Instructions for Use
FLOW SENSOR
The SpiroQuant H is a single patient use sensor used to measure the airflow in the breathing system of the patient for use with Hamilton ventilators.
Ventilator connection
To connect the Flow Sensor to the ventilator attach the sensor tubes
underneath the front panel of the ventilator. The blue tube must be attached
to the „PROXIMAL“ inlet of the ventilator.
Patient connection
Insert the Flow Sensor between the Y piece of the patient circuit and the
patient connection. The side of the Flow Sensor equipped with the blue tube
should face the patient. It is recommended that short flexible tubing is used
between the sensor and the patient connection. Position the sensor with the
tubing upright to prevent kinking and condensation.
Tubing clip
The tubing clip is designed to secure the Flow Sensor tubes to the ventilation
tubes. Place the wide opening of the clip around the inspiratory ventilation
tube.
Place the Flow Sensor tube in the narrow opening of the clip, leaving a loop
of tubing between the clip and the Flow Sensor to accommodate the full range
of patient movement.
Calibration
Caution: The Flow Sensor must be calibrated prior to patient use.
To calibrate, follow the instructions in the appropriate ventilator manual.
After successful completion of the procedure the Flow Sensor is ready for
patient use.
