Thank you for purchasing JOYO “BOURBON STREET” tube amplifier. Please read this owner’s manual carefully before operation. Please proceed according to this owner’s manual so as to ensure the best performance, and please keep it for future reference.

Jazz is said to have developed in Bourbon Street, with artists such as King Oliver and Jelly Roll Morton. In the 21st century Bourbon Street is the home of New Orleans Musical Legends Park, a free, outdoor venue for live jazz performances, with sculptures and other tributes to the city’s legendary music personalities

JOYO’s JCA series is specially designed for guitarists who are quite particular about clean amplifiers, it delivers fabulous clean sound of the 50s. With reasonable price and outstanding appearance, it’s good value for money. It features  sweet and clear clean sound, together with smooth power amp overdrive tone. Guitar performance o blues, Jazz and country music will be brought into full play. JCA-40 adopts classic vintage circuit design, two JENSEN P120 speakers driven by alnico magnet and 212PQ cabinet. This kind of speaker setup is quite popular in the 50s and still the norm in this industry at the moment. This amp’s warm and clear sound i suitable for acoustic rock and roll, jazz, blues and country music, offering satisfactory sound effects forball, large performance and recording.

Features

• A pair of matched 6L6 output tubes.
• Two 5U4 rectifying tubes, delivering much better and cleaner sound. Moreover, guitarists can take off one 5U4 rectifying tube so as to obtain dimmer and rougher blues sound effects.
• 3 high gain 12AX7 preamp tubes, you can also change 3 of them into 12AY7 ones to get the low gain sound of the 50s.
• Alligator-grained PVC vintage style.

Note: In case your JCA-40 needs maintenance in the future, a Return Authorization(RA) number is required, otherwise you will no longer enjoy the warranty. Please contact your local dealer if it malfunctions.

IMPORTANT NOTES

• Please read all instructions before operating the unit.
• Keep these instructions for future reference.

• Follow manufacturer’s instructions
• Do not use this unit near water or moisture.
• Clean only with a dry cloth.
• Do not block any of the ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’ instructions.
• Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus that produce heat.
• Please use matched polarized or grounding-type plug, the wide blade or third prong is provided for your safety. When the provided plug does not fit your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
• Protect the power cord from being walked on and pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles and at the point at which they exit from the unit.
• Unplug this unit during thunderstorm, lightning or if it is not in use for a long time Refer to qualified personnel when the unit has been damaged in any way.
• I Don’t try to move this amp while in use.
• If you want to change input voltage, please remember to switch the voltage switch and change the matching fuse accordingly.

GUIDED TOUR

FRONT PANEL:

1. BRIGHT CHANNEL INPUT JACK 1: low gain channel with enhanced high tone, getting much brighter high tone than NORMAL CHANNEL.
2. BRIGHT CHANNEL INPUT JACK 2: high gain channel with enhanced high tone, geting much brighter high tone than NORMAL CHANNEL.
3. NORMAL CHANNEL INPUT JACK 1: low gain channel, without a boost in high tone, offering mellow tone.
4. NORMAL CHANNEL INPUT JACK 2: high gain input jack, without a boost in high tone offering mellow tone.
5. BASS: for adjusting the amp’s bass.
6. TREBLE: for adjusting the amp’s treble.
7. VOL BRIGHT CHANNEL VOLUME: adjust the input volume of the bright channel.
8. VOL NORMAICHANNELVOLUME: adjust the volume of the normal channel.
9. PRESENCE: the presence control introduces a boost in the high frequencies.
10. STANDBY SWITCH: the STANDBY SWITCH mutes all the amp output when the amp is turned on, this switch can be used during the short break, so as to save warming-up time. Please tur on the STANDBY SWITCH after you turn on the power switch for 30 seconds, so as to protectthe tubes.
11. POWER: turn on or off the amp.
12. POWER INDICATOR: it indicates whether the amp is turned on or off.
13. Main’s Voltage Selector for 110-120V and 220-240V input AC: If you need to change input voltage, please change the matching fuse accordingly.
14. AC INPUT JACK: Please use the attached power cord, the power cord must be compatible to the local plug and voltage. Be sure not to damage the ground pin in the power cord, otherwise there will be strong electric shock.
15. 8 SPEAKER OUTPUT SOCKET(cannot be used with 1600UTPUT SOCKETsimultaneously!).
16. 160SPEAKER OUTPUT SOCKET(cannot be used with 82OUTPUT SOCKET simultaneously!).

SETUP AND OPERATION

It’s quite easy to set up JCA-40 guitar amplifier, and only takes several minutes:

1. Unpack it(please keep the packaging in case of future maintenance). Typically it should be placed on top of a cabinet. To avoid potential overheating problems, please make surethat the rear panel is unobstructed and there is good ventilation for the unit.
2. Please use the attached connecting cable to connect the speakers output to the cabinet, and make sure the impedance is matched.
3. Before connecting the power cable, please ensure the local alternating voltage matches with this amp’s input voltage, and the power switch is off, use the attached power cable to connect to the AC power Input Jack in the rear panel, and then plug in the power plug, and please note that you cannot switch on the amp right now;
4. Use the standard instrument cable to connect your guitar or pedals to the Input Jack on the front panel;
5. On the front panel, please adjust all BASS, TREBLE and PRESENCE knobs to the middl position of 6-7 o’ clock, and turn VOLUME knob to the position of 1 o’ clock;
6. Turn on the POWER switch and then the power indicator is on, wait for at least 20 seconds for the tubes to warm up. Then turn on the STANDBY switch and the unit starts to work.
7. Turn up the VOLUME a little bit at first, and then you can adjust the BASS, TREBLE andPRESENCE knobs gently until reach the desired levels while performing, next turn the VOLUME knob to an appropriate level.
8. If you need to change pedals or guitar connecting to INPUT Jack during performance please turn off the VOLUME knob first and then you can change.

Now the setup is completed, it’s time to start your new music journey.

Note Remember to turn down the Volume first after a performance, and then turn off the STANDBY switch, and lastly turn off the POWER SWITCH.
