LYHPW3247 Lyson Solar Wax Melter
Thank you for purchasing a Lyson Solar Wax Melter. If you have any questions
about this product, please call our toll-free customer service number or email
our support team.
Please read these instructions completely before starting assembly and use.
Remove all parts from the box and check any wrapping material before disposal.
The metal parts may have a protective plastic coating that should be removed
prior to assembly.
Confirm all parts listed here are included. There are two different designs
for the melter.
Design A and B differ in how the metal dirty wax tray (Metal Pan) is
supported. Design A uses two metal inserts to support the pan end and keep
bees out of the handle openings. Design B uses a rectangular metal rim with
support. Once the design is determined, the assembly steps can be followed.
Your wax may need further filtering to be used for candle making and other
applications
The solar wax melter temperatures may deform plastic frames or foundations
Replacement catch basins are available at Betterbee. Part number LYP86 or Wax
Melter Pan.
Part Information
The following parts are included with both designs:
Design A or Design B parts are shown here. Please note that you will only get parts shown in one of the pictures. The assembly steps will direct you based on the design you receive.
Assembly Steps
-
For Design A, start with step 2. For Design B, skip stepping 4
-
Slip the handle seal/supports over the wall of the plastic box and push all the way down to make contact between the plastic and the metal (this ensures the cover will sit flush on the box). Center these pieces over the handle openings so that bees cannot enter the box. The piece with the horizontal support must cover the handle opening that is the farthest away from the holes (approx. ¼” dia) in the plastic box. This support will elevate the metal pan so that melted wax can run out.
-
Rest the metal pan on the support and align holes in the metal pan sides with the holes in the plastic box. Slide metal rod through the hole in the box and pan. Align the screen/baffle in the metal pan opening and slide the rod through the screen/baffle as shown. Push the rod through the other side of the metal pan and plastic box until the hook hits the plastic box. Once this step is complete, skip stepping 6.
-
For Design B, align the plastic box with a metal rim so that the small holes in each lineup.
-
Rest the metal pan on the lip inside the metal rim, so that holes in the open end of the pan line up with holes in the plastic box. Thread the metal rod through the holes in the plastic box, metal pan, screen/baffle, and through to the other side. This will act as a hinge when you insert the catch basin.
-
Lift the back of the pan and install the metal catch basin. Slide it all the way forward so that melted wax passing through the screen will land in the basin.
Lower the pan to rest on the support. -
Rotate the screen/baffle so that it “points” up into the pan. The weight of the screen holds it against the pan’s bottom. Add dirty wax, cappings, etc. to the pan and place the solar cover on top of the box.
-
Place melter in a bright sunny level location on a warm day. Allow several hours for the wax to start melting and check progress periodically. Change wax-filled catch basins and clean metal pan of debris when needed. For large or heavy dirt batches, it may take more than one day to process the wax.
