The power E-BIKE
V1-2024 Mobility Europe
Dear customer,
Here you’ll find a Quick Start for your new Klever E-bike. For more detailed,
technical information, make absolutely sure that you read our comprehensive
user manual as well. The QR-code below refers to downloadable versions (per
Klever model) on www.klevermobility.com. For
any further questions, please ask your authorised Klever dealer. Enjoy your
Klever E-bike.
Safety check
Before starting your E-bike make sure that saddle and handlebar are correctly
tightened to the proper torque (the proper torque settings can be found in the
modelspecific manual).
Also check the operation of brakes and lighting system. And check the tyre
pressure.
- Always wear a helmet. For speed E-bikes wearing an approved 45 km/h E-bike helmet is mandatory.
- Depending on the type of Klever E-bike you have, make sure you are aware of the applicable traffic rules for 45 km/h speed E-bikes or 25 km/h E-bikes. And stick to these rules.
- Also, before the first ride make yourself familiar with the functioning of the electric support, on a traffic-calmed road or a parking lot.
- Be ready to brake at any time and expect misconduct of others.
- Ride as much as possible, but only when allowed, on bike lanes.
- Use your E-bike only in accordance with its intended purpose.
- Be sure to observe the maximum weight of cyclist + E-bike + luggage (see model-specific manual).
Starting your Klever E-bike
You can start with or without inserting the E-KEY (image 1.7). As soon as you insert the E-KEY into its port (image 1.6), the system will start itself. With the E-KEY already in the display while the system is off, there are two ways to activate the system:
- Press the ON/OFF button (image 1.1), after a 3 seconds system check your E-bike is ready to be pedalled.
- Or just start pedalling and the electric system will wake up automatically. We recommend removing the E-KEY from the display after starting.
Electric Support & (TURBO) button
Your E-bike has 5 levels of electric support, which can be managed with the
↑ button on your display (image 1.3) to increase the support and the ↓
button (image 1.4) to decrease the support. The actual level of electric
support can be seen in the display (image 1.2).
System level | Electric Support |
---|---|
N | No support, electric system active |
ECO | Low support |
TOUR | Medium support |
MAX | Strongest support |
There is a 5th level of electric support which is intended for short-term additional support: TURBO. The ****(TURBO) button on the display (image 1.5) has 2 functions:
- Walk-assist, pushing aid while taking your E-bike by the hand. Actuate the **** (TURBO) button while walking next to your E-bike. The maximum speed is 4 km/h.
- TURBO-mode WITH pedalling of the cyclist. While actuating the **** (TURBO) button in ECO- or TOUR-mode the electric support will be increased to MAX-mode as long as you push the button. Once released, the motor support goes back to its initial support level. Actuation of the button while in MAX-mode, generates an additional boost for speeds below 15 km/h.
Charging the Klever battery
- To maintain your warranty, the battery must be charged with Klever chargers only (image 2.1).
- You can charge the battery on your E-bike (image 4.1), but you can also remove the battery from your E-bike and charge it indoors (image 4.2).
- When charging the battery on the E-bike, make sure that the E-bike is turned off. Then wait 30 seconds: the headlight will then flash and the LED light on the battery will flash blue for a moment (image 3.2).
- Connect the power cord to the charger and then the power plug to the wall socket (image 2.2).
- If the LED on the charger shows constant red light, the charger is ready for use.
- Connect the charger plug of the charger (image 2.3) to the charging socket on the battery (image 3.1). The charging process starts automatically.
- Do not attempt to follow the charging process on the display. By switching your E-bike back on, the charging process is automatically stopped.
- You can follow the charging process through the LED lights on the charger and the battery:
State of Charge | Charger LED | Battery LED |
---|---|---|
<35% | Steady yellow | Flashing red |
35-75% | Steady yellow | Flashing yellow |
75-90% | Steady yellow | Flashing green |
> 90% | Flashing green | Flashing green |
100% | Steady green | No LED colour |
- Once the LED on the charger constantly lights green the battery is charged.
- Unplug the power plug from the wall first, then remove the charger lead from the battery charger.
- For a longer battery life, make sure that the battery is no longer connected to the charger after the charging process has been completed.
- Avoid using or storing the battery in very hot or very cold conditions over a longer period of time (i.e., over 45°C and below -10°C). The battery has a temperature protection and switches off automatically if these min. and max. temperatures are exceeded.
- The battery can be switched on again if you connect it at normal room temperature to the charger (image 4.2) or you press the LED button (image 3.2).
Charging time of Klever batteries
The charging of an empty battery will take about:
- 3 Hours for a 570 Wh battery with a 5A charger.
- 3.5 Hours for an 850 Wh battery with a 6A charger.
- 5 Hours for a 1,200 Wh battery with a 6A charger.
Removal & mounting of the battery
The battery is locked in place with the battery lock and thereby protected
from theft. To remove the battery, first turn off the system using the ON/OFF
button on the display (image 1.1). Turn the key in the battery lock clockwise
up to the stop (image 5.1) and pull the battery out from its docking station
(image 5.2). Now you can charge the battery separately (image 4.2). Having
removed the battery pack from your E-bike, please don’t forget to protect the
contact connector of the controller unit with the rubber cover (image 5.3 &
5.4).
Once the battery is charged, remove the rubber cover from the controller plug
(image 6.1) and insert the battery carefully. Make sure that the groove of the
battery casing is carefully inserted into the rail of the frame. Then slide
the battery pack gently down. And
push it into place with your hand until you hear the lock engage with a clear
click (image 6.2). The system is ready to go again and the battery is
protected against theft.
Battery Range
The range of your E-bike strongly depends on:
- The selected level of support (ECO, Tour or MAX): the lower the level of electric support, the bigger the range.
- The technical condition of your E-bike (well-oiled chain, proper tyre pressure, etc.).
- The total weight of the system (E-bike + cyclist + luggage).
- The topography of the chosen route (flat road, hills or mountains).
- The weather conditions (head- or tailwind, outside temperature, summer or winter).
- More information about the range can be found on our Klever website.
