Machine operation

Ice cube makers can be easily adapted to the furnishings of each room.
– They mainly consist of:
a) A refrigerating circuit that provides the cooling capacity to obtain the ice and the hot gas to detach the ice at the end of the cycle.
b) An area called evaporator, consisting of cooled metal cups, in which the ice if formed
c) a pump and a sprayer to recirculate the water, which is then turned into ice, by collecting it from a bowl and spraying it evenly on the cooled cups of the evaporator, thus ensuring the formation of ice.
d) finally a bin that contains the ice produced – the production cycle stops either because the probe in the bin detects that the bin is full or because the user switches off the machine.
– The formation of ice cubes takes place inside cooled metal cups located in the top part of the machine called evaporator; during the ice formation phase, these cups are always sprayed with water by a sprayer placed below them; the sprayer is fed by a pump that collects a certain amount of water from the underlying bowl, and recirculates it, so it can gradually turn into ice.
– When the ice cubes have reached the expected size, the evaporator probe detects the right conditions and, by means of the electronic board, it activates the opening of the hot gas valve which heats the evaporator, and simultaneously opens the water inlet valve, filling the bowl and also helping the ice cubes detach from the evaporator. During this phase, the pump remains still in order not to ruin the ice being detached.
– Once detached, the cubes slide on an inclined grid located inside the tray and are conveyed to the underlying bin.
– after a certain time defined by the board, the hot gas valve closes again and the ice formation phase restarts; the time for a complete cycle may vary from about 15’ to about 35’ depending on the water and ambient temperatures.
– The amount of ice in the bin is controlled by the electronic probe fixed on a wall of the bin; when the cubes reach the level of the bulb the machine stops completely. After removal of the ice, allowing the bulb to be released from contact with the cubes, the ice maker will resume its normal production.
Note: After collecting the ice, remove any residues from the control bulb so that production can resume faster.

2.2 Warranty
For the general conditions of the warranty, please contact your local official distributor. In case of replacement of components, always ask for original spare parts.

COMMISSIONING

See the illustrative figures:

Note: For a perfect water outflow from the device, provide a minimum 3% slope of the pipe checking that it is not subject to bottlenecks or siphoning. It is recommended that the pipe discharges into an open siphon (fig.7).

Before electrically connecting the machine, make sure that the network voltage corresponds to the one indicated on the identification plate placed on the back of the appliance (fig. 10).

The maximum permitted tolerance on the voltage variation is of ± 10% of the rated value. Provide an electrical supply circuit to the machine with its own main omnipolar switch in order to guarantee an opening distance of the contacts which allows the full disconnection under the conditions of the overvoltage category III.

Dimension the circuit according to the amperage indicated on the identification plate (fig.10). The electrical socket must be easily accessible Once the correct connection to the hydraulic network and to the electrical one is checked, open the water feeding valve and insert the plug into the socket. If the machine is in standby, the illuminated button will flash every 30″. To exit standby and to finally start the machine, press the luminous switch for at least 3 seconds, until the start of the machine is signalled with a long beep (fig.9). It is recommended not to use the first 5 cycles of ice. The ice maker is equipped with a temperature probe present in the ice bin (fig.14), which allows the machine and ice production to stop when the bulb comes into contact with the ice accumulated in the bin. Never stop the water with the machine into operation, do not obstruct the air suction inlets.
Note: After the collection, release the control bulb from any ice remainders for a faster resuming of the production (fig.14).

Before electrically connecting the machine, make sure that the network voltage corresponds to the one indicated on the identification plate placed on the back of the appliance (fig. 10).

  • Check that there are no abnormal vibrations due to loosened screws.
  • In case of intervention due to water leaks, tightening of screws or other, always stop the machine first.
  • Check an ice cycle by checking that the cubes are discharged into the bin.
  • Check the operation of the bin probe (fig. 14): lay an ice cube on the bulb inside the bin, the ice maker should stop within 1 minute and restart automatically after its removal, in a short time.

4.1 Ice cubes adjustment
As the room temperature changes, the size and weight of the ice cubes may in turn change. To adjust this size and weight, follow the procedure below:
a) Press, with the machine running, the button (Fig.9) 3 times within 2 seconds; the button will take on a colour between white and red.

(AL06) High temperature at condenser outlet| Machine stops, condenser fan remains on to lower the condenser temperature, or water valve remains open in case of water condensation. (once it has cooled down, the machine restarts making a few attempts to see if the alarm is no longer present, then it stops permanent- ly)| Check cleanliness and ventilation of condenser, check that the condenser fan is turning, check position of condenser probe; in water-cooled versions, check the water supply and operation of the water inlet valve.
(AL07) Condenser probe alarm| Condenser probe faulty or outside allowed value range, the machine works with continuous ventilation or water inlet always activated.| Check condenser probe-board connection, check that the ohm value read is correct, replace probe.
(AL08) Evaporator probe (if present)| Evaporator probe faulty or outside allowed value range, the machine works with historical data if necessary| Check evaporator probe-board connection, check for ice cube accumulation in the evaporator area, check that the ohm value read is correct, replace probe.
(AL09) Blackout – No power supply| The machine will resume operation in the state before the power failure.| Check the electrical connections and power source. (To remove the alarm message, press once to silence the buzzer, press again to remove the message if within the first minute, second press only if the minute has already passed).
Alarm| Machine status| Solution
---|---|---
(AL10) High pressure alarm| The machine stops, the condenser fan remains on to lower the condenser temperature, or the water valve remains open in case of water condensation. (once it has cooled down, the machine restarts making a few attempts to see if the alarm is no longer present, then it stops permanently)| Check cleanliness and ventilation of condenser, check that the condenser fan is turning, check position of condenser probe; in water-cooled versions, check the water supply and operation of the water inlet valve, replace maximum pressure switch.
(AL11) Discharge pump alarm| Machine stops and periodically attempts to drain water, for a limited number of times| Check that the water drainage line is not clogged, check operation of drainage pump, check cleanliness of level sensor, check discharge tray outlets.
(AL14) Condenser clean- ing| Machine continues to work| It is advisable to clean the condenser or air filter, or in water-cooled versions, check whether the water supply is sufficient or too hot
(AL15) Probe reversal| Machine stops| Check probe wiring on board, exchange or replace if necessary
