable Bluetooth speaker, and a voice-controlled speaker, all in one. Around the house, you can move it from room to room—and when you leave your home, you can take it with you. Anywhere with Wi-Fi, you can control it with your voice and stream music directly from the cloud. Outside the Wi-Fi range, you can control it like any other portable speaker with your mobile phone or tablet via Bluetooth and listen to anything you can play on your device.

• Can I connect directly to pandora, iheart radio, etc. directly without using Alexa or google assistant?
  Yes, you can.

• Which has better quality sound? This or the Bose home speaker 300? Is having a portable speaker worth the extra money?
  To my ear they were the same. I bought the home speaker first. But its dependence on the wall plug seriously limited where I could place it. With the potable, the same quality sound goes where I want, even camping. Definitely worth it.

• I can’t seem to turn this speaker completely off? even after holding the off button for 2 seconds, the unit is still in sleep mode killing the battery
  To power off the speaker, press and hold the Power button on the top of the speaker until the power light turns off.

• Is it true that you can not connect it to youtube or your phone?
  Sure, you can connect it to your phone! I use the speaker for Bluetooth as much as I do for direct commands via Alexa. As far as connecting it to YouTube, that would be via an app on your phone or another device. Easy to do.

• Is it compatible with Bluetooth and wifi on a Macbook Air and iPad Pro?
  It is compatible with both. We are currently using an iPad, iPhone, and MacBook Air. You can only connect 1 at a time and you control using the Bose app downloadable free from the App Store.

• Can this speaker be connected to Alexa in a way so that it will play with the “everywhere” group?
  Alexa is already built if Alexa works in your country. But you can use your cell phone’s Alexa app to send music to this Speaker.
