Sea Eagle Warranty
All Sea Eagle products come standard with a 3-year warranty against any
manufacturing defect that begins the date that your product is delivered. Sea
Eagle will refuse delivery on all packages without a valid return
authorization number and will not be responsible for the shipping or handling
charges. To obtain a return authorization number, please contact Sea Eagle
directly unless you purchased from an authorized dealer/reseller in which case
you should contact them for more information.
Sea Eagle must inspect equipment in order to determine if there is a defect.
In the event that an item must be shipped back to us for inspection, Sea Eagle
will only reimburse the standard return shipping charge through FedEx, UPS, or
the U.S. Post Office at published shipping rates. Retail shipping outlets like
The UPS Store will not be reimbursed and you will be responsible for handling
and packing charges.
The Sea Eagle warranty does not apply to products that are manufactured by
Minn Kota or Torqeedo. These products are covered by their own, respective
warranties. Please refer to the manufacturer’s warranty of each product for
details. If you received an item damaged, please call the shipping carrier to
report damaged merchandise. Do not return damaged merchandise until it has
been inspected by the carrier. Sea Eagle will be notified by the carrier when
they have completed their inspection and if necessary, Sea Eagle will arrange
for the repair or replacement of damaged merchandise.
Decals, Stickers & Registration
Always contact your state boating authorities for information on boating
registration and regulations. Most states require you to register your boat if
you are using a motor.*
Upon registration, it may be required to provide the Manufacturer’s Statement
of Origin. Purchases made through an authorized dealer or reseller may require
you to contact them directly in order to obtain this. You may be charged your
own state sales tax if you were not charged sales tax at the time of purchase.
Registered boats generally require for the registration number to be applied
to the boat. We do not recommend the use of decals or stickers as they tend to
crack and peel over time with the repeated inflation and deflation of your Sea
Eagle. Instead, we suggest applying these numbers to a small piece of hard
plastic or marine plywood and hanging it from your boat like a license plate
if permitted by your state. Another method is to apply the numbers to the hull
using either PVC-based paint or a permanent marker.

Operating Your Sea Eagle
Motoring
Your Sea Eagle Transom Boat comes equipped with a fiberglass reinforced
transom for use with either an electric or gas motor. These boats are rated by
the National Marine Manufacturer’s Association for a motor’s maximum capacity
for both dry weight and horsepower. Under no circumstance should you equip a
motor that exceeds these capacities (whether they be for the dry weight or
the horsepower or both). Not only can this result in damaging your Sea Eagle
Transom Boat, but it will also void your Sea Eagle warranty.
Gas motors are measured in units of horsepower and are generally built with
power and speed in mind. For the best performance with our Transom Boats, we
recommend using a 15” short shaft, although a longer shaft can be used in
greater depths of water. With the Rigid Inflatable Keel design in our Sport
Runabout Transom Boats, you can easily get your Sea Eagle to plane (provided
you are using a 9.9HP or higher).
Traditional electric motors are measured in units of thrust (the pulling or
pushing power of a motor) and are slower and quieter on water than gas motors.
There is no direct correlation of thrust to horsepower although most consider
traditional electric motors to be about a 1HP (which is more of a guess than
an approximation). Advantages of having an electric motor over gas is that
they are lighter to transport and easier to maintain. In order to operate an
electric motor, you will need a 12V deep cycle marine battery. Other
suggested accessories are a battery charger and a battery power center to
house the battery itself.
The Torqeedo Travel 1003s electric motor is unlike any other electric motor on
the market today. Powered by a waterproof lithium-ion battery (battery charger
included), the Travel 1003s delivers the true 3HP performance of a gas motor!
Features include a board computer display, GPS, and an audible alarm when the
battery reaches 30%. Torqeedo electric motors are lighter to transport than
gas motors and do not require a heavy 12V battery like traditional electric
motors. You can also power your Torqeedo Travel 1003s using the new Sea Eagle
Solar Canopy which is comprised of a PowerFilm Solar Panel.
Minn Kota, PowerFilm & Torqeedo products come with a manufacturer warranty
and are not covered by the Sea Eagle warranty. All warranty work is handled
directly by the respective manufacturer and all sales on these products are
final.
Rescue Applications
Although the Sea Eagle Transom Boat is made primarily with leisure and
recreation in mind, they are tough and durable for other applications. Sea
Eagle Transom oats have been sold to hundreds of fire departments and rescue
operators for over several decades. From flood work in Bombay to Lake
Michigan, rescue professionals put their faith in Sea Eagle.
Rowing
Although our Transom Boats are designed with the use of a motor in mind, they
can easily be rowed using the included oars and oarlocks. We always recommend
having them on board in case of emergency or engine failure.
Towing
In order to tow your Sea Eagle Transom Boat as a tender, tie the provided tow
line to each D-Ring on the outside bow of your boat and then pull the center
of the tow line through the bow carry handle. This method is described as a
bridle system and will distribute the force of towing across the hull. DO NOT
tie the line directly to the bow carry handle as it is not designed for
towing. When towing it is recommended to empty your Transom Boat of
accessories, gear, and motors.
Water Skiing
Our larger Sport Runabout models 12.6SR and 14SR come equipped with
stainless steel eyebolts and pre- rilled holes in the transom for water
skiing. For this application, it is recommended that you use a 15HP to 20HP
gas motor or higher.
Safety
In a manual of this type, it is impossible to give adequate space to the topic
of water safety. For further information on boating safety, visit
USCGBoating.org or enroll in one of the excellent water safety courses
provided.
It is your responsibility to be aware of and comply with all relevant safety
regulations. For all water recreation or sport, you should have reasonable
swimming ability. Just as swimmers have a cardinal rule about not swimming
alone, it is strongly advised that you should never go boating alone.
Boating Safety Tips
- Always wear a USCG-approved PFD (life vest) at all times while on the water.
- Be aware of your local boating rules and regulations and abide by them accordingly.
- Check inflation levels each time before you go out and inflate your boat for a full 24 hours before undertaking long trips.
- DO NOT allow children to use Sea Eagle unsupervised.
- DO NOT consume alcohol while boating or operating a boat while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- DO NOT drag your Sea Eagle over rocks or gravel if it can be avoided.
- DO NOT exceed the certified maximum capacities of this boat under any circumstance.
- DO NOT go boating alone.
- DO NOT use compressors, co2, or compressed air for inflation, only use Sea Eagle recommended pumps.
- DO NOT use your Sea Eagle Boat as a personal flotation device as they are designed for leisure/recreation in mind.
- DO NOT sleep inside of your Sea Eagle while on the water.
Safety Equipment
The type of water conditions you are on should determine the type of safety
equipment that you should have on board.
For all types of boating, we strongly recommend that every passenger wear a
USCG-approved PFD (personal flotation device) like a life vest. In most
places, this is a requirement by law, but from our point of view, it is also
an exercise of good judgment to have a PFD for all passengers. Other important
items to consider for all types of boating…
Drinking Water & Snacks: Kayaking is a physical activity that can work up both
a thirst and a sweat and especially on a hot or warm day it is a good idea to
have drinking water readily available to you to prevent dehydration. Bring a
good amount of water for all passengers as you want to avoid drinking the
water you’re kayaking in which may be full of contaminants.
Extra Clothes/Layers: You never know when the weather can change and it’s a
good idea to come prepared with extra clothing. If you have a dry (waterproof)
bag then we recommend storing them inside so they’re not damp in case of
emergency.
First Aid Kit: The contents of the kit may vary depending on your preferences,
but make sure to carry a kit that reflects the possible dangers of the
conditions you are in. Foot Pump/Repair Kit: Although our boats are both
durable and rugged, it may be possible that you need to make a repair while on
the water in which case you’ll need the repair kit and the foot pump to re-
inflate the boat. If this is your first repair, you may also want to bring
this instruction manual with you.
Sun/Rain Protection: A hat can protect both your face and head from the rain
or sun. You may also want to carry sunscreen with you as both the sun and the
sun’s reflection from the water can do serious damage to your skin. If you are
out for prolonged periods of time you may need to reapply sunscreen as needed.
Whistle: Having a whistle readily available to you in case of emergency is a
great way to attract the attention of others if assistance is needed.
Solo Reboarding
If you find yourself in the water, bring yourself to the side of the boat.
Hook your arms over the side of the boat with your belly in laying in the
water. With a big scissor kick, pull your belly up and into the side of the
boat. Turn over and pull legs in. For some boaters, solo reboarding without a
ladder may be impossible. A dinghy ladder for inflatable boats is recommended.
These are available from Defender Marine and others.
Inflation Valves & Pumps
Recessed Air Valves Remove the cap and press and turn the valve stem counterclockwise so that the stem is in the UP position. Only when the stem is in this position the valve will retain air. Turning the stem clockwise will put the valve in the down position for deflation.
Foot Pumps Press the two halves of the foot pump together and connect the hose to the inflation port marked OUT. Insert the valve adapter at the other end of the hose. lease note the A-50 foot pump has two settings. One for high volume and the other for high pressure.
A-50 Foot Pump A dual chamber foot pump that has two settings, high volume for the main chambers and high pressure for the drop stitch inflatable floor and the keel. The A-50 is included with models featuring the drop stitch floor.
A-50 (high volume) When the black cap is inserted into the center of the A-50 the pump is in the high volume setting. Use this setting to inflate main chambers of the boat to 3.2 PSI.
A-50 (high pressure) When the black cap is removed from the center of the A-50, the pump is in a high-pressure setting. Use this setting to inflate the drop stitch inflatable floor and the rigid inflatable keel to 10 PSI.
Recessed Adapter The recessed valve adapter is located inside the orange repair kit canister. Insert the ribbed end of the valve adapter into the hose on the foot pump. This valve adapter is not compatible for use with electric pumps.
Before inflating make sure that the stem inside of the valve is in the UP position so that the chamber retains the air.
Insert the valve adapter and turn clockwise to lock into position. When the pressure (3.2 PSI) is reached you should feel resistance on the foot pump.
BTP Turbo (OPTIONAL) The BTP Turbo-electric pump comes complete with a nylon shoulder carry bag, 12V DC power supply, hose and adapters.
Included are a cluster of seven valve adapters, with raised numbers on each arm of the cluster. The adapter marked number 1 is the only adapter needed for your Sea Eagle.
Take adapter number 1 from the cluster and firmly push it into the grey joint that is already connected to the end of the hose. To ensure that the adapter is on as tight as possible, push it against a hard surface like a floor or table once it is connected.
Connect the other end of the hose to the red inflation port at the top of the pump, located near the ON and OFF buttons.
Adjust the pressure dial to read 3.2 PSI which is the operating pressure of your Sea Eagle. PSI is marked in red on the dial. Never turn the dial when the device is under pressure as this will immediately cause the instrument to break.
Connect the cord at the end of the power supply into the end of the cord attached to the pump.
Connect the Turbo Pump to a 12V battery (car or marine) using the alligator clips at the end of the extension cord. Connect the red clip to the positive pole and the black clip to the negative pole.
If you ordered the Turbo Pump Kit you can also connect the pump to the portable battery in place of the alligator clips.
Assembly & Inflation
To charge the portable battery, plug it into the charger and then plug the charger into a household electrical outlet. The light on the battery charger will blink red until fully charged. When it is fully charged the light will be a solid green.
It is recommended to keep the Turbo Pump inside of the carry bag to make transportation easier and to protect the pump from sand which could jam it. The carry bag comes equipped with compartments for the pump, battery and charger.
Press the ON button to begin inflation. The pump operates in two stages which can be identified by the noise of the turbine at the start, followed by the piston. The pump automatically stops once the pressure is reached.
Air compressors that are designed for other uses like tire inflation (usually around 50 PSI) can easily harm your Sea Eagle which works at a much lower pressure of 3.2 PSI. For this reason, we recommend only using Sea Eagle pumps.
Clear a clean and flat space that is free of any sharp objects and unroll the boat hull so that it is laid out flat.
Locate the recessed one-way valves in the bow of the boat and begin inflating the boat to about 10% to 20% of its capacity. By partially inflating the boat the hull material is out of the way and the floorboards will be easier to install.
Drop Stitch Floor The 8.10 YT features a high-pressure drop stitch floor and comes equipped with the A-50 high-pressure foot pump necessary for inflating the floor up to 7 PSI. Once installed, drop stitch floors do not need to be removed.
At the stern of the boat near the transom is a fabric guard with buckle and strap to secure a fuel tank.
Place the floor inside of the boat with the air valve located in the bow of the boat, facing up. Begin inflating the floor using the high volume setting on the A-50. When resistance is met switch over to the high-pressure setting and finish inflating the floor until resistance is met.
Once the floor is inflated set the A-50 back to the high volume setting (with the plug inserted in the middle of the pump) and finish inflating the main chambers on the hull.
Plastic Floorboards Our Sport Runabouts feature interlocking polyethylene floorboards which are high strength and maintenance-free. The top of these boards is textured for traction. The underside of these boards is smoothed and numbered.
If you have either the 12.6SR or 14SR than you will need to attach the reinforcement kit to floorboards marked FB2 and FB-4 before you install the floorboards into the boat. This is a one-time only assembly.
The FB-2 has two threaded brass inserts for the reinforcement board and four others for the (optional) steering console. Secure the board to the smoothed underside of the FB-2 using the screws and washers. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to tighten the screws.
Locate and attach the two reinforcement bars to the traction (top) side of the FB-4 using the threaded brass inserts and the knurled knobs. The reinforcement kit lends additional support to the transom for better performance with high- powered gas engines.
Each of our Sea Eagle Sport Runabouts utilize different floorboard pieces and stringers although the assembly for them remains the same.

Sea Eagle’s floorboard and stringer system is designed to be snug inside the
boat. Although installation can be done by one person, it also requires some
patience and practice. Use the tips provided to make the job easier.
CAUTION!
Please do not proceed with bare feet and make sure to keep fingers and toes
out of the way so that they do not get pinched during floorboard installation.
Insert the FB-1 into the bow of the boat. Lift the sides of the boat as necessary in order to slide the FB-1 into place. At this time it does not need to be fully inserted.
Next, insert the FB-2 and interconnect its edges with the FB-1. The recessed air valve for the keel should be partially visible through the cutout in the FB-2.
Aft of the boat (at the rear) insert the FB-4 and slide it underneath the transom lip. The exact fit is not critical at this point as the board will be pushed into place when all floorboard pieces have been installed and pressed down.
Insert the FB-3 so that it meshes with the FB-4 and overlaps the FB-2. Lift the ends of the FB-2 and FB-3 and connect them to form an inverted V. Apply pressure to the joint to secure the floorboards into place.
The 14SR features the FB-3 and FB-3 short which are both marked as FB-3. Insert the FB-3 so that it meshes with the FB-4 and overlaps the FB-2 and install the FB-3 short should be installed between the FB3 and FB-2 floorboards.
Stringers are featured on each of the insides of our Sport Runabouts and add rigidity to the floorboards. Each model includes both a larger and smaller stringer set.
To make installation easier, get the boards on the same plane by propping the bow of the boat with either a box or bucket and place one of the longer stringers under the boat. This provides a flat surface for the installation of the first stringer.
Place the longer stringer in the rear of the boat between the hull and the notched edge of the floorboards with the groove on the stringer ready to accept the edge of the floorboard. Make sure there is enough room for the shorter stringer and then install.
Once both stringers are installed, repeat this process for the opposite side. The second set of stringers should be easier to install with the first set holding the boards in alignment. Once fully inflated the stringers and floorboards will fit firmly into place.
Aluminum Bench Seat Transom Boats come equipped with a bench seat and two sets of fabric beads (back and front) to secure the bench seat to. Your boat should be around 50% inflated before installing the bench seat. Please note the second bench seat is sold separately.
Begin by feeding the fabric beads on the pontoons through the nylon slotted fittings underneath the aluminum bench seat. Slide the seat over the fabric beads so that the seat is toward the center.
With the floorboard installed and the seat in place, you are now ready to fully inflate the main air chambers of the boat to 100%. If you are using an electric pump, remember to set the pressure to 3.2 PSI before you begin.
NOTE: Inflate the rigid inflatable keel as much as possible with the foot pump until resistance is met. The rigid inflatable keel greatly improves steering performance, and the structural strength of the boat and softens the impact of the ride when going through waves.
Oars & Oarlocks Assemble the AB25-5 oars by snapping them together. There are pre-drilled holes in the middle of the oars so you can slide it over the oarlock and then secure the oar in place using the blue oar stopper.
Transom Drain Valve Make sure that your drain valve is always in the closed position (shown) while on the water. When you are motoring is the only time that the drain valve can be in the open position.
Bow Storage Bag Transom boat features clips in the bow for this bow storage bag which is great for storage of life vests, first aid kit, foot pump, and more. Please note that this bag is not waterproof.
Cushioned Seat Bag (OPTIONAL) The seat bag makes excellent use of empty space underneath the aluminum bench seat and provides a cushion for the seat for better comfort. Comes with a nylon shoulder strap for easy transportation.
Deluxe Transom Seat (OPTIONAL) A great alternative to bench seats, this deluxe seat is a wide inflatable seat that secures with clips to your boat. Best placed in the bow of your Sport Runabout, the deluxe transom seat is not compatible with the 8.10YT.
Unzip the zippers on the side to reveal the oneway valves necessary for inflation. You’ll need the rounded adapter from the pump nozzle that came standard with the foot pump to inflate this type of valve. The seat should be inflated to around 1.1 PSI.
Canopy (OPTIONAL) The Sun/Rain Canopy comes complete with a canvas canopy, frame, and straps. Please note that you will need the wide version of this canopy for the 14SR.
Insert the aluminum frame through the canopy canvas.
Make sure the single nylon strap in the front of the canopy is pointed towards the front with the other two straps pointed towards the back. Please note the wider version of this canopy for the 14SR features two straps in the front and two straps in the rear.
Position the aluminum panel on the outside of the blue material between the front carry handle and the oarlock. and the canopy rods on the inside.
Tie the two rear straps to the back of the boat and then clip the front strap of the canopy to the rope lacing. Keep in mind to tighten the canopy so that it is level and so that it fits tightly on your Sea Eagle.
Solar Canopy (OPTIONAL) If you purchased the Solar Canopy Kit, refer to its instruction manual for installation. Please note that our current Solar Panel setup does not work with the wide canopy used on the 14SR .
Light Kit (OPTIONAL) LED bow and stern lights for night operation of your Transom Boat. Not intended to meet U.S.C.G regulations or to be used with speeds exceeding 8MPH. Each light requires four AA batteries which are not included.
Dolly Wheels (OPTIONAL) Transport made easy, the dolly wheels mount directly to your transom. The wheels lock up into position once you’re in the water so they don’t have to be removed. The dolly wheels are not designed to be towed behind a vehicle.
Swivel Seat Kit (OPTIONAL) Designed to provide maximum back support, the swivel seat can be turned 360° and is ideal for tiller control or the steering console. Sport Runabout models can easily fit a swivel seat kit on both the back and front placements.
Once the bolts are in you can then install the washer and the bolt on the underside of the seat board where the four bolts stick out.
Use the screwdriver at the top of the bolt to hold it in place and at the same time use the crescent wrench on the nuts on the bottom to tighten the bolts for the seat mount.
Once the release-a-seat mount is installed you can slide the swivel seat into the seat and place the entire fishing module inside of your fully inflated Sea Eagle. The fishing module will fit snug inside of the kayak and doesn’t require any further tightening.
Seat Placement: The locking seat should be used by the motor operator at all times.
Once the release-a-seat Power Rod Holder (OPTIONAL) Universal cradle holds almost any reel style and the front locking ring prevents rod loss when traveling. Includes side/deck mount. the mount is installed you can slide the swivel seat into the seat and place the entire fishing module inside of your fully inflated Sea Eagle. The fishing module will fit snug inside of the kayak and doesn’t require any further tightening.
Rod Holder (OPTIONAL) Holds a bait caster reel in a cushioned cradle. A slot in the front allows for a spinning reel to be securely held in place. Includes side/deck mount
To install the rod holder you will first need to drill through a solid surface and secure the mount to it.
To install the mount, place it over the desired area and drill a 1 3/8” through the fittings at each end of the mount. Be sure the “logo” on the mount reads upright when looking from inboard before securing the mount with the provided hardware.
Next, install the rod holder by pushing the post straight down into the mount. Rod holder is designed to enter the mounting bracket only when pointing inboard and is locked in every other direction.
Holder Clamp Mount (OPTIONAL) Fully portable mounting option for use with all Scotty post mount rod holders (side/deck mount. Secure the mount to the clam and insert the rod holder into the mount and connect the clamp directly to the transom.
Bilge Pump (OPTIONAL) Connect the hose to the fitting and insert the other end inside the boat where water has accumulated. With the hose facing outside the boat, use the handle to pump out the water through the hose.
Cleaner & Protectant (OPTIONAL) By using our 3M Marine Cleaner and our 303 Protectant sprays you can keep the material on your Sea Eagle Boat looking and feeling like new. Sold separately.
Child’s Life Vest (OPTIONAL) In many jurisdictions, children are required by law to wear life jackets. Designed for children 50-90 lbs. in weight. U.S. Coast Guard-certified, jacket features two secure belts for a secure and comfortable fit.
Paddling Life Vest (OPTIONAL) Sea Eagle Life Jackets are durable, look great and most importantly are U.S. Coast Guard approved! Features four plastic closures on adjustable straps for a comfortable, secure fit. Available in various sizes. Type III PFD.
Inflatable Life Vest (OPTIONAL) U.S.C.G approved for persons at least 16 years of age weighing 80 lbs. and above with a chest size between 30” and 52”. Includes whistle and SOLAS Grade retro-reflective panels and the extra backup oral inflation tube.
Torqeedo 1003s (OPTIONAL) Weighing just 29.5 lbs the Torqeedo delivers the performance of a 3hp gas motor and develops 4-5 times the power of traditional electric motors. NOTE: 14SR requires the long shaft version of this motor (1003L).
Minn Kota Motors (OPTIONAL) Minn Kota Motors are the most reliable electric trolling motors on the market. These motors run off a 12v deep cycle marine battery (which is not included or sold by Sea Eagle).
Portable Charger (OPTIONAL) Protect and preserve your battery life with this portable 10 AMP, Minn Kota battery charger. Features fully automatic 3-stage charging. Weighs 17 lbs. Input: 120V AC Output: DC 12V
Battery Power Center (OPTIONAL) Allows trolling motor leads and charger leads to be connected without opening the box. The built-in battery meter includes two 12-volt accessory plugs and three manual reset circuit breakers. Fits group 24 and 27 size batteries.
TIP: Never connect the (+) and the (-) terminals of the battery together. Take care that no metal object can fall onto the battery and short the terminals. This would immediately lead to short and utmost fire danger.
Deflation & Storage
Although PVC material can become brittle in extremely cold temperatures, you
can still safely store your Sea Eagle in them so long as you avoid dropping it
and do not subject it to any sudden impacts.
If you’re planning to leave your Sea Eagle outside, be sure to keep it raised up off of the ground. It’s also a good idea to keep it covered so that it is not directly exposed to berries, leaves, rain, sunlight, and other elements. Sea Eagles that are left in water will most likely have to be emptied from time to time.
Make sure that your Sea Eagle is dry before storing for more than a few days,
to remove any excess moisture that could cause unsightly mildew. Choose a
cool, dry spot when storing in an area like a basement, closet, or garage.
Before you begin the deflation process, please keep in mind that you should
not fully deflate one chamber while other chambers remain fully inflated as
doing this can cause damage to the bulkheads of your boat.
To deflate, remove the cap, press down on the valve stem and turn clockwise to lock into position. Release around 50-75% of the air from each chamber before fully deflating. Excess air can be pushed out as you roll up the boat.
Once deflated, loosen the side stringers with your foot and remove both the
stringers and floorboards. You do not need to remove the supports on the FB-2
& FB-4 floorboard pieces. If you have a drop stitch floor, you can deflate it
and roll it up with the hull.
Fold the hull of the boat inwards and underneath the transom. From the stern,
fold the pontoons towards the transom and roll the boat forward pushing any
excess air out of the boat as you go along. When you’re finished, tuck the bow
neatly underneath.
Place the hull at the center of the opened boat bag and wrap the boat with the
narrow flaps first. Lash down with the nylon straps to secure and repeat this
process with the wide flaps and nylon straps.
Troubleshooting
If your boat is losing air it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s leaking. For
instance, a boat that is inflated late in the day with 90° air may cool 20°
overnight. The cooler air will exert less pressure on the hull and the boat
will appear softer the next morning. When there has been no variation in
temperature and your boat is losing air then it is time to start looking for
the leak.
The first thing you should do when looking for a leak is to actually look at
the boat. Visually inspect the boat from a few feet away and if necessary,
flip it over and closely check the outside. Any large leaks when your boat
loses a considerable amount of air should be clearly visible.
Be sure to check the tightness of the one-way recessed valves as well and if
necessary, tighten them with the valve wrench included in the orange repair
kit canister. If you have a rough idea of where your leak is but can’t see it,
you may want to try listening for it as you may be able to hear the air
escaping and pinpoint the leak.
Other troubleshooting techniques you can try to locate the leak is to
dowse/spray a mix of dishwashing liquid over suspicious areas. The leak may
produce bubbles that will pinpoint the location of the leak.
Repairs
Although our Sea Eagles are very rugged and tough, you may still experience
the occasional puncture through the use of your boat. Fortunately, most
repairs are fairly easy and only take a few minutes.
For an extensive repair please contact us directly for assistance or a quote
to have it sent back and repaired at our facility. Repair fees start at $75.00
and do not include return shipping charges.
Repair Kit
All Sea Eagles come standard with this repair kit which includes both PVC
patches and PVC glue. Repair kits that are included in boat package purchases
also include the recessed valve adapter and valve wrench.
PVC-Based Glue For repairs on our boats you will need to use PVC-based glue. We suggest this 12 oz. can of Vienna Bond if you need more glue than what comes standard in the repair kit.
Repair: Pinholes Deflate your boat and thoroughly clean and dry the area that is to be repaired. For small punctures, less than 1/8” apply a small drop of glue and allow 12 hours to dry.
For immediate use allow 30 minutes to dry and then inflate the compartment with the repair only 3/4 full and be sure to make a more permanent repair ater.
Repair: Patching Leaks larger than a pinhole can be patched. Most patches can be done in a few minutes, but we do offer a repair service for more complex jobs out of warranty.
Using a ballpoint pen, trace the outline of your patch which should be large enough to overlap the damaged area by approximately 1/2”. Angle the pen inward a bit so that the ink will be covered by the patch later.
Ap ply ad he sive to the dull side of the patch and around the area to be repaired. Coat the affected area lightly but completely with glue.
Place the patch on the damaged area and press down firmly. Let the glue sit for 2-4 minutes until it appears tacky. If the glue does not hold, heat the patch with a hair dryer.
A temperature of 160° degrees will activate the adhesive and from there you can press firmly on the patch until cooled. DO NOT use a hair dryer on an inflated boat and NEVER use a heat gun on your boat.
2-Part Adhesive The adhesive that comes standard in your repair kit works for most repairs and installations, but for more detailed and extensive repair we recommend a 2-part PVC adhesive.
Methyl Ethyl Ketone Methyl Ethyl Ketone or MEK is a solvent used to dissolve PVC-based glue in case you need to remove a D-Ring, glue residue or patch. MEK is a strong solvent and can damage the material to the boat so use it very carefully and sparingly.
MEK is very flammable, keep away from fire, lit cigarettes, or sparks. When handling MEK we recommend wearing rubber gloves. Be sure to use MEK in a well- ventilated area and heed all warnings from the manufacturer. To remove a patch with MEK, dip a cotton swab and apply it to the outer edges. The glue will start to dissolve and the patch will begin to separate from the boat. Continue to carefully apply MEK to the underneath of the patch and continue peeling it off. Once removed you can also clean off any residual glue with the MEK solvent. To reapply a new patch, allow approximately 30 seconds for the MEK to evaporate and apply the item to the boat.
Glue-On Pad Mount (OPTIONAL) This pad is made of flexible PVC and works great
for customizing your Sea Eagle so that you can install either a Scotty Bait
Caster or Power Lock Rod Holder. See the repairs section of this manual for
installation instructions.
Before you begin, take the provided stainless steel fasteners and use them to
mount and tighten the side mount to the glue-on pad.
Position the glue-on pad in the desired location of your Sea Eagle Boat and
mark off the area surrounding the glue-on pad with a pencil.
Next, use a brush (not included) to evenly apply the glue to both the glue-on
ad and the area that you marked off with your pencil.
TIP: Using a hair dryer (10 seconds should be fine), heat up the glue on
both the glue-on pad and your Sea Eagle.
Mate the wo sides, pressing out any air pockets or bubbles along the way.
Allow 24 hours for the glue to dry and then the bonding process is complete
and the mount is ready for
Valve Replacement DO NOT change out the valve unless you are sure it is broken. In most cases, the valve will not leak. Because the base of the valve is built into the boat it cannot be replaced without cutting the chamber open.
Should you need to replace the valve then we recommend the following tools and methods. Suggested tools include channel lock pliers, valve wrench (included with your repair kit) vice grip pliers, and pieces of repair material (also found in the repair kit).
Inflate the chamber to full pressure if possible and loosen with the valve wrench by turning it counterclockwise. Deflate the chamber and unscrew the valve body from the base.
Place the material in the jaws of the channel lock pliers to protect the hull material. Once the body of is unscrewed from the base, pull the body from the opening and insert the replacement. base. The opening is very tight, so you may have to pull on it hard.
