Controls | Functions
SELECTING A SOURCE
To select a Source
- Press the [SOURCE] button.
- Rotate the [M-KNOB] to cycle through available sources.
- Press the [M-KNOB] to select the highlighted source
Source List
- RADIO
- USB
- AUX
- BLUETOOTH MUSIC
- CAMERA
Sources that are not currently available are not selectable. For example, if there is nothing plugged into the USB, then USB is not a selectable source.
PAIRING A BLUETOOTH DEVICE
By default, the SPXM1 will be in Pairing Mode.
With the device in Discoverable Mode:
- Open the Bluetooth Settings on the device
- Select STINGER from the device list
Once pairing is complete a confirmation message will appear on SPXM1
NOTE: If STINGER does not appear in the list of available devices,
confirm bluetooth is turned
on by pressing and holding the [MENU] button to access the global settings. ON
should be highlighted orange under BT Pairing.
Auto Connect
Once a device is paired, the SPXM1 will automatically connect to that device
whenever it is powered on and the device is within range.
NAVIGATING & CHANGING SETTINGS
There are 2 types of settings, source-specific and global. Source-specific are settings pertaining to the active source and can be accessed by pressing the [MENU] button while on that source. For example,when listening to the radio, pressing the [MENU] button will access the FM Settings menu.
Global Settings are system settings that affect many sources and can be accesed on any source by Pressing and Holding the [MENU] button.
NOTE: Double arrows (>>)indicates a sub-menu
AM/FM/WB RADIO
Press the [SOURCE] button and select RADIO.
Changing Radio Bands
Press the [BAND] button to cycle through radio bands and presets
(FM1-FM2-FM3-AM1-AM2-WB)
Tuning Radio Stations
Press buttons to Auto Seekavailable stations.
Long Press buttons to Manually Tune stations.
Saving Presets
- Tune to the desired radio station to saveas a preset.
- Press and Hold the [P-MODE] button for 3 seconds.
- Rotate [M-KNOB] and highlight desired preset position (P1-P6)
- Press and Hold [M-KNOB] for 3 seconds to save preset.
Recalling Presets
- Press and Hold the [P-MODE] button for 3 seconds.
- Rotate [M-KNOB] to desired preset (P1-P6).
- Press the [M-KNOB] to select.
NOTE! Tuning, Saving and Recalling preset functions are the same for all radio bands (AM/FM/Weather Band).
FM Settings Menu
While in Radio Source, press the [MENU] button.
LOCAL [OFF/ON]
When set to ON, sets FM tuner sensitivity for LOCAL (close proximity) radio
stations.
AUTO STORE
Select to automatically set radio presets with available radio stations.
USB Media Player
Insert a USB drive with media and press the [SOURCE] button and select USB.
If audio files are found they will automatically start playing.
Play & Pause
Press [PLAY/PAUSE] to start and stop playback.
Next & Previous Tracks
- Press button to advance to the next track.
- Press button one time to go to the begining of the current track.
- Press button two times to go to the previous track.
Fast Forward & Rewind
- Press and hold button to fast forward current track.
- Press and hold button to rewind the current track.
NOTE! When connecting an iPod, playback controls and settings are the same. The Music SEARCH funtion will follow iPod’s structure.
USB Settings
While in USB Source, press the [MENU] button.
Music SEARCH
- Highlight SEARCH and press the[M-KNOB] to select.
- Rotate the [M-KNOB] to scroll through the available songs. Press the [M-KNOB] to select a song.
- Pressing the [BACK] button exits the current folder and a different folder can highlighted and selected.
REPEAT
- Highlight REPEAT and press the …[M-KNOB] to select.
- Highlight [SONG-FOLDER-ALL] Press the [M-KNOB] to select.
SHUFFLE
- Highlight SHUFFLE and press the …[M-KNOB] to select.
- Highlight [OFF-FOLDER-ALL] Press the [M-KNOB] to select.
Press the [BACK] button to exit USB Settings
Bluetooth Music
When a device is Paired, it will be selectable by pressing the [SOURCE] button
and selecting BT Music.
If BT Music is not showing as an available source, see PAIRING A BLUETOOTH
DEVICE on page 6.
Play & Pause
- Press [PLAY/PAUSE] to start and stop playback.
Next & Previous Tracks
- Press button to advance to the next track.
- Press button one time to go to the begining of the current track.
- Press button two times to go to the previous track.
Fast Forward & Rewind
- Press and hold button to fast forward current track.
- Press and hold button to rewind the current track.
NOTE! SEARCH, REPEAT and SHUFFLE are not availble on all streaming services.
BT Music Settings
While in BT Music, press the [MENU] button.
Music SEARCH
- Highlight SEARCH and press the [M-KNOB] to select.
- Rotate the [M-KNOB] to scroll through the available folders/songs. Press the [M-KNOB] to select.
- Pressing the [BACK] button exits the current folder and a different folder can highlighted and selected.
REPEAT
- Highlight REPEAT and press the …[M-KNOB] to select.
- Highlight [SONG-FOLDER-ALL] Press the [M-KNOB] to select.
SHUFFLE
- Highlight SHUFFLE and press the …[M-KNOB] to select.
- Highlight [OFF-FOLDER-ALL] Press the [M-KNOB] to select.
Press the [BACK] button to exit BT Music Settings
AUX Input
If a audio source is connected to the auxillary input (AUX), press the
[SOURCE] button and select AUX.
Volume can be controlled through the device and with SPXM1 volume knob.
NOTE! The AUX source is selectable even if there is no device connected.
Camera
The SPXM1’s camera input can be activated by a trigger wire or accessed by
selecting Camera as the source.
NOTE! The camera connected to the input must have power for the video
signal to be displayed.
Battery Voltage
Pressing and holding the Accessory Control button will display the current
battery voltage.
NOTE! The SPXM1 will display a WARNING message when the battery voltage
drops below 10.5 volts.
Accessory Control
(Switch Command)
The SPXM1 is capable of controlling up to 4 external devices when used in
conjunction with the optional SwitchHUB (SPXSH440) four output solid state
switcher.
To access the controls, press the Accessory Control button
- Rotate the [M-KNOB] to cycle through the four switch controls.
- Press the [M-KNOB] to toggle the highlighted switch ON/OFF.

High Pass Filter (HPF): OFF / 60 / 80 / 100 / 120Hz
Slope: -6 / -12 / -24dB Sub-W
Low Pass Filter (LPF): OFF / 60 / 80 / 100 / 120Hz
Slope: -6 / -12 / -24dB
AUDIO > REAR RCA
REAR RCA channels are selectable between REAR or SUB
Note: Selecting SUB and setting Sub-W CROSSOVER to OFF will allow”dual-
zone” volume level control between Front and Rear channels.
AUDIO > SOURCE GAIN
Allows gain adjustment for individual sources
Source: Radio / USB / Bluetooth / AUX
Gain: -3 / -2 / -1 / 0 / 1 / 2 / 3dB
AUDIO > INTERNAL AMP
When using external amplifier(s), the internal amplifier can be set to OFF to
reduce heat and power consumption.

Radio tuner can be set by region/country

Note: Updating firmware requires access to USB.

Resets all audio settings to factory default.
RESET > SYSTEM
Resets system harware and software.
Use the [BAND/BACK] button to go back a level or to save a setting and exit.

ACCESSORY CONTROL WIRING
The SPXM1 has 4 switchable outputs/triggers (FIG. A) that can be used to
control external accessories such as lighting, audio or any other 12V
accessory, when used with the optional SPXSH440 SwitchHub.
SWITCH 1-4 wires are 12V+ outputs and can activated individually by accessing
the ACCESSORY CONTROL source.
WARNING!
Accessory control outputs are 100mA. Do not connect directly to any
accessories or conventional relays. Failure to follow instructions may result
in damage to equipment and void the device warranty.
