DINNER LIGHT CLASSIC

The warm and natural light effect of the charlique DINNER LIGHT CLASSIC gives your surroundings a unique atmosphere. The table lamp is cordless and can therefore be used flexibly. Thanks to its powerful rechargeable battery, the bundle of energy spreads its feel-good ambience for between 10 and 48 hours and can be recharged again and again with the USB cable supplied. What are the special features of the luminaire?

  • excellent light quality with perfect colour rendering and pleasant light colour of 2,700 Kelvin, which corresponds to natural, warm white sunlight (full spectrum LED technology)
  • versatile and location-independent application possibilities, e.g. for accent lighting on a garden table, on the bar tables of a cocktail party, for romantic lighting of a dining table, on the sideboard or the sofa ledge … in other words, wherever mood lighting is needed temporarily but there is usually no power socket available.
  • energy-saving and eco-friendly – maximum power consumption 3.5 watts with 200 lumens luminous flux, energy efficiency class A++ (according to EU Regulation 874/2012)
  • long life and reliable operation – with proper use, the LEDs achieve up to 50,000 h operating time, the rechargeable batteries are designed for 800 – 1,000 charging cycles

Charging – On/Off – Dimming

  1. The battery should be fully charged before first use. To maintain the high performance of the battery, it is helpful if the light is fully charged and discharged at least once a month.
  2. To charge the battery, use the supplied USB charging cable and connect them to the USB charging socket in the lamp head (as when charging a mobile phone). Connect the other end of the charging cable to the USB slot of the supplied USB charging adapter and plug it into the mains. Charging the table lamp takes about 5.5 hours.
  3. The charging process is signalled by a red light on the lamp head. As soon as the control lamp lights up green, the battery is fully charged.
  4. Briefly touching the soft-touch switch switches the lamp on and off, a long touch dims it down and up; the last dimming value is stored until the next time the lamp is switched on (memory function).

powerful battery – depending on the dimming value, the table lamp achieves from 10 up to 48 hours burning time

GOOD TO KNOW

We have compiled some frequently asked questions, tried-and tested application tips and interesting facts about our charlique DINNER LIGHTS CLASSIC for you. And if you follow these recommendations, our table lamps will give you many years of pleasure.
Our tip for a long lamp runtime
At the highest brightness level, the table lamp burns for up to 10 hours. A sure sign of a weakening battery is the decreasing brightness of the lamp. Now it is time to recharge the Dinner Light.
You can increase the burning time considerably if you operate the light in a slightly dimmed state. With a barely noticeable loss of brightness, the operating time will almost double with a single battery charge. Try it out!
Our recommendation: charge the lamps overnight
We advise our customers to charge their table lamps overnight with a 5V 2A power supply unit. The charging time is usually about 5 hours (minimum 4 h – maximum 6 h, the lamps have an overcharge protection).
It has proven to be very practical to connect the table lamp to the mains with the charging cable in the evening and to disconnect it from the mains plug again in the morning. Until then, the green control LED on the lamp head signals that the built-in battery is fully charged.
The following evening, you will not be inconvenienced by the fact that your Dinner Lights have no power.
Are the built-in batteries actually replaceable/removable?
Yes, the built-in lithium-ion batteries can be replaced at the end of their life (800 charging cycles) or removed from the lamp head for proper disposal.
The table lamp is designed so that the lamp head can simply be unscrewed and opened. All you have to do is loo- sen the plug connection to the battery and you can remove it and replace it with a battery of the same type.
Please contact our customer service if you want to give your Dinner Light a „second life“.
Protection class IP54 – protected against splash water
The light and the USB port are splashproof. However, it is not advisable to expose the lamp to permanently wet conditions.
Two-year manufacturer‘s warranty for your table lamp
We grant our customers a 2-year manufacturer‘s warranty for each charlique® DINNER LIGHT from the date of purchase (batteries excluded). This functional guarantee does not cover any damage caused by mechanical pressure, such as scratches and dents or contamination. Furthermore, we reserve the right to reject warranty claims if the table lights have not been used for their intended purpose or if our instructions and recommendations for use have not been followed.
Weak batteries? not in this case
Proper handling of the built-in batteries greatly benefits their performance and life expectancy.
It is generally known that the performance of rechargeable batteries decreases over time – this is also known from mobile phones. However, this phenomenon should be limited to 70% – 80% of their original performance. The lifespan of batteries is a science in itself and there are many factors that can influence it. While it is difficult to make a general statement about why a battery will only do its job for a certain period of time, it is not possible to say for sure. Regardless, battery life is determined by the following influencing factors: Heat, cold, overcharging, frequency of use, deep discharge, short circuit and storage. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid great heat and freezing cold, to disconnect the charging plug after fully charging, to recharge the lamp as soon as it lights up noticeably weaker (please do not wait until it goes out completely, avoid deep discharging). If the table lamp is not used for a longer period of time, we recommend charging and discharging the lamp at least once a month. This will significantly increase the life expectancy of the battery (please do not charge in an icy cold environment). Our powerful lithium-ion batteries are designed for a service life of about 800 charging cycles. This means that if the table lamp were to be discharged and recharged every 2-3 days, this would correspond to a life expectancy of about 6 years.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Consumer advice on the disposal of old electrical appliances The crossed-out wheeled bin indicates that this appliance is subject to Directive 2012/19/EU.
This directive states that you may not dispose of this appliance with normal household waste at the end of its useful life, but must dispose of it at specially organised collection points, recycling centres or waste disposal companies .

Consumer advice for batteries and accumulators
The symbol of the crossed-out dustbin indicates that batteries and accumulators must not be disposed of with household waste at the end of their service life. Consumers are legally obliged to return old batteries and accumulators after use to retail outlets, specially organised collection points, recycling centres or waste disposal companies. This disposal is free of charge for the consumer. You can obtain the addresses of suitable collection centres from your city or local authority. Batteries may contain substances that are harmful to the environment and human health. Particular care should be taken when handling batteries containing lithium due to the special risks involved. The separate collection and recycling of old batteries and accumulators should prevent negative effects on the environment and human health.
Please avoid the generation of waste from old batteries as far as possible, e.g. by favouring batteries with a longer service life or rechargeable batteries. Please also avoid littering public spaces by not carelessly leaving batteries or electrical and electronic equipment containing batteries lying around. Please check the possibilities of reusing a battery instead of disposing of it, for example by reconditioning or repairing the battery .
Protection class III for electrical safety
The symbol shown with the square on one corner and the Roman numeral III stands for protection class III. Lights in protection class III are operated at a safety extra-low voltage (SELV) of <50 volts AC or <120 volts DC that is safe for humans .

Protection class IP54
The EN 60529 standard defines types of protection for enclosures for electrical equipment. This concerns the protection of persons against contact with live parts and protection against the ingress of foreign bodies and water. The IP code (IP = International Protection) consists of two digits. The first digit relates to protection against contact or foreign bodies, the second digit to protection against water. The above symbol ‘IP54’ therefore means that the table lamp is protected against dust and contact with a wire as well as against splashing water.
The table lamp is therefore also suitable for outdoor use.
The lamp may only be charged or operated with the USB cable connected indoors.
