Course Unit Selection Guide: Adding a Course Unit
Using your program structures to guide you, you must select your course units
using the Student system.

Logging in to the Student System
The following information must be entered in the class search menus:
a) Subject: e.g. ‘Art History and Cultural Practice’ or ‘History’
‘University College for IL’ (for all UCIL course units)
b) Course Number: ‘is exactly’
c) Course Career: ‘Undergraduate’
d) Enter the code in the small box on the right-hand side (for example
AHCP20222, you would enter as 20222)
e) Click Search
Note:
- You will not be able to search for your class without choosing a course career. Instead, it will result in error messages.
- You will now see the Search Results screen. A ‘class’ refers to a course unit. Select classes to enroll on a course unit.
- You will see a class schedule for the course unit you searched for. Disregard any room information displayed here. You will be able to view room information for a course through your My Manchester timetable once you have completed enrolment.
- A class open for enrolment will display a green circle.
You will receive confirmation that the course has been added to your Shopping Cart. You are not yet enrolled in the course
10: To complete the enrolment, click Enrol, which will take to the next window to click Finish Enrolling
Note:
Do not use Class Search here- to find another class, you will need to return
to Student center home and click Search for Classes there
This screen shows you if you have enrolled on the selected course(s) successfully. This is indicated by a green tick or red cross under Status
If the enrolment has been unsuccessful, an error message will appear
explaining why it has failed.
The main errors that you may see are:
- Time conflict with an existing course
- A pre-requisite course has not been previously studied
- The course is full
