Right Crowd Badge holder User Manual

The Right Crowd Badge holder is a security wearable that reminds people to keep a safe distance and records close contact information for contact tracing purposes. The device is not a tracking device i.e. does not track where people go.

  • How does the Right Crowd Badge holder protect me and my colleagues?

    • As you move around, the badge holder is continually measuring the distance between you and your colleagues. It works by sending Bluetooth signals between neighboring badge holders and measuring the strength of the signal.
    • When you are observing correct social distancing (more than approximately 6 feet / 1.5 meters), the colour of the light on the badge will be Green. If you come within approximately 6 feet / 1.5 meters of a colleague, you will see that the colour of the light on the badge changes from Green to Amber. This serves as a visual warning to each of you that you are too close to one another and you should stand or sit further apart.
    • The badge holder continues to monitor the social distance and the colour of the light will change to red, if you remain less than 6 feet / 1.5 meters apart beyond the 5 second warning period. At that time the device also stores a “Close Contact Event”. Each time the system registers a close contact event like this, it is logged and then sent to a central platform for contact tracing purposes.
  • How do I activate the badge holder?
At the beginning of your workday, insert your access badge into the badge holder, and push for 1 second in the middle of the device (your index finger pushes on the front of the device while your thumb is at the back of the device). The device will make a start-up sound and it will go into stand-by mode. As soon as you enter the premises, a Right Crowd Gateway will automatically activate your badge holder and the device will show a green glowing light.

  • How do I turn off the badge holder?
At the end of your workday, you can turn the device off by pushing for 5 seconds in the middle of the device. The device will make a shut-down sound. You can leave your access badge inserted.

  • Do I have to charge-up the badge holder?
Yes. The device is charged using a Right Crowd Charging Station. Please remember that the device will not protect you when it runs out of charge. When fully charged, the device can be used for up to 80 working hours. We recommend recharging the device at least once a week. At any time, you can check the battery status of the badge holder by pushing for 1 second in the middle of the device. You will hear a first beep when you start pushing and then a second beep after one second. The LED will then show you either a green, amber or red color. Amber means the battery is below 20% ; red means the battery is below 10% and needs to be recharged as soon as possible.
