Features and Connections
Set Up
The CLU/CLUP allows you to choose between continuous operation and sensor operation. The tip cleaner contains a sensor that detects when the soldering cartridge approaches the window and automatically starts the brush rotation. You can choose between 3 different settings for sensor operation:
Levels can be selected as follows:
- Turn on the CLU/CLUP by pressing the On / Off key.
- Push the “Sensor Mode” key until the interior light and keypad LEDs make one, two or three blinks. The number of blinks indicates the selected level.
- Push the sensor mode button to change to the next level. If the button is held down, the level changes continuously to the next one until the button is released (changes from level 1 to 2, from 2 to 3 and from 3 to 1).
The level configuration is saved by the tip cleaner and will not be changed after the device is restarted.

Operation
For best cleaning results, we recommend placing the tip between the two brushes for just 1 second. Longer exposure time would lead to dewetting of tip surface causing oxidation. If excessive pressure is applied with the tool against any of the brushes, the cleaner stops automatically in order to protect the motors. Putting the tool out of the sensor detection area automatically reactivates the cleaner.
